yes but SOE has NO end to its greed, sadly

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't WoW like DAoC where you can buy most of the stuff you need from NPC's and you don't have to buy stuff from crafters?
You can't have that many characters here because it would kill the economy because you would be able to be every profession and you wouldn't need to buy anything from anyone because you can make it yourself. There would be no market for crafters because they wouldn't be able to sell anything. It would kill the game for people that do not want to be in combat because credit making would rely solely on missions becuase you can't make money crafting.
If SWG had NPC's that sold everything needed like DAoC was then having 10 characters would work but there isn't. Frankly, I'm glad there isn't. I like how the game economy is ruled by the players and not SOE. It's more immursive to me.
In the early days of the game it was possible to have two characters to a server without unlocking your fs slot. This is tue because I had 2 characters at one time with one account. I believe they changed this last December.
No way. Never was that way. Or I wouldn't have bought a second account to be my crafter/harvester/nerd to complement my combat type on the same server.

The other problem with multiple characters would be that one player could make his own city. We don't need that.
How could that happen?

You may have had two characters... just not on the same server.

If you started playing when you registered on the forums they would have already taken it out. Trust me I had two characters and have never owned two accounts.

No theywereon the same server. I know what I am talking about others have done the same thing. The first reason they gave for taking it out was the Christmas art give out. I deleted my second character earlier than this because at the time there was no need for more than one character. We were all still noobs then.

Currently, I am at 8. I tried creating a character and it wouldn't let me. I contact tech support and they confirmed that the max characters allowed is 8, and this INCLUDES Jedi. So if you have 8 characters now, and you unlock in one of your chars, you might be in some trouble. Just a little notice.
earn your alt by unlocking jedi

You also have to realize the character limit is a database issue. No other MMORPG allows so much customization per character and all that takes up a lot of storage and I think it was stated by a Dev a while back that characters take up the majority of storage. Allowing more than a main and a jedi would cause SoE to cutother thingsback to make up for the increase in data.

You must have had the magic copy of SWG then because I've been playing since the second day and could never do it from the very start and never read anything about it on the forums.

for the record, the manual explicitly says 10 chars max. so the devs nerfed this recently without telling anyone
