Nope, Badges are just... something to do in the game. No real use for them, other than the Old Man, and something to have. I kind of look at it like Badges are an indicator of what i've accomplished in the game. And I like feeling accomplished, which is why I am a badge collector, and why my Bio is naught but made-up badges.

103 Badges here - only Politician, 2 Hutt Corvette, 3 Reb Corvette and 3 racing badges to go...or maybe I could go Imp and get the theme park and 3 Imp corvette
Too bad my main is going to become FS, or I'd go for politican and shipwright

Really wish I didn't have to manually count the damn things...

Are those coming with pub 10? If not then there are no badges for any Jedi skills, I'm done with my template and don't have a single badge for that.

There currenly are no badges being awarded for any Jedi professions...

Got bored, so I typed up all 33 profession badges. They're not sorted the way they are in game, but they're sorted into groups(Starter/Elite-Hybrid/Added Since Launch), and alphabetically in each group. Kind of like in the skill tree.
We'll see if I get bored enough to type up all the location badges tomorrow. Probably not.

You must be missing more than that... I have over 100 badges (around 105 now) and I'm only missing 15 badges from the game (10 prof, 4 vette total, and the 125 badge badge, plus all CSR given ones, but they don't count because CSR's aren't doing their job there).

Everything except 3 prof badges and 4 imp badges...and of course the accolade badges

Of course, the "Badges not yet received..." in your Character Information Sheet doesn't show EVERY badge. What comes to mind are the CoA badges, and the Accolade badges. There might possibly be more, though...

Oh I think the CSRs ARE doing their job... unfortunately it doesn't involve giving accolade badges.
Here's the bit from a Haden Blackman interview that concerns me about the reward badges...
[Haden Blackman] SOE and LEC are both committed to providing the best possible customer service for Star Wars Galaxies, but we need to do so in a very sane way. As these games grow, CS becomes a much more difficult task, and we recognize that. Part of providing a good CS experience, though, will definitely be managing expectations. Gone are the days when GMs regularly appear next to you to help you out. Instead, if you have a problem in SWG, we'll offer an automated help system as our first stab at addressing problems, then we'll direct the problem to CS. Only in rare instances will a CS rep need to enter the game to help you. We also plan to have CS reps that help everyone, regardless of which server they are on, and separate the roles of "GM" (a person who plans and hosts live events) and a CS rep (a person who deals with any in-game problems). We'll have automated reporting tools, too - we're trying to do everything we can to make it easier for a player to report a problem and have it resolved quickly.
He mentioned GM though... never seen one of those in SWG.
