Actually, we're now only getting 20% resists. The showing of 40% is a bug that refuses to go away (read: be fixed by the Dev's.)
And yes, they stripped Armor Rating a long time ago, Publish 9 I believe.
Before that, a Droid with normal HAM of 800 could be increased to about 2500 with AR2 and 40% resists. It would be very nice to still have AR2 on the current droids: Probots with 3500 HAM, Astromechs with 4500 HAM and LE Repair models with 6000 HAM!

With the combat rebalance comming I wanted to move this thread back up again for a short period of time. Thanks for all the comments and suggestions.

Great Guide! I never went combat cuz i couldn't fight without dyin as a low lvl brawler.Mabye I will now.

With the new longer life batteries you can now leave the bot in auto-repair mode. You will still need droid repair kits for
quick and additional healing of your bot. But you will not need as many as before.
Keep on tanking....
