I have found the /notepad very useful, except that I have reached some kind of limit with how many characters can put in it while in game. If I use the notepad.exe that comes with windows and edit the file externaly, I have no problems. Itswhen I try to add more to it via /notepad, I get strange things happening. So in the end, this is something I cannot use in game.

I set my notepad to open when I press my "N" key.
Creat a new macro and call it "Note"or whatever you like.
Within the macro type "/note".
Save it.
Go to your Ctrl-O options menu.
Select "controls" from the menu on the left.
Select "keymap" at the bottom of that menu.
Now search the "Custom" tab at the top from the menu that pops up and bind the "Note" macro you just created.

I boundit to my "N" key, for those that use the default SWG setup you may want to bind it to"ctrl-N"or whatever you like.

Also be aware that the notepad is the same one for each account, so it is shared between characters in that same account. This can be handy if you have characters on different servers and want to transfer info or to keep data that you couldn't email.
Actually (and this is a tip in itself, even though it has been mentioned before), anything that you can put in the notepad is something youcan mail. Just send an email to servername.playername and it'll go through.

I'd still like to know if/how to cut & paste within SWG :-)
Go to your Ctrl-O options menu
select "controls" from the menu on the left
Select "keymap" at the bottom of that menu
Now search the "Chat" tab at the top from the menu that pops up and rebind your "Chat text copy" and "chat text paste" command, or something like that.
Rebinding it to "ctrl-shift-c" and "ctrl-shift-v" is easy to remember.
I use /note a ton to save colored sign/structure names, keep notes on current creature resources, and to type up long emails before I send it..

rebinding to control-c and control-v is even easier to remember. I just rebind character sheet to control-shift-i and planetary map to control-shift-m
