Thread: Big Game Guide For Soloers
quotued from PadiOne-
kinda funny, but most of the creatures listed here only give me 1 xp when I kill em. The bull ronto's and bantha matriarch's being the exception. As you level up, the xp you get from these critters goes down, so what one player calls big game, another call a waste of time. My point isn't to make myself into a troll, but to demonstrate that there is a huge range of what can be considered big game depending on the player.
I remember when a desert squill was about 3500 xp for me, now it's 500.

The experience system for combat is scaled according to your level. For example, as a newbie on Tatooine, shooting gorgs would provied 15 xp each and lesser womp rats gave 40 xp apeice. Now, as a high level Pistoleer, everyone of them gives exactly 1 xp each. If your combat level is judged by the game to be above a given creature's challenge level, your weapon and combat xp is scaled back accordingly. The xp people quote for given creatures will not necessarily reflect what you will receive. Similarly, if a creature's challenge level is far above your own skill set, you will receive a larger than normal xp reward if you manage to bring it down. Though, unfortunately, there seems to be an xp cap on what you can receive for defeating any individual creature (seems to be about 3500 weapon, 350 combat).
Forgot, here is my addition to the list-
Gurnasets on Lok. Snorballs are indeed wonderful, if you should happen to come across them, but I've never seen a given mission to destroy them. Mission terminals on Lok will spawn Gurnaset Lairs, however, with pay about 2200-2400 credits. They are non-aggro, non-killer, and non-pack ( though their herd mentality means sometimes they will bring a pal when it charges after you). They are fairly slow, and with 3 or 4 Stopping Shots, Ive brought them down. When you begin to shoot the lair, I average spawning 3 more adults and 1 more baby Gurnaset.
I've soloed the bolle bol's post patch on endor. Yes they all attack me but I take misssion from the research outpost terminal to a lair. I usually maskscent on the way out there for scouting xp (plenty of reds around) and then angle myself so that only one is a dot and the rest remain arrows.
When I hit one it and usually only one other aggros. I hit with healthshot 1 first and then start running. I often use a phencine dart or some other trap to slow or dizzy them. I put a bleed on both of them (usually just two) and run. I'm a decent runner with exploration IV. I use the short on the third tier of ranged support (the one before suppresion fire) threaten I think? and that sends them running away. I do that to one and then land some body shots on the other. I also keep my inventory open to use stim B's if they get close and hit me.
This way I can usuallly get one to follow me and the other to drop off eventually, after a couple of threatens sends it running one way while I'm runnign the other.
Then I alternate threaten with body shots to keep the thing running toward and away from me until it dies. Then I head back to the lair to repeat.
I usually get about 1k experience and 100 combat Xp plus 160 or so scouting when I harvest them and around 160 or so trapping when I land a trap on them.
Thanks to a few early morning sessions of this I"m close to master scout (I only play a few hours a day)
So yes the bolle bol do add but they're manageable.
Oh for an edit button!
I should mention (before the devs nerf it to bits) that I die about 1/3 of the time doing this (partly because I'm new to these guerilla tactics) and if I run near any reds that plus the bolle bol proves too much and does me in. These are not without risk but its not that long a run back from the research outpost cloning center.......
I usually see Piket Longhorns (around 12k HAM) when I tend my farm on Dantooine. They are not aggressive (like their Fierce Piket cousins) - but have they been hit with the BAF bat that hit the Torturs? If no-one knows, I'll give it a try next time I'm there...
Sadly I would recommend terminating this Thread. Call me Mr Negative Butt, but it is clear that the Developers believe soloing to be, not a play style, but an exploit.
Every, and I do mean EVERY creature that was strong and soloable (ie no pack assist), that I hunted coming up (Tortons, Baz Nitches, the Bols from Dantooine to name just a few), has been made pack assist or Red conned when the Developers caught wind of them, except for one that I know of. I will NOT state the creature or the world because if someone from the Developer staff sees it they will nerf it.
They forget that there are two types of players...soloists and groupists. Soloing is not an exploit and that Gubber that doesn't pack assist ISN'T a bug.
Please don't become upset by this, my friends. I'm basing this on experience (and admittedly some pessimism). I would happilytell anyone who asks me in-game my solo spots, but since I trust the developers to consider me a walking exploit (I rarely group), I won't publiclly announce it. In any case, an alteration of tactics...the useage of warning shot, traps that slow, bleeding and Peacing Out...etc, still work even on, say Pack Assisting Tortons...that is until the Developers read this and change it.
Till then, strategy works. I have found one little trick that works well SOMETIMES. Target one of the creatures in a pack from beyond 60m, order your pet to attack. When he crosses the 60m line, Back him off and run. Now just a few, sometimes just one (usually not the one you have targeted), will run at him. This is a great safe way to spread out a group. I imagine that Smugglers can do this quite well by using Feign Death. This doesn't work well with, say Bols on Dathomir as it will only eliminate one or two from a pack.
Also, even the nastiest Reds...like rancor, will drop out one by one till just one is left chasing you. Launch your pet and start shooting...but don't tell any Developers you were successful. Hehe.
Still, as someone said earlier, the fastest CH xp is not the uber mobs (well...when we could solo Kimogilas before they became pack assist THEY were at 4k per kill), but using a level 10 pet, like 1 or 2 cu pas, and just madly kill in newbie zones. Rori is the best because they have the fastest respawn rate. You will get about 1k xp per 2 min which is far better than any large creature that takes longer to kill and you have to hunt, downtime, travel, get depleted, etc. Newbie Zones are unlimited killing spree. Stop when you're tired.
Anyway, if you are on Bria, send me a /tell. I'll happily tell you thequality solo spots that I am aware of. Unless you're a developer, then send me a Customer Service Email. I'll get back to you within a few weeks....

I have a suggestion if you hunt on Corellia. I solo all the time. I don't really like hunting in groups. My reccomendation, however, is only if you are very powerful, and preferably a CH. Sharnaffs on Corellia give some amazing XP. I can solo them and get about 4k from Sharnaff bulls and 3k from Sharnaffs. I also get about 550 CH XP per mob. These have helped me level an unbelievable ammount lately. The Sharnaff bulls will protect the others though, so be careful with them.
*sigh* and on the box it says you can hunt in groups or solo........
so much for that.....
I've taken to hunting dune banthas on Tatooine (still good experience for me - in the 360-470xp each depending on if I use a pet or not and then there's the nice wooly hide) and falumpasets on Naboo (less experience than dune banthas but they don't group on you and they give herbivore meat for the doctors).
Doncha love SoE's "my way or the highway?" attitude towards forcing people to group-hunt?
For the middleish player bolmas on dathomir are nice. As long as you find a cragg bolma lair you can get nice exp and they don't assist either unless you are like in their face and they aggro onto you. I got about 1k ch exp using only a single grand wrix and a decent amount of carbine exp (about 2k.)
Yavin IV
Mawgax - these 2 legged creatures are can net you any where from 1200xp (young mawgax) upwards to 4000+xp (giant mawgax). They DO pack attack but if u pull correctly or use a pet as a tank they're pretty easy to take down espcially with a knockdown skill.
Giant Crystal Snakes - they do aggro but dont death blow, so its possible to funk up a few times. The xp yields about 3800-4100xp. Maimen also aggro on them if they're too much. BTW Maimen are worthless only yielding 500 xp
Talus
Wolf Kimas - they're red aggro but you'll rarely see more than 2-3 together at a time. Wolf kima missions are also about 3900credits. And they dont deathblow.
Savage Huf Duns - They aggro too but if u can dispatch them fairly quick, or send a tank at them, they'll net about 1200-2000xp.
