There is also some information about how to experiment the segs in the tailoring FAQ, which is linked to the "READ THIS FIRST" stickie.

Have to admit I was surprised at what appears to be bitterness here. I can understand if you have been abused but lets look at the whole picture. By not selling the padding you are losing out on potential business. If you have been abused in the past..first few times their fault..after that it is yours for allowing it. As a master artisian armorsmith majority of my abuse has been from guildies. ..till I finally said heck no now its my fault. As example: I need a swoop..(me) great bring me the resources I be glad to make it for you..(them after looking for resources) hey thats too expensive for me (me) AND THERES YOUR SIGN DOH. Now in the new suits with mulitple layers experimentation will make a bigger difference. In original suit it was a simple one so experimenting on padding wouldnt show a viable difference.
Not sure what ingredients the padding takes...if its a guildie..make them bring u the hides needed..then charge them 3cpu per unit..if non guildie have them bring u the hides and 6cpr or more. Very few tailors have fighting skills. Not sure bout other servers but hides on intrepid insane. Even crap hides people think they should sell for 100cpu. I have second char that is master tka/doc and she gets me all my hides plus provides guild chef with meats she needs. Our guild tailor is never on so no need to supply that one but would if she played. Arch use wooly and i give all wooly that is not up to par for armor to him...quality not an issue with arch either.
Think its time for most guilds to kick in and work with crafters rather than expecting crafters to take care of them...hehe soz rant over but admit us crafters get stepped on way to much if allowed.

Has anyone seen the palettes for the hunters armor?
They get FEATHERS! And feathers have their own palette! I've been working with an armorsmith to do a web page similar to my catalog, so have been dealing in screenshots and palettes. The feather colors are fun to play with! It's all the bright vivid colors you find feathers in. Yellows (Real yellows), reds, greens, purples, blues...
I want feathers! A nice hat with feathers sticking out of it, or a feather boa!

It's not just guildies that step on some of us. Sometimes it's other crafters with feelings of entitlement, who aren't willing to pay what a service is worth, and get belligerent arout it. Now which crafter class that depends on tailors could I possibly be thinking of here…

Kristania,
The problems usually don't stem from us allowing ourselves to at first offer free schematics then later regret it. The problem arises from the fact that alot of armorsmiths (or for that manner, alot of different professions) don't even ask how much we would charge to make a schematic. They assume that since they are supplying the materials, that we should just give them the schematic. This attitude is what drives us to bitterness. I usually keep a large supply of all tailor components in stock, except for the wookie pillows. I make very good money selling these components and have several armorsmiths that regularly buy from me. These people are a joy to deal with. They always send me a heads up saying that they will be buying alot of synth cloth soon, so it gives me time make a factory run to meet their needs.
The wookie pillows are a different story. I cannot afford to pay 100cpu or more to get at most a few hundred wooly hide for an item that may or may not sell. The one and only time these have been requested of me, it was from an armorsmith that I didn't know. He demanded, not asked for politely, but demand I make him the schematic for free. When I said no, I charge 5cr per segment to make a schematic, he bad mouthed me, told me I was an idiot, told me he was telling his guild never to shop from me, etc.
I can also agree with you too about guilds need to treat their crafters better. I have yet to join a guild mainly due to that fact. Most people that approach me are looking for a tailor slave bot to craft their ub3r l33t lootz. I would love to find a guild where the crafters and the gun bunnies respect and work with each other. But those seem to be a very low minority.
Anyway, before this becomes a doctoral thesis, just keep in mind that some off us don't mind the selling of components, just as long as its not demanded of us at a loss to either our resources or our time.

Ergo, not doing the padding thing, nor selling/making schematics. You answered your own question.

I got better than that.
I don't have the other armors up, but I wanted to play around with it, so I put up a page with the hunter's armor. This is the composite-alike-stuff.
(And please don't pass that link around, it's just a temp thing, eventually the pictures will be on the webpage of an armorsmith I'm working with.)

that doesn't really look like the true yellow I was hopeing for so I guess I forgive the devs.
I dunno, but it looks like the feather pallet is just bits and pieces from other pallets. That "yellow" looks like the "yellow" from the leather pallet.

The yellow of leathers is a pretty good yellow. Cloth is what's lacking a yellow. The yellow of the feathers is a pretty good yellow in the palette, but the feathers seem to be awful at taking the colors.
