Ok Julian, shooting guns have nothing to do with jumping into hyperspace. What I was saying is that currently you can't even shoot from your speeder bike (which would have been a cool feature). So they may not even include hyperspace. But if they do, they should impliment it so it works the same way as the burst run. (See one of my last posts for details). I don't think you will be able to fire a missile and run (as that's my whole basis for going to a "burst run" system, again see my hyperspace post). Anyway, I hope this clears things up for you.

My guess is that space travel will be broken down into zones. Most likely each planet will have an "orbital" zone, there will be some POI "zones" (ie an Asteroid Field) and some mission zones. To go from a planet to its OZ will be a load, as will vice-versa... unfortunately, I doubt that we will be able to fly down through the atmosphere and land where we want. Most likely when you choose to "land", you will be given a choice of spaceport and you and anyone else on your ship will spawn there.


Going from zone to zone will require Hyperspace and load screens and all Hyperspace will be is a load screen.


Something I am curious about... is there any point to transports other than passengers? Freight isn't an issue... I can carry a few million resources easily in my backpack.


And it will (and should) be based on character skills. I suspect their will be skill mods like Pilot Defense and Pilot Gunnery Accuracy for the Pilot Profession. Making it twitch would be like making combat professions use FPS and making Dancers use DDR pads (though that would solve the afk issue :smileywink.





No decay + uber loot = /spit on crafters

Fix the economy and give crafters their $$$ worth... give us real revamp.

Remember... to Cancel you have to go to Register Expansion in the Launchpad.

Ok SilentHtr ..gotcha..Im pretty sure there will be hyperspace or some version of it though.


QuiJonOZ your post on space travel sounds like thats the way the developers would do it. However, this is how I hope they do some of it. This is a rehash and already mentioned- for the planets that are close to each otherit would be nice ifit would be seamlesstravelbetween the closer planets ie. similar to travelling between cities on the same planet with no loading times. Loading times, hyperspace etc..should come into play when the planets are further apart.


I know I said earlier in a previous postseamless travel probably wont happen because of hyper travel, but I think it should beseamless for planets that arerelatively close to each other. Just like travel is seamless on the surface of a planet when you are going from one city to another. I suspect the prime reason seamless travel may not happen is because the game engine is not built for that..who knows.


Lastly..IF THERE WILL BE SPACE DOCKS OR FACILITIES IN OUTSPACE THAT YOU CAN INTERACT WITH AND DOCK, I HOPETHAT PLAYERS WILL BE ABLE TO PEER OUT OF WINDOWS TO SEE OUTSPACE FROM A CHARACTER PERPSECTIVE AND BE ABLE TO WALK AROUND THE FACILITIES. IT DEFINITELY WILL NOT FEEL LIKE SPACE IF WE ARE CONFINED TO A COCKPIT BOX.

I think atmospheric flight can work if the normal SWG players can see the ships flying around, they just can't enter them. Like the ships we have flying in the skies today...

Iam hoping that there is some planets that require you to take your own ship there (you can't just use a npc transport to get there)

i hope that when you buy a ship, that parts of it break down or get damaged, but never should you lose the ship, shouldnt be any disabled ships around


id like to have to buy a new shield generator or a computer for the ship, and have different types of each, some cheaper but not as good, some pricey but top of the line, and smaller ships can only have a few things in it, were as larger ships have more slots for better items, i know the first day i could id like to buy the largest ship i can, load it up with a fighter if i could, then put the best technology on it, and decorate it to my own taste


personally id like to havea yacht like jabba had, mayb not as big but something alittle more personal over a speedbike, but i doubt they'll release any larger vehicles, especially in a expansion as then they would have to patch it in for everyone so they could see teh vehicles

Personal point of view here

Where to land ?

Personally I dont think you should be able to land just anywhere, that isn't feasable. Landing should be done on a landing pad at a starport I feel. Perhaps the starport could have several docking bays with pads in each of them.. I mean you can code it so it is actually larger inside than out lol.


I also think however that Landing pads should be buyable/buildable.. so you cna buy one and place it like a building, so it can be near your house. Whoever has admin to it can land their ship on it. I think that would be the easiest way to be able to make it so you can land anywhere, as it would also clear up the point of a hundred ppl trying to land in the same place
