Excellent! Finally!

Love the fact that faction armor becomes useful. And it's soo cool that the scout armor will be available! The Stormtrooper armor is so great from before, so I'm really glad it becomes useful. This is Star Wars.

The Imperial Shock trooper looks weird in my opinion though. There's plenty of armor out there for the Imperials already, why design something new?

As for the rebels: All I can say is that I'm glad I'm not a rebel lol That design is AWFUL and looks totally misplaced in Star Wars. Would be better off in Star Trek or some LOTR-inspired fantasy game- which this is not. This is not Star Wars.

I have never seen anything like this in the films, andit should have beenreported toLucasFilm in my opinion!!!!

Ok first off I have a question about the Rebel Recon Armor. Since its basically just the current Marine Armor we already have in-game with added bracers and gloves, will all pre-CU marine armor be changed so that it has the Rebel logo on it or will they stay the same? The reasonI ask is because at the moment to get the Chest plate with the logo on it you have to loot it from the Corellian Corvette and anyone can tell you thats not a simple task.

I'm liking the new Imp armors, the regularst and scout trooper armors we all have already seen since its already in the game but the shock trooper armor is pretty nice, It somewhat reminds me of clone trooper armor from the new triliogy. Now the rebel armor on the other hand I don't know where to begin. I actually like the the arms legs and chest of the rebel battle armor, the boots look quite strange with that huge round shape at the kneecap if you took that off they would look pretty decent, now the helmet well i have no idea what the guy was thinking when he thought that should go with it but it reminds me of Mandalorian Neo-Cruisader Armor mixed with the helmets from the tantive at the beginning of ANH (If you have no idea what Mando Neo-Cruisader Armor looks like it was the Mandos armor in KOTOR). The recon armor would be fine if it didn't have that helmet that looked like a Mon-Cal was the model for the mold when it was made, if it were the shape of the RoTJ commando helmet then it would probably be more appealing to most. Ok that just leaves the rebel assault armor, if you take off the rebel logo and not think about it being rebel armor it looks like some sort of robot bounty hunter, although the chest and legsare somewhat nice, the boots still have that ugly round thing at the kneecap, the gloves have pads on them that make them look like boxing gloves, the bicepts have should pads on 'em that make them look like wings, and the helmet just looks like a covered over version of the padded armor. Overall with some minor tweaks to the looks of each they might look a lotbetter, although thats just my opinion and i'm sure there are those out there that have absolutely no problem with the armor at all. No matter what i'll still have a full set of each in my respective houses but will most likely mix and match the better of the looking rebel stuff with non-faction stuff to get a look that I wouldn't have to log my second account in just to kill me for wearing.

I have to agree, your armor designer has a serious thing for the flaired out helmet look like in RIS. No need to bring it into the rebel armor as well. Interesting armor is one thing, but lets keep it Star Wars and not some anime fan's sick armor dream -- diverisfy!!!!

Actually, as pointed out by someone else (and I never saw the link to the idea untill someone pointed out!), the battle armor for rebels, helmet...looks allot like the clam helmet worn by the rebel troopers from ANH.

This new Rebel Armor is canon now

Just one thing TH, I also agree that the new Rebel armour is a bit "nasty" but understand there is no "canon" (as far as the films go) Rebel armour. However...

What if an armour option was the uniform worn on the Tantative IV? I know technically it's not armour, but is there any reason why it couldn't have armour values given to it? I'd much rather suspend my disbelief (that clothes offer protection) and fight players who look like things from the movies.

For all we know, that uniform could have a built in shield thus providing protection. Armour does not necessarily have to look like armour all the time - and I think a lot of players would be willing to accept "canonical clothes" offering protection if it leads to a better feeling of Star Warsyness.

Plus this would then lend itself to other clothing such as Imp Uniforms, Imperial Guards and so forth.

Just because it offers protection, doesn't mean it has to look like armour. Your "get-out-clause" is simple - all these outfits have "hidden PSG's" in.

And we can kiss-off all Starwarseyness as a result?

At least they COULD have taken into account the uniforms the Rebels used in the movies.

The Rebel armor they have looks BETTER than the Imps ST armor. Thats Starwarsey?

Um... the Rebel Battle Armor helmet does look inspired by the helmet worn in ANH if you look closely. So I'd say they did take into account the uniforms worn by Rebels in the movies. And you know what else? I bet you could get a tailor to make you pretty much the exact uniform the Rebels wore on the Tantive V if you wanted to. I doubt any armor they wouldwear would look exactly like their uniforms. I mean, the Imperial's armor looks nothing like their uniforms, does it?

True, but nobody would wear them on the battlefields. Which is the problem. Just as imperials don't use Stormtrooper armor now, because Composite is better. This also kills immersion!
Charactersthat are in a galactic civil war faction are encouraged to wear things that make the game look and feel more like the movies rather than enforcing some fictional stuff that came out of the developers creative mind.
What bad would it do to have more padded versions of thething rebel troopers worein the movies and make them work like armor? Nobody will go into battle in simple clothing when the opposition is armored from heat to toe in this game as they would be decimated quite quickly.
Also, factional armor should be the best, so people would be encouraged to wear it, but with the greater risk of being overt.

For me it is important to make the game feel much more like Star Wars, and authentic clothing/armor, items, models andsuch would be a big step towards it. The introduction of new armor is a great way to do this, but right now it looks like the devs blew it.

With this said, the rebel armor in the Friday feature are simply counterproductive to the Star Wars look and feel of the game and will turn many Star Wars fans off.

While I do like the new designs (though I think the shock trooper, rebel battle andrebel recon armor could use some improvement, and the rebel assault armor looks like something out of Rollerball), I sympathize with those people who would've preferred something more "Star Warsy".

That in mind, here's what I would've done:

1. Unarmed or lightly armored players have an innately high dodge modifier. This is consistant with the movies, where rebels were routinely seen getting shot at and rarely hit.

2. Rebel armor is light armor comprised of protective plates over critical areas, covered with flexible protective materials. This allows for the appearance as shown in the movies while still believably providing some protection. For reference, look at any modern body armor - bullet resistant vests, kevlar/spectra woven garments, etc.

3. Imperial stormtrooper armor is heavier and more cumbersome, incurring penalties to movement speed, dodge modifier, attack speed, and stamina (HAM drain/regen).

You'll notice that in the movies, ST armor seems to be pretty much rubbish; rebs routinely take out stormtroopers with one shot. Composite-like protection seems out of line with anything from the movies. Here's a thought: redo the whole battle system, so instead of people pounding on eachother with laser rifles for ten minutes, one or two-hit kills become the norm. Think Counterstrike. People may have serious objections to this, but think about it: suddenly tactical play - terrain usage, stealth, traps, etc. - becomes much more important.I can imagine this being much more intense and exciting than the current system. However, this is socompletely different from the current system that I have my doubts it would be reasonably possible. Certainly massive amounts of rethinking and recoding would need to take place. Network latency would be much more of an issue. Would it be possible? Probably... twitch-based combat in space seems to be working alright.

Edit:Forgot to add - a simple fix to the hands/feet armor issue is just to make gloves/boots part of the bracers/leggings for those races that can wear them.

Edit2: Hmm... one-starred for what I thought were reasonably good suggestions... thanks to whomever bumped the rating back up, in any case.

I think all the armor is great and the whole "its too hightech" for rebels, take a closer look, alot of the parts look cloth like with bits of metal shoved onto cover major points.

I hope they keep them and bring them in if they do change rebels hope they keep these designs for quests or neutral armour later be awesome to wear and use

One question... Will storm trooper armor still be earned the same way or will the millions of credits worth of suits I've bought and earned be worthless after the revamp?

i think one of the things that you guys really missed the point of everything that any rebel ever wore in the movies, is that you could see thier faces. the only people on the imperial side that you saw were the officers. everyone else, all the storm troopers, looked exactly like the last one you killed. i think it just made it so that when you saw a rebel die, you saw a person dieing. Not just a body in a plastic shell.
