Thread: Sabbath's Guide to Fishing
My name is Diamond-Dallas Page and I've been fishing for a couple hours now, can't catch anything. When it says nibble, I tug, when it says bite, I tug or reel, then I lose my bait or reel in the line.
And bait is only slightly easier to get than a light sabre....
I think the chance of catching fish should be upped from 0% to 50%. I think the stupid fishing menu should be done away with, or re-vamped so that the options are actual buttons or commands you can set to a F-Slot (I AM A SERIOUS FISHERMAN PEOPLE). Honestly you can set 8 different Fkeys to dancing/music flourishes but there is no key for fishing and it's super hard so QUIT IT.
It should garner scouting xp or wilderness survival or SOMEthing. IT"s like the hardest thing in the game to do apparently (I have hunted Kimos on Lok with far greater success).
Main problem with fishing:
Ah, fishing is one of the reasons I love this game. As for bait, you need to forage or buy it on the marketplace... Although you will never see me selling it
So far I have found worm bait and insect bait.
In the talus river, right outside of town I have caught some Blackfish, filet them up and got about 7 units out of a 3 pounder... Then I put the fish up for sale which nobody buys! Also, I have this empty fish which I dont know how to use.
As a matter of fact, how do I do anything with meat or fish... Are their cooks that will buy this? What about all this cool foraged food I find that does wonders for stats... I dont see a market area for food, just misc stuff it gets lost in.
Yes, there are people who will buy this. I am working on being a Chef, and I'm always looking for meat of any kind, including fish. I'm not a very good fighter, and mostly keep close to the city, so I am willing to buy some harder-to-find resources like fish, meat, and hide.
Tip: The more units of a single type, the more valuable. If I have a recipe that calls for 8 units of meat, it does me no good to buy 7 units of one fish, and 1 unit of another. They won't work together, so I look for the larger groups of a resource.
-Overquake "Surveyor"
Coronet, Corellia, Chilestra
I gave fishing a purpose by holding a tournament on Naboo (Flurry server). I paid out 5000 credits to the person who could bring me the biggest fish.
It was great fun and really promoted fishing as something other then a useless task. Now I have opened a bait shop and can't keep it stocked. People even buy the fileted fish after I am done with them
-Busey
you can't mount it on the wall but you can put them on the floor..
Here are the fish I have caught so far on Naboo:
Ray
Bluefish
Laa
Blowfish
Striped Fish
and some red one I can't remember the name... ![]()
Are there different types on different planets? I have only fished on Naboo.
The other red one was called a Faa. So that's six types so far. And I caught the same fish on Rori as I did on Naboo.
Anyone catch any not on my list?
yes, you can craft, forage and just about anything that doesn't require you to equip something in your hands (like a weapon). However you do have to be close to water.
Last night I tried pitching camp next to water and fishing from the camp. This doesn't work because the camp automatically levels and fills in dirt where the water should be. Seems kinda silly but makes sense as well because you don't want people pitching camps for extra xp while they fish. Of course fishing itself (at least when successful) should REALLY give wilderness survival xp (as should foraging). Having camping be the only thing that gives wilderness survival xp is silly, especially since crafters can now "practice" to getcrafting xp. Not to mention the boatloads of camping xp you need when you get to the Ranger tree.
I noticed that too.
Fishing poles can have different qualities , i even think with one of the next patches the Devs are going to make the quality of the pole visible (cant right say where i read this)
Another tip : When the bait status shows mush , you will loose your bait most likely after one of the next bites or nibbles
Just stop fishing and cast your line and the bait is fresh again without loosing the bait.
Do it, you will notice a great decrease of lost baits.
Also look out for some handcrafted poles .
I use one and since that i didnt loose a single fish once i had the caught message.
(i think the pole is of good quality)
