As of now, this will kill SWG imo.

Some like it, some will stay, and they will be lonely.

Some will complain no matter what happens...

Some of my pet peeve bugs:
•Armorsmith protection layers were not converted with the CU.
•Ship Details window does not close when you click "Travel" resulting in the message "You have lost the target. Closing interface."

why you hate the CU so much... now it looks more like a RPG/ tactical game, then the current swg... where you go kill 60K ham if you just need to kill some time....

now you need groups to do that... i think that is the way swg should go.

Well, there are enough other posts here to tell you the answer to that question but let me ask you-how are crafters supposed to get resources and survey with this new system when you can get 1 shot incapped just because of your "level":

And the the Rpg/tactical thing..another question for you. How is a Kreetle that hits a crafter for 1200 points but hits and Elite Profession ofr 100 points have any "RPG" value? It's the same friggin bug! How are medics not getting XP in Med Center "RPGlike"? How iAre Entertainers not being able to hold a sword or pole to dance with "RPGlike"? How are Imperial guilds not being able to wear Stormtrooper armor "RPGlike"?

I'll let some fighters explain how the tactical aspect fails too.

Just to give my veiw on the the whole crfting thing. Here is my GUIDE to crafting after the CU.

If you want to be a sole crafter with no combat skill you have a number of options.

1) Hire guards , guild mates etc to escort you to the place you want to place havesters. There are lots of combat characters that are always shouting for contend story based missions etc, well here is the best opitunity to create our own.

2) Craft, don't mine. Use a third party to get your ressorses, buy them of some one who wants to have some combat but also wants to do some crafting/Ressorse colecting.

3) Pick up some scout skills and try to avoid danger using tactics like marsk scent, your radar and get your self a combat droid to take agro of your bag while you do your work and get out of there.

The CU still needs a lot of work but it is getting there I like it more the more I play it, sure there's a long way to go befor it should go live but it won't happen with out good feedback.

Hmm, 2 problems with this. Number one, people aren't going to like standing around and following me for 2-3 hours every couple of days for resources spawn on non-adventure planets (that shouldn't have very few hard mobs for anyone in the first place) and unless they have "magical" shielding, they can't protect us when we are on our speeder and get one shot incapped-3 times and they are waiting around for us back at the cloner to "rinse and repeat"

2) Craft, don't mine. Use a third party to get your ressorses, buy them of some one who wants to have some combat but also wants to do some crafting/Ressorse colecting. I like this part of the game-collecting resources etc. I wouldn't take 50% of the game away form combat people and it also controls costs. A way the devs could fix this is let us build a droid that can put power, money and collect resources from harvesters and do remote surveying. It would still give me the feel for holding control over my own resource collecting.

3) Pick up some scout skills and try to avoid danger using tactics like marsk scent, your radar and get your self a combat droid to take agro of your bag while you do your work and get out of there. With one skill point left, scout skills is a non-starter unless chefs can make a food to do it that EVERYONE can use and a combat droid has the same probelm as bodyguards-no protection while driving and also 15 seconds to call. It also won't attack more than one target at once. Avoiding targets won't work if they are right by your harvesters or spawn on top of you.

The CU still needs a lot of work but it is getting there I like it more the more I play it, sure there's a long way to go befor it should go live but it won't happen with out good feedback.
We have given multitudes of feedback and have been ignored.

I concur with your observations. This was a great way to spend a few hours on your own when I the player had time to play. I could group and did, but most of my time is doing things I wanted to do when I wanted to do them. The CU is killing that.

I have been on test center and don't believe new players will play long and old players will have to change playing styles to continue. Having worked in marketing I am don't think this dog is going to hunt long. I may be wrong, there could be a lot of group combat players that want this and will make it go and the development team will be heros. However, they have developed a new game.

I find it very strange that a game with a direct tie to a marketing steam roller would want a great change. I am wondering if it because the other ideas have failed?

The CU is making a new game even for long time players unless they were pure combat and maybe that is where the players and the market are going to. After the changes I see - my two year old toon will not be the same character. He will not be the free roaming adventurer. I am loosing most of the folks I have played with so I may go too.

I plan to try the expansion and the upgrade. If it does not work I will not renew my subscription.

I'm going crafter after CU, just to prove that we're not all spineless whimps afraid of Corellian Butterflies.

And I'll have most of the market to myself, haha.

Well from what the Devs keep saying over and over again is it will take more stradegey and faster paced, myself I don't see that, the supposbly increase of "skill moves" actualy decreased, stradegey I don't see, mainly it is just group with a big group and you can still probably solo, speed I don't see all you half to do is just ctrl click on the attack you wan't to use so they realy did not change the spamming just made it slower. Also some little problems are the graphics and sounds, they said there would be "new looks in moves" yet all they did was change the color of blasters to only 2 colors, made melee weapons sound like drums when they hit, and made this game Level Based. Like I said though and just think on what they said about it way before TC5 ever came out was this "The CU will make the game more stradgegy based and faster paced combat, new armor, new moves, and new mods." No where did it ever say they would change combat completely.

CU is end game thats all....

The moment they release that mutant upgrade thousands will cancel accounts

Ppl who say CU i cool will have to look for eachother for a long time in empty servers

Looking at the letter to community and the dev chat

Its so clear that they don t care what we think/want/like, they keep pushing the CU while everybody hates it

Well goes around comes around

If i did like Warcraft universe or the stupid Eq i would be playing them

They are killing everything including crafting

Nothing unique about this game anymore

Well, I hope people don't take you seriouly because you'll have 2 servers left with empty populations..at least then all 8 of you playing at a time can group in the "new. faster paced combat"
