Maybe we need an Enemies list?

Well in order to keep track of "enemies" its sometimes vital to put them on your friends list as how else woul you know when theyre online, this however means that they can find you as well as them, which sucks the big one, as only way around is to remove from friends list, but then you take them off and you still find a big gank squad waiting for you as you didnt see any of them coming online

its a bad idea overall

It's not called the "friends, guildmates, people who I find annoying, and annoying PvPers" list, it's called the friends list.

It's amazing that people seem so concerned about their own privacy when some of the reasons they offer for having people on their Friends list are just as intrusive.

No, it's not that for you. Personally, I'd like to see another list, as my friends list currently is my "friends, guildmates, people who I find annoying, and annoying PvPers" list.

Well, if you feel it's OK to keep tabs on people who aren't your actual friends, don't complain when they know what you're up to as well. It almost sounds as if you want others to respect your privacy but are unwilling to offer the same consideration.

Doesn't seem to work for people not on my friends list.. maybe it's a rare bug.. or something.

I wonder if they put it in to disuade people from using the friends list as an enemy tracker. By giving the people you are snooping on the power to track you down, it kind of makes it less attractive.

I have been in the game for less then 15 mins, and already 3 of my old stalkers in the game have already found where I moved to in the game. They have all showed up on my doorstep because now with /findfriend it leads them right to you if they are on the same planet I am guessing. REALLY BAD IDEA!

Suggestions

remove this feature all together because its a violation of our rights to privacy.

Give us an option to turn it off so if I dont want players to use this option it just doesnt work. Make the option under Control O just like you can make your profile searchable, make this a flag that can be turned on and off.

Your privacy is totally now because if I goto a secret location, ANYONE can find me. This also goes for jedi now, if you need to find a jedi HEY /findfriend and BOOYA there he is.

I also feel that people you dont want to deal with can always find you and there is no escape people who stalk you sexually and mentally as a dancer, you can now never get away from. Ok so I have to ban them from my house while they stand outside and yell things to me. I can only add so many people to my ignore list.

I vote remove it or make it an On and Off feature each user can turn on and off. I totally feel violated after this and I am guessing many others do as well..

this is a joke right ? you read the bit about only if they on your friends list and are just being funny ?

nvm, if ghost151 is right then theres no problem, but what i was going to suggest is that to put someone on your buddy list, that person has to accept it, could be done via popup, similar to the group invite popup

this can be a bad thing in pvp.

lets say me and a group of 10 or so want to go attack a rebel base or such. if we are seen anywhere along the way and head to a new planet then people are more likely to be able to track. just because i take all enemies off my friend list [which is a pain] all it takes is one in the group to have an enemy on there friend list and 'poof' they know exactly where the attack is coming from. Just because there are 3 major rebel bases to choose from and they may not be able to be fully ready at all 3 now they only need to be ready to defend one location.

If they did it for that reason, I applaud them. Using the friends list to track enemies wasn't the idea to begin with. In fact, I've seen other games where it's the frist step in griefing someone.

What about the people that are your friends, but are of different faction? I don't want them to track me down any time of day, but I would like to talk to them every once in a while. They are still competitive, but are my friends too. They are friendly rivals. This patch makes it so I can't have them on my friends list anymore.
