Nice job. I'm not sure how much it really matters but a mention of NPC lairs might be a useful add on. They only have one wave, the one that is initially up. After you kill them, just blast the lair. Although this doesn't mean much for most Rangers...

Dont u just hate when noobs keep shooting the lair?? Or for example one is the only guy with a decent pet, and is

unlucky enough to hunt with 5 spoiled grinders. They usually dont have a clue what is goint on. So, u attack a lair of

Slinking Voritors or quenker relic reapers and your pet gets a decent licking, but none else gets any damage except

specials. So I am standing there, healing the live insurance, and suddenly u hear this: ALL RDY? 1 second later, rdy

and off it goes. I may be in good health, but my pet has about 100 HAM left. I have to say, I hate it when my pet looses vitality.

I really love my pets. It is always such a hassle to tame them. But worth it.

So, when u have the honour of 2 grinder or kiddie commandos this usually happens. Both get theis Zippos out and try to be as

selfish as possible by using flame cone 2 or something like that on the lair. This results in not 1 but 2 waves comming at them.

Then they die and ask me y I didnt kill my bet (which has about 100 HAM left as mentioned) by saving their anti-social %$&!§%$=?")=?.

Btw, I normally tell everyone beforehand to wait for my pet to get healed. So I normally just watch them get killed, heal my pet and do the killing over their dead bodies, as I dont have a choice.

That drives me nuts.

WHEN WILL THE PEOPLE LEARN THAT THERE R ACTUALLY GUYS WHO KNOW WHAT THEY R DOING??

I even made a macro for teamspeak which tells peeps what to do. I gave up valuable quick.access space for that. That is how fed up I am.

I think in the next patch they should include a PUNISH feature which the teamleades can use. For stupid team-members.... Hehe, that

would actually be a nice thing to have...

Well, so long,

good hunting

Just a small suggestion--instead of wasting a toolbar slot for the macro, just assign it a hotkey. You can do it in the controls page and I'd be very surprised if you can't find any hotkeys left for it. Or, as I don't expect you to need the macro more than once or twice a night, /macro tellNoobsOff should work for you.

As for your pets, good for you. I partially ended up dropping CH because of this. No one had any respect for pets and I hated seeing them get beat up. Although I do miss being able to call my pets out (I still have a datapad full of them). It's hard to to pet your datapad objects...

I may have to make this required reading for the random people who ask me to hunt with them. I usually solo, but will join a party once and a while if one is being formed. The last time I got so frustrated because people kept doing everything you said they shouldn't do in the post. Finally I declaired that only the person who owns the misson can hit the lair untill all the waves have been extinguished. It worked for a bit as I coached each person thru the process of taking down their lairs, but for some reason after a while they got impatient and just did what they wanted. The party got worked by a bunch of rancors; man that was funny. myself and maybe tow others managed to run away, but the other five or six were all slain. I just set up camp and watched the chaos from a safe distance.

Oh, and to clarify cuz I never realized this, whenever a lair says something speciffic like "a mutant baz nitch lair" or whatever, that means that it is someone's mission? That's something EVERYBODY should know, but maybe unaware of.

Yes. If no one in the group has that mission, it might be thought inconsiderate to farm it, as someone might have wanted the harvest your party took Think of is as MMO-etiquette. Sometimes it can't be helped, however

Speaking of completely insane hunting. How about taking on a lair then suddenly having a noob run back yelling help me only to find out that he needs help fighting a pair of Singing Mountain Clan Dark Force Weilding pain in the butts and a couple of their friends. (oh did I mention the dark force wielders were red con to the group of 10?) That is what I call fun.

Anyway, Fred you considered posting this on the trade forums or each of us routing it back to our respective server boards? Just a thought since only the experienced seem to be on this forum more often than not.

Good luck to everyone,

shoot the lair until JUST BEFORE you have damaged it to half of the lairs hitpoints. Whatever you do STOP SHOOTING IF YOU SEE A CRITTER COME OUT

Great guide, but FFS, the amount to people who get this wrong still dumbfounds me. its TWO THIRDS of the total lair hitpoints, not half.

To make it easy for myself, I have my own ham bar in the top left corner of the screen, below that, I setup my target ham bar, below that, I set up my group members HAM bar.

I made MY HAM bar and the target HAM bar the same width.

Then I found a lair, divided its total HAM by 3, and times by 2. After dealing with the first 2 spawns (i.e. the one that was already outside when I arrived, and the one after a single tap) I gently, carefully tapped the lair down to just above my 2/3rd's target.

once id done that, I then resized the width of my groups ham bars to match up with the lair health at 2/3'rds.

Jobe done (obviously, youll need a droid or pet for this, even if its just a CL10 job)

Some lairs look like 2/3'ds I think because the CL of the critter in relation to the planet level (n00b planet lairs have less HP) draws a certain HP out of the lair when the Active spawn is is play. I have done the 2/3'ds bit for MONTHS and then tap-tap-tap and believe me, on Adventure! planet that lair will refuse to budge till under 2/3'ds and sometimes under half. I believe this got messed up when they "adjusted" the HP of the lair.

Best thing to do is STOP at 2/3 and see. Tap it every 30 sec if it's not being cooperative. This is why I said before half way. How much before you will have to learn, it is not the same for each species, even the same species across different planets.

One of the best ways and fastest ways to get lots of corpses in the shortest amount of time is to get a Tank pet and to have an attack that does a cone of damage, I will use fanshot for this example...

  1. Find a nice hard level creature lair I was useing Mawgax on Yavin, something that will take a while for you to destroy with your weapon.

  2. Send in your pet to attack the lair. You need a nice tank pet with high hams

  3. All the animals around should now go to heal the lair or attack the pet (one may attack you, but it is easily dealt with in step 4)

  4. Now instead of attacking each animal, all you have to do is target the lair and fanshot it, you will be hitting everything around it even the animals attacking you.

  5. Because you are hitting the lair, creatures will continue to spawn, and also because you are attacking the lair, the animals will continue to try and heal it.

  6. Because you have your pet attacking the lair, the new spawns will atatck him rather than you, maybe 1 will come for you, but he will get killed by the collateral damage of the fanshot, the pet is there to keep the heat of f you.

  7. The fanshot area attack will hit everything and kill everyhting around the lair, it will tap it to its full potential and you will have all the corpses in a nice neat pile to harvest.

  8. The speed of this method you will enjoy, its about 5x's faster than killing 1 wave then tapping and killing the next, you will harvest 5x's the amount of meat in the time it would normally take you to harvest the conventional way

This is the best way to get meat and xp and its incredibly fast and efficient, try the other ways, I have, but this is the Beccabi way to do it... You need a nice tank pet that can absorb damage and you need a good area attack that won't do insane damage, fanshot is perfect... I used to use LLC cone2 but that sometimes did too much damage, but it works just as well on tougher lairs with lots of ham... Try it, you will not hunt any other way once you see how effective this is.

Beccabi,

You can only do that on a select few species, and only mission lairs. Even then you sacrifice harvest for speed. This is a technique for grinders and holo chasers, not harvestors espescially when grouped. You do this on a natural lair and you loose 20-40% of your harvest. Do this on a Durni lair (Why? because they are the only Wooley droppers on Corellia. What are you going to do when the AS needs that wooley, yesterday?) and you will get 15-17 animals instead of 30. Sure, 15 to 17 bodies looks impressive sitting there on the ground but I get people asking me all the time how I can get 3ku wooley an hour off of those things when they are lucky to get 800 units. This is how.

This postis a general, overall technique that works on every lair. It's a fundimental techinque. When you get more experienced how each lair works and speciation differences, there are more advanced techiques to help speed up the process (I hinted on this in the Crazed Durni example. This can be applied to bigger things and is similar to what you discribed, although takes the passives into account). This is Lairs 101, I may try to codify Lairs 201 that can yield a full Enraged Rancor, a Natural one, in 10 minutes. You are kind of fixed to that 10 minutes, btw, in any natural lair because half of the product is on that passive side, but you can do both at the same time. That does need a tank or 2 and I don't reccomend it solo ether (altho, can be done ). Maybe that would be Lairs 301...
