to stop a macro, type /dump in the chat window.
or if your macro runs to fast for that, create a seperate macro and hotkey itwith just the /dump line.

this macro works fine, although I find I need to manually load the resources each time ?

is there a way to automate this part of the process ?

as stated earlier you need to count the schematics in your datapad in icon mode. The schematics are numbered starting at 00. If you are using a Food and Chem crafting tool you need to only count the schematics that that tool can make. You should also skip over any schematics that require a private crafting station, since you wont want to be near a crafting station when grinding, thus these schematics wont have any effect. If you get really confused open your Food and Chem tool away from a crafting station (dont forget droids can have crafting stations too and docs may have these out in cities for buffing) and look at everything it will make. That is a tedious process, but useful if you have multiple crafting profs. Also, an easy way is to keep your macro window open and start the macro. Take note of the schematice it selects, or hit dump if you're not fast enough, and then you know the number of that schematic in the datapad. If it is right have at it, if not, then just modify your draft schematic number until it is right. This will only take you about 5 minutes to do. Once you figure out how it all works changing schematic numbers is pretty easy. Keep in mind if you sort your datapad it will change the number. Finally, you can ask a friend with a similar template if they know the draft schematic number, but even that isnt always accurate.
