You need to find a Force Sensitive or a Jedi with the Repair tree. It gives a +20 Repair mod for repairing anything. However, if I was them, I would charge a very high price for it.

i think Battle fatique plays into it as well... i tend to get better repairs when my BF is at 0

One piece of advice that was given to me if you are repairing youe own items is. "Make sure you are standing in from of a vendor for that item, armor, weapons, as this will enhance your sucess, only because you made the trip to go buy a new one". Seems to work for me atleast.
LOVE LOVE LOVE it lol --- repair fails and it VANISHES????? Never ever heard that one.
I agree that 99% or better tools help but its also a total roll of the dice. The only thing that is currently in the game to the best of my knowledge that actually works is the FS repair tree..

Failure don't vanish anymore, they fixed it. My brother is a weaponsmith, i takes his armor off, sits down & puts on his +5 repair toolbelt & uses a +99 tool & does better then i can, i just looted a +6 repair robe to add to it!
Anyway you should have posted a new post & not dug this old thing up, you see the post date of the first one?
