laser without a doubt, jawas kinda suck unless u are PvPing or a creature has really high energy resists and the steps in the stun type attack of the jawa

Yeah, go for laser.

Apart from the AP and speed, Lasers and T21s are identical. But I do have a pretty good laser and a pretty crappy T21 -_-

T21 has 3 times the min damage of my Laser though, max damage is about the same... and laser is about half a second faster with a powerup installed in both.

Once I got a good T21 I started chain smoking muon and never looked back. I haven't used the laser since. I'm playing around with the Jawa in PvP against armored opponents, but it's hard to get a really good Jawa.

I just can't handle the wildly varying range of damage on the laser. The great thing about rifleman, especially as you go up the accuracy chain, is you know exactly what is going to happen when you pull the trigger - especially with a T21. The laser is just too unpredictable for me in terms of damage dealt.

I was wondering if you are a Rifleman, what is the best rifle to use for PvP? Which is better for PvE?

Laser seems to be the all around best for PVE, in my experience.

Jawa Ion does stun damage...if you are PVPing against folk without the best possible composite, that could be the way to go.

Not sure how effective the T-21 ultimately is. Someone who has gone further up the rifleman tree than me more recently will need to answer that one.

Unless you're killing meatlumps and gubburs, the dxr-6bis much better than the laser, as the dxr has medium armour piercing and does acid damage. It also has great accuracy and a generally higher minimum damage and attack speed (i.e. higher damage per second).

The T21 will bust a hole in anything with heavy or lower armour that's not 100% resistant to energy damage, the weapon of choice for Krayt/nightsister elderhunts etc.

With comp armour having (on average) 40% resists to stun and psg's (personal shield generators) having about 45+% to stun, the jawa is almost useless in pvp these days.

Better to go for a T21 or dxr. You can ignorepretty much everyother rifle in the game in PvP (unless you know the other guy has crap comp and no PSG).

the big difference comes from the armour piercing. I wouldn't say the laser rifle is the best option ... plus it also depends on how far up the tree you are. As a master rifleman, the speed of the gun makes very little difference with the high riflespeed skill and the 1 attack per second cap.

unsliced laser rifles tend to have damage ranges of 40-400 with AP2

unsliced T21 rifles tend to have damage ranges of 180-400 with AP3

with each level of armour piercing you have above the targets armour, you multiply your damage by 1.25

with each level of armour piercing you have below the targets armour, you multiply your damage by 0.5

factor in rifleman damage bonus on an average shot

Avg Laser Rifle = 220x 1.5 = 330

Avg T21 = 290 x 1.5 = 435

Factor in AP ...against an unarmoured target with the average shot you are looking at ...

Avg Laser Rifle = 330x 1.25x 1.25 = 515

Avg T21 = 435 x 1.25 x 1.25 x 1.25 = 849

against a target with heavy armour you are looking at ...

Avg Laser Rifle = 330x0.5 = 165

Avg T21 = 435

the other main differences are that at low rifleman levels, the laser rifle is much faster between shots and has a lower HAM cost and is potentially capable of doing a higher DPS (damage per second)

delay between shots is calculated on weaponspeed x specialcost x ((100-RifleSpeedSkill)/100)

headshot3 has a 2x speed multiplier and a 3.5x Damage multiplier. Assuming you haven't got the rifle abilities skill boxes and have something like riflespeedskill of 30

Laser Rifle Speed of 4

T21 Speed of 7.7

Time between headshot3s for Laser rifle = 4 x 2 x ((100-30)/100) = 5.6

Time between headshot3s for T21 = 7.7 x 2 ((100-30)/100) = 10.1

with master marksman and master rifleman, your riflespeed skill is 95 (not counting attachments) its possible to hit the speed cap by doing headshot3 on a rifle with speed 10.

With PvP ... you get people with ranged mitigation ... this cuts a percentage off the high end of you damage range.

laser riflesvs no ranged mitigation:40-400

T21 vs no ranged mitigation:180-400

laser riflesvs ranged mitigation 1:40-328

T21 vs ranged mitigation 1:180-356

laser riflesvs ranged mitigation 2:40-256

T21 vs ranged mitigation 2:180-312

laser riflesvs ranged mitigation 3:40-184

T21 vs ranged mitigation 3:180-268

Don't forget that all player armour is light armour + resistances. this means that laser rifle will only get the benefit of one level of armour piercing and a T21 will get the benefit of2 layers of armour piercing.

My advice ... if its for PVP ... get a good speed sliced T21 until you are near master rifleman. If its for PVE ... target your enemy and type /examine this will bring up a window telling you their armour level and resistances and weaknesses. Pick the appropriate tool for the job. If they have heavy armour, most of your rifle options are going to be halved and possibly even quartered on damage.

and one other thing ... the damage in the combat tab is not the true damage ... its raw damage:

Raw Damage: DamageRoll x RiflemanBonus x SpecialBonus

stuff like armour piercing and resistances get factorred into the floaty numbers above a creatures head. Want to know how much you really did ... watch the floating numbers.

hope this helps.

Use a T21 for PVP. A T21 with a dmg powerup, good damage and speed, will do more damage then the Jawa Ion rifle against other players. (because pretty much everyone has stun armor and PSG's).

As for PVE use the Disruptor Rifle it has good speed and dmg, not to mention it does acid dmg.

Well, I would like to thank all of you for your advice. As of right now I am 1/0/1/1 in Rifleman. I have a T-21, I know it has 5.0 speed, and I beleive 150-400 or somewhere around that damage.

I would like to ask one more favor, could anyone tell me the stats for a good Disruptor and a T-21? Just so I know what to buy. Thanks again.
