The pistols all have their different uses man it depends upon what you fight.

FWG5 = Heat Damage

DL44 = Energy Damage AP0

SrCombat = Energy AP1

Dx2 = Acid Damge AP1

There is nothing good untill your pick up pistoleer and get xx2x, the Geonosion Pistol is the best by FAR. But it is not cheap by any means, because they are rare, and do good damage. And most armor players wear is vuln to them.

ROFL. Guess you haven't done much exploring.

Right above the galaxy forums, there are 2 clickies, one says Galaxy Trade, and the other says Professions. Open Professions and select Pistoleer.

For the noobish Marksman, the D18 pistol and DL44 are invaluable. I much preferred the DL44 over the scout blaster, despite it being a little slower.

But now that you're at pistols 4 in Marksman, your two best choices would be the FWG5 (fast and hard hitting), and the SR Combat Pistol. Look for the "featherweight" version of the FWG5, since it's similar in stats and gives you additional skill mods. It also doesn't cost much, if any, more than the base model. It does heat damage (if you select a target and hit the tilde key ~ it will bring up a radial menu on it... select examine and you will see a list of what damage types the target is resistant to, and how much), but like all heat weapons, has no Armor Piercing rating. Therefore, if your examined target has an armor rating of Light, and is not vulnerable to heat (there is a seperate list of damage types the target is vulnerable to, and these are considered armor rating None), the damage you do will be cut in half. Medium armor rating, in half, then in half again, and so on until heavy armor, at which point you may as well just spit at it and run

The SR Combat pistol is an energy damage weapon with light Armor Piercing (the highest you can get for a small firearm). It's a good weapon at this stage in your game to use as an "everyday" weapon, as the armor piercing will additionallymultiply your damage against targets with an armor rating of None. On the more technical side, it's a generally more accurate weapon, if slower than, the Republic Blaster. You'll hit more often with the SR Combat pistol.

Once you achieve Novice Pistoleer (125,000 pistol experience after you train Marksman Pistols 4), you unlock the DX2 pistol, which is one of the very best pistols in the game. They do very good damage, are extremely accurate, and extremely fast. They also have light armor piercing, and have the added benefit of doing Acid damage, which will bypass some secondary defensive layers like Personal Shield Generators in Player vs Player combat, and pierce player-worn armor (meaning you won't lose 50% of your damage before the armor's resist % takes it's cut). You should level the rest of Pistoleer with your DX2, as MOST mobs in the game that you'll be levelling on (especially Quenkers on Dantooine) are vulnerable to Acid damage, or have very poor resistance to it. In fact, you'll find that many of the highest-level mobs in the game are still most vulnerable to acid damage. As a Master Bounty Hunter now primarily playing in PvP (I've done just about all the PvE that interests me for now), the DX2 is my number one pistol. The Scatter Pistol in Novice Bounty Hunter is a much more impressive weapon animation-wise (like a sawed-off shotgun), but stats-wise is not quite as good as the DX2.

Other important pistols you'll need to carry as you advance, for use in the appropriate situations:

Geonosian Sonic Blaster, which is unlocked in the Pistol Tech 2 box of Pistoleer. It's a stun damage weapon of very high damage, and exceptional speed and accuracy. It's one of the current go-to PvP guns for pistol-users because it will eat up a lot ofplayer armor, which is typically vulnerable to it. It is an expensive gun, and not all weaponsmiths can make it, but the price has gone down considerably over the past couple months. Usually around 300,000 credits now as opposed to 1,000,000 or more when it first came out.

DE-10 Pistol, which is a light armor-piercing energy pistol with tremendous damage and accuracy, although a little on the slow side. It's a Master Pistoleer certificate to use it, but it's worth it. Also VERY expensive if you don't loot the schematic and pieces yourself. On my server, around 1,000,000 credits for a "good" non-enhanced gun.

Honorable mentions go to the Tangle Pistol (which is the poor-man's Geonosian Blaster, certified in Marksman), and the Modified Republic Blaster (which is a fast but highly innacurate energy pistol with armor piercing, and causes your target to bleed when you shoot it). Might not be a bad idea to have one of these laying around in your backpack.

Hope that helps!

Striker pistol is kinetic. I carry one of those as well. Not sure if they can be Krayted. The best I've seen was in the 150s or 160s unsliced.
