I also am glad the specials are back, but so are the bugs with them. I would like to see NPC's have to use weapon specific specials. You shouldn't get hit with a rifleman special from a pistol etc...you see them holding a rifle you should be able to use strategy based on what kind of specials a rifle can do, just like in PVP.

Although it is pretty cool to see the nightsisters use lightsaber specials while holding a powerhammer or cleaver

Nice to know that the game can surprise you from time to time.

Isn't it dull to play in God mode all the time?

There is no sting to death in SWG yet there are so many players that get upset if they are overmatched crying for balance and nerfs.

Personnally I find the blacksuns a challenge and I've even fought them unbuffed and survived.

You really have to use your head when you do that because you can't spam specials every second.

Now last night I was buffed and the only one that challenged me was the assassin.

The henchman and the guard I took on together with no problems.

The assassin lives up to his name as I would expect.
He can take a buffed players ham down easily if your not paying attention.

So, there I was using a T-21 andhe was using a T-21 on me. I switched to melee because I had to keep pausing to heal with stims every 10 seconds from the damage he did to me ranged.

Once I went to melee and used intimidate I got the upper hand and was able to knock him down so I could do more damage.

It's not easy using AP1 VK's against a Medium armored NPC.

Later I found another and blasted him using just conceal shot till he died.

Now if I had died instead during any of those battles I certainly would not of been upset about,
So what if I was getting hit by 3k plus shots. I was doing 2k plus damage per second myself.

I wouldn't expect a 33k ham NPC do do any less.

LOL.. I edited it because I noticed I said I would of been upset... Just the opposite I don't let dying upset me.

If you hate it now just wait until combat rebalance...

Agreed -- I've actually gone back to taking on some of the lower end content without buffs or armor. The other day I did the Mauler stronghold. Still pretty easy with area poison, but not as easy if I was buffed and armored -- I actually had to use some strategy.

I for one love the new specials. You'll have to think about what you're doing now, use strategy, really prep for the fight by using appropriate gear, and yes, even engage in human interaction to find a group. Good times all around.

the mob didn't hit for 4.5k after a 70-80% resist. it either hit for 4.5k total, or it hit for 4.5k to a vulnerability.

I have seen a screenie of a tuskan high end MOB hitting for over 10k, with about 5k of that getting past the armor. I can -definately- believe that a blacksun cleared 4500 through armor...

means we need to be in groups, or have a CH friend with a nice pet, or get a decent tank bot and use tactics to fight things.

I am working on rifles right now, and have only just made novice rifleman and one box, so I actually prefer fighting NPCs with their specials to fighting a creature.. reason being most NPCs will stay at range and just shoot at me, where a creature usually runs up and beats on me... and at novice rifles that point blank accuracy sucks..

assasins and blacksuns outside the DWB are not 150k ham heavy armor mobs. the tusken observers and executioners would hit for 1k+ *BEFORE* the patch. yes, now they hit for around 10k with the big specials, but a black sun assasin was not doing that.

Just to toss my hat into the mix here, I want to say that I agree completely that NPCs using specials is a good thing. The game was indeed entirely too easy, and that managed to get everyone running solo all the time. I haven't been in a good SWG hunting group in months, and I regret that. As aformer Everquest player, I recall groups needing both tactics and cooperation to accomplish even the most moderately difficult dungeons or kills. Some NPCs would own you in an instant if not approached with the proper level of planning, and dying in EQ was a real blow--a days worth of exp down the drain and a corpse run to regain dropped equipment. SWG became a game of soloing because it has been possible to go it alone for too long. The only thing that will get people grouping once again is need, plain and simple. The specials on NPCs has greatly increased the difficultly of the game, and I for one am pleased.

Let the grouping begin! And if you play on Valcyn and want a group member, sendRenaldo a tell. I will almost always be willing to join.

Must be nice to have armor...

I cleared a black sun spawn of an assassin, thug, and one other, the assassin and the one I fought had at least 20k ham

I was on my jedi, which is about 1/3 through her template. I actually managed to clear the spawnwithout anyarmor orinnate defenses, I relied on dmg reduction food, and my healing. The funny thing is though that afterward, I looked at my wounds, I had 596 quickness wounds and over 300 constitution wounds.

I've seen some very unbalanced hits recently from Tusken Observers and Snipers. I've watched several friends get one-shotted off their speeders and then triple incapped.

Being in a group doesn't help when the NPC can take you down in one hit.

All the morons saying "You should join a group then if it's too hard" just aren't putting their brains into gear.

If something kills you in one hit, a group isn't going to help! How dumb can you be?

Having a Doc with you doesn't help when the Doc get's one-shotted (happened to us the other night). We even had a Squad Leader using volley and still had group members going down before we could drop the Tuskens. All Elite professions, all Masters and one humongous spawn of Tusken Observers, etc.

The radar had so many red dots on it, it looked like someone had been playing with Texas Chainsaw Massacre in the background.

There is nothing fun about being dropped by something before you can even yell for help. That's not a 'challenge', that's just booooooooring!

Hehehe, which reminds me oflast time I wasat the medic center in bestine. In comes a player screaming "heeeeeelp" as he was chased by a spice fiend, there were like15 new players there with their R2 bots doing novice medic, and a few afk macro tumblers.
