Thread: Krayt Hunting 101

It's a pathing exploit that Krayt's and other NPC's follow you every step, instead of just going strait for you.
Wish they would fix it and the unbreakable roots.
um.... this is not an exploit. There is nothing wrong with leading a krayt or any other object in a circle, it's the exact same thing as leading them in a straight unending line. And the roots/snares were given to ranged professions for a reason. There is absolutely nothing exploitive about these tactics, these are very simple basic tactics that have been in use for a very long time.
Anyone who has ever used a ranged profession knows that the object is to stay out of any melee characters range while continueing to shoot. That's why we are given long range weapons and little defenses.
Now if he told you to run in a zigzag pattern because krayts follow your exact path and slow down on turns, then you could consider something like that as an exploit of the pathing system, but the only thing he's doing is telling you to run in a circle to keep them out of range and use kd/root/snare in order to help keep your distance. That is the exact purpose of those skills, using them is not an exploit. Oh and certain roots are supposed to be unbreakable while others should break on attack, so it just depends on which one he is using. I really wish you people would stop screaming exploit on everything that's posted, use some common sense next time before posting please.

Oh almost forgot about the factional help. There is also nothing wrong with getting the factional stuff to help kill a krayt (or any other random mobs nearby). Once again this is tactics, what was considered an exploit was using player bases and turrets in order to help you tank and kill the krayts, also the same concept with the AT-ST's (which can no longer be used). But using nearby mobs to help is once again a very basic tactic that has been used for a very long time against any MOB that uses area attacks. If SOE didn't want factional NPC's to help then they wouldn't allow the krayt to hit them in order to aggro them. Seeing as you are unable to "tell" or otherwise direct the NPC's it is totally based on using the krayts own area attacks against it. Once again it was designed this way (otherwise area attacks would only hit players and not other nearby mobs) so it is working as intended, not an exploit.

Hey Hostage, I just got master carbines and master pistols with my alt, now I can use my 1050+ carbine, we need to go hunting!! Oh yeah, with the new respec I am going to make my master architect to master AS, we can play with armor now lol!!
BTW, thanks for the post, I thought about the circle and pretty much use it myself all the time on jantas, had no idea it would work with a krayt!!

Ok well to the first poster thank you for some helpful info. To the guy saying that his technique is an exploit all I can say is huh?
Ok my issue....I have taken groups of 8 out 2 nights and all we were ableto kill easily were juvies.
I am a TKM/MD and we had a MBH,Master Riflemanand a few other ranged folks. My experience is that the ancients were jumping around like the orig poster said. The suprised person suddenly realizes they are aggrod and dies before I can get to them....andthe ancient retreats.
Slowly we get picked off this way. I was able to stay alive for the most part on the second night by just healing. But at one point I got attacked with COB on and was hit for 1115, 285, 1185 in about5 seconds. Those numbers look wacked out to me. Don't know if the combat spam is wrong or not.
Anyways I will try the circling tactic and see if it works. A group of 8 people should be able to kill one of these things!!
Great guide, thanks a bundle! ![]()
Unfortunately (for me) I HATE kiting, but I guess it's something I just have to get over... ![]()

VI. Use Storm Trooper and Rebel NPC’s at bases or on patrol to kill the Krayt.
This is illegal. The use of faction pets/npcs against non-factional targets.
This is NOT true on multiple levels.
#1) Factional NPCs are usable on ANY target. Don't believe me? Watch the Stormtroopers or guards NEAR any player city. I watch a patrol of Stormtroopers gun down a hard of Fambaas with NO ONE even close to them.
#2) Illegal implies you can be jailed for the offense. Unlawful means you can be fined or otherwise impeded as a penalty.
So...your post should have said it was unlawful or against the rules...then it would have just been wrong on the content.

I know a better way of doing this anyway. Just takes a Jedi (master defender with a good saber) and someone like myself, a master smuggler/master combat medic. Oh and a level 30 droid. We made short work of the ancient krayt dragon, and even shorter work of the juvies. Its more fun to hunt with a friend anyway, and with a smuggler combat medic they can feign and rez if you die! It works like a charm without exploiting.
If you are on intrepid, please show me how this is done. I will add it to the guide if I like what I see.

Here is how its done.
Jedi and MCM/Master Smuggler state the krayt to all heck. thyroid rupture to slow his attacks, electrolyte sap to drain his speed, the master smuggler snare, bleeds, burns and poisons. And then the jedi tanks while the MCM heals with ranged bacta. reapply states as needed. The MCM will need brandy, booster blue and what ever food you like. Oh also your first thing you need to apply is paralyze, improved shock, then thyroid rupture. Then have the jedi attack and break the root/daze. Its all easy from there.
