Is there any other way for a politician to get XP besides the weekly elections?

sweetie, please don't guess on answers, you've been wrong both times.

the only way to get xp is to acquire votes, and you get 100 xp per vote per city update (around a week). if you're a mayor then all the votes defaults to you, but if you're a challenger you need to acquire active votes, and people need to vote for you again every week since they don't carry over.

You would also have to rerun for mayor because the challenger does not carry over either.

I get ALL the xp? I do not underestand your answer to my question.

So it does not matter how many people vote for me out of all the voters..... I still get all of the votes that the people that voted fore the runner -up? that does not make sense.. why did i get 1300 xp when i got 14 (including my own 13) votes for me and 7 against me. I only got the xp from people that VOTED for me gave.. the way im thinking it panned out.. so could someone. .in complete sentences. .please answer these twoquestions:

Do you ONLY get politician XP from votes that are cast for YOU...

Do I gain ANY politician XP if there is no competitor that week.

You get xp only for thevotes cast for you.

If no one is running against you and you are the incumbent, then the system automatically casts every citizens votes for you and you get all the xp.

can anyone direct me to the information, or tell me, how many different ways a politician can get xp?

i currently have every badge in the game except the politician badge, and i'd like to get that one also and learn more about this profession.

so far i know know this much:

1. you get xp for every vote in a election

(most votes between candidates wins, and all non votes go toward the incumbent)

2. passive xp just for being a mayor

100 XP per vote. You run solo, it'll take you about 14 years. However, lots of people can be swayed to vote for you, if you use proper influence. Make sure the incumbant knows you're just doing this for XP, so you're not viewed as a threat. You might even get his support for votes. I've helped get opponents who were curious get some votes from time to time.

ty for the advice. i am hoping to work with my current mayor to help me out. we have 92 citizens but we have to be careful about how we do it. i'm assuming the worst case senario is i'll be voted mayor, but that could cuz alot of unnessaccary trouble within the city (which i want to avoid)

for some reason, my mayor contends that she is always moving stuff around and constantly changing the city, so if i ended up mayor that would disrupt her work. i think a bit of it just plain bull crap, but i respect her enough to play by her rules. i don't see what she's moving around all the time... but oh well

so let me get this straight... if you go on the ballot.... no one is notified that a new candidate is up for mayor?
