I do understand the point of exploration badges - really, I do. Since they are the easiest badges to get, they persuade new players to get out and see the game, and they let people know that you are an accomplished explorer.
But in the end, they very rarely fill that purpose. For most people, they're just free badges. And they are free; no one can dispute that. I think their abuse in practice outweighs their use in theory. They're outmoded.
Not like the devs will actually listen to me and take them out. Just a suggestion to get people thinking.

I like the exploration badges, I would never have seen alot of really cool stuff without them.

Before a lot of the "content" was added, the POI badges were "content". I went about collecting these on my way up the Ranger ranks.... kinda fit in with my character.
I do agree that there should be an option as to what badges you want to display. Maybe even just the # of explorer badges badge that if you click on it a drop down window will show which POI badges were earned.

I also hate those frickin' exploration badges! a badge should be a effort! FFS all the POI's are listed in the datapad. I know not all of them give badges, but then you just have to check in the ctrl+c tab and see which you dont have. Exploration badges had been cool if we didnt get all served on a silverplate.
Now when they are ingame and there's nothing to do... ATLEAST LET US REMOVE THEM FROM THE EXAMINE WINDOW!! Thank you

I got all the Exploration badges on a whim a month or more ago. It was nice getting out and going to places I realized I'd never ever been (like the crystal fountain). Usually I'd climb off my bike and wander around, too. There's a lot of effort put into little random things in the game a lot of players never see because they're told, "Get buffs, go kill quenkers on Dantooine." I thought it was totally neat when I first found the Dathomir prison, and then that crashed ship elsewhere on the planet. Though I fled like a wuss from whatever was crawling all over the ship.
Idowish there were more Exploration badges like the "has seen the pool at the bottom of Fort Tusken" because there's more work needed than spending an afternoon and biking around planets.

The content in the game isn't just shooting things, they made the worlds farily big with Lots of things to Look at (POIs), you should get out once in a while and LOOK at the game world they created.

i'm sorry but why are the POIs lame? i'm sure that 65 number (btw i've heard 60, 65, 70, 75, and 80 so i think its all bunk) includes those exploration badges, so why don't you just toughen up and spend the day or two to get them all.
and i'd say most of the "experienced" players have them or most of them already.

Your information is incomplete. You should read more of the threads that explain what is required to get entrance to the village. When we first found the /checkforcestatus command on TC our hypothesis (based on the responses people got when they used /check) was that it took 65 badges. This has since been proven to be incorrect. Some people have gotten to 'inner glow' with as few as 21 badges.
Badges common to those people who have achieved 'inner glow' include:
3 exploration badges (to jedi-related locations)
Jabba's themepark
Nym's themepark
a factional themepark
Theed Librarian
a profession mastery
Warren badges
In some instances some of the above badges were replaced by others, such as Corvette badges or COA badges. Oddly enough, the Hero quest badges did not seem to amount to anything significant as many would have hoped.
As you can see from the list it isn't about just driving places and easily picking up a badge, it's about experiencing content in the game as well.
Actually its three profession you got to have master
the min is two basic professions and one advance

I really like the exploration badges. They shouldn't be removed.
