Its worth remembering that this awful event struck some of the most populous, and poorest areas of the world.
Africa, India, Asia...these people died so unnecessarily.
As more of the dead continue to wash ashore...
As they continue with the search efforts...
The prospect of disease that will result and cause even more deaths than have already happened...
This is a tragedy of a magnitude that most people will never understand..
Its heart wrenching to see the devastation and loss these people have endured, and will continue to endure.
The death toll will be well over 100,000...well over, by the time this is over.
For what small measure its worth, my heart and prayers go out to the victims, their friends and families.
In times like these, people have a way of coming together, of rising to the occassion to restore ones faith in people.
Lets hope some small measure of good comes from this horrible tragedy.

From Excalibur:
"Hearts should take care of Earth, or Earth will take care of Hearts."
These deaths are sad but look at what people do every day to our beloved mother. Take care of the planet and the planet will take care of you. Being far from these disasters doesn't mean you can't be a victim later.
Rest in peace brothers. We love you all.

Authorities just arrived at the island of Sumatra in Indonesia only to find total destruction and an estimated 30,000 casualties rasing the total deathcount to 120,000 people so far.
Being a 'family man' myself I cannot even begin toimagine the horrorsthe survivers are going through. Looking for lost family members, kids, husbonds, wives, parents, only to find them dead among the debri.
There is nothing anyone can do to help those who already perished but we can help the survivers, protect them from the secondary and more subtile dangers such askolera, byproviding the help organisations with the means to go and do what they have to do.
What they needthe mostnow isclean water, food and medicine which of course cost money, so please, give whatever you feelis right for you.Even a buck is enough to keep a falily going for a few days or save a kid from dying fromkolera. I know that I myself would be forever greatfull for any and all help I could get if I was in their situation.
You can chosemake a donation to the american redcross at this address :

Or you can chose to make a donation toany organisation you deem best qualified totake care of these peoples needs.

I just saw on the news that the death toll is up to 116,000. HORRIBLE. My thoughts go out to everyone over there and everyone with family and/or friends over there.
