Thread: Tuesday Tips May 24th Stopping Shot
Are you people serious? You want a Jedi to beat 3 MBH/MP's with carbine skills when they get the drop on him from 35m or 50m with arms? Your nuts! Watch a Star Wars movie, read a book, heck use common sense!
You want 1 TKA/Fencer (whatever, the +300 dodge template pre-CU)to kill1 MBH from 60m when they get the drop on him ?
That what was FIXED in the CU. Melee professions without ranged skills should get owned when fighting someone 60m away. DUH.
Jango almost killed Obi 1 on 1! Remember ?!? Star Wars not Karate Wars! No "pikemen" should win from 60m away!
You idiots crying for nerfs ruined this game pre-CU, not again! Jedi are supposed to die when they run around waving light sabers all day! Ever here of the Darwin awards!

Switching between toolbars with the mouse wheel.
You can switch between various toolbars by using the mouse wheel. All you have to do is put your cursor over a toolbar slot (empty or not)and roll your mouse wheel up or down. Each will switch to the next or previous toolbar setup depending on which way you roll the mouse wheel.

people just love to attack each other lol, anway
i have heard that it is possible to perma-root large PvE targets such as krayt dragons making them easily soloable without any danger to the attacker. haven't witness'd this myself but i have heard about it. any chance to give higher level creatures and NPC's some root resistance?

Yes, everyone agrees. Stopping Shot is a great tactic in PvE. It can definitely put a player in a rough spotin PvP. It is also important to consider that the BH/Jediuse of this abilityis part ofa larger situationthanthe use of a single move.

I never do PVP, and I'd hate to see root nerfed into uselessness because some people were abusing it in PVP.
Perhaps give PC's high resistances to Root?
Root is required for PvE: some mobs have such an high CL that it is impossible to kill them, even for a team of CL80 players, unless you keep them rooted OR you have a Master Defender with avoid incap macro (and some other Jedi feedinghim with Force). Because there mobs in game that can one hit kill any player, even AoE kill an 8 members party. If you then consider that most of those mobs have an insane regen rate, it is clear that a tank (even an MDefender) is not always a good option.
Even if you rebalance CL of those mobs, root is still a vital ability to keep the target away from healers/ranged fighters and allow the tank/s to actually have the enemy in range, cause mobs tend to aggro whoever hits harder (usually riflemen)or healers..

You see the problem?
Sure do. We've raised the issue internally. We can'tget instant information regarding a resolution, but we can surely let you know when there is.
This isn't a problem if you add the Padawan/Master relationship you see thru out the actual Movies this game is based on.
1. allow any FRS Knight and above the ability to take one Padawan.
2. His charge is to train the padawan and protect him
Rewards for Padawan
1. Has a Protector against Multiple Bh attacks
2. has a trainer
3. Three can group without Visiblility gain
Rewards for Knight
1. Gets FRS points for successfully Defending Padawan
2. Gets FRS points for Killing BH (BH are any peep with the INV3 line)
Penalty
Knight lose FRS point if Padawan dies.

Shouldn't there be a timer on this to prevent repeat/chain attempts?

Now in a multi-player PvP situation, it is entirely possible for four pistoleers to "chain-root" a single opponent in combat, but hopefully that person brought along friends
This is the case for knockdown (a timer), and that's a state that can at least be recovered from.
Once rooted, we should be immune from +root+ a for a certain amount of time.
There have been discussions about giving the root a chance to break on damage, but nothing definitive yet.
Discussions are not a enough! you have Jedi dieing taking xp loss because of crap unbalanced programming
FYI: I'm full templated so xp loss means jack to me - Unlike you idiots I care about the other players here
If the padawan is careful and secretive, as they should be, then they won't end up on the terminals, and they won't have 5 mean old bounty hunters firing their mean old guns with their mean old root and snare shotsat them.
If the padawan is careless or reckless and reveals their powers in front of another, then they will pay for it by getting a bounty on their head. That's how the system works, this is not new. Every other combat profession that can possibly be paired with Bounty Hunter should not be nerfed becausesome Padawansdon't want to accept that there areconsequencesfor letting others see their powers.
The Master/Apprentice idea is fascinating.
TH -> I suggest you try ideas like this to improve game imbalance instead of using the nerf bat. It seems all people like it. I'm an MBH and would love to see this in game. More Star Wars feel, no nerf, improve a current game imbalance (5 MBHrooting 1 Padawan).
The 5 MBH should still win versus 1 Padawan, heck 1 MBH should from a ranged distance, but if he has a Knight helping him out....How many root cans they throw now? Interesting...nice combat scenario. Not enough roots to go around for a "total" lockdown, the Knight could reek some havoc on them.
The 5 would probably still win, but 3 or4 MBH vs 1 Knight and 1 Paddy.....now were talking....

Roots have a timer that is meant to limit thepacing of root abilities. It is being looked at now.

Thanks for underscoring a very important part of this discussiong BHM - - Stopping Shots and other rooting abilities are very necessary for successful PvE.
So basically what you have pointed out is that Master Defender is useless in PvE and PvP because root is so much better as an option.
BTW, it takes me a few days to grind a Master TKM. It took me half a year to grind Master Defender. What about keeping that in mind, Thunderheart?

We should stop talking Nerfs and look at other ways to improve the game and make it more like what we saw in the movies.
Master/Padawan relationship would do this and help with the issue at hand..

I am so tired of this arguement. You knew going in that it would take half a year. You also knew going in that there would be BH hunting you. And judging by your registration date you even knew there was a perma-death. You made the choice to do jedi anyway and somehow you think that once you get in that door you can suddenly rewrite the rules because you felt you could change them once you got your way all along. As someone already mentioned. This is like me picking up Master Weaponsmith and complaining about how the game sucks because all i can ever do is craft weapons. I can already read your mind as to your reply with the fact that it takes a lot less time to master weaponsmith than jedi. You knew what was at stake before you killed your first baby rancor. To imply that suddenly you achieve padawan and 'whats this? I can be hunted non stop constantly when I dont take care to avoid visibility? I have been misled, lied to I tell you! noone told me this would happen!'.. thats just obsurd. Im willing to listen to an arguement but how long it took you to grind jedi is not one of them. Noone held a gun to your head or told you that your kids would starve if you didnt become a jedi knight. You became a padawan with the full knowlege that the grind was painful and tedious and you chose that anyway with knowlege that you would get to wear robes and do things others cannot and the hope of an instant 'i win' button. Now that the latter is gone, you stil get the prestige. If that isnt enough for you you still have a second account that noone else is able to have to do something else with.

A few of my guildies were able to level Padawan and stay off the terms post CU. You just have to be smart and have smart friends...there's a reason there is a 35m "visibility barrier" use it. People need to think of ways to level instead of complaining.
Hey TH, here's a TIP. Create a rant forum and find some new moderators.
How about creating an online play guide and actually keep it updated? New users shouldn't have to learn to play the game by way of these craptastic forums.
