Yes but, please remember that it is 99.9999% sure that you will not be able to walk around in a moving ship, due to lag and technical issues. Although a ship in hypserspace or at full stop can probably serve as a house... But i think that hyperspace will probably be just a loading screen...

If we cant walk around in our personal ships that would suck royally. At least we'll get good camera views of our ships from the outside using the mouse scroll.

If anyone thinks ships such as the Kuat Drive Yards Firepsray class Patrol craft will be available, you're wrong. Slave I is the only existing version of it. Unless I missed something in the EU.



Anyways.......


I'm not gonna be expecting X-Wings to be just freely available. Probably available to Rebels, and only Rebels. Same with the other Rebel ships. Same with Imperial ships. ANd they could be purchased with faction points.



All I want is a T-16 Skyhopper and I'm set baby

Well such ships as X-wings, Tie fighters, etc, will be only availaible as faction perks, or maybe the schematics will have to be purchased by the crafters, and only the corresponding faction's members can trade the deeds and/or fly them... The schematics would probably have a limited use, for instance a 5 use schematic of an X-wing will cost 5000 faction points. Crafters can buy the FP from smugglers or regular players, or they can have it in the price, for instance:


"Master ship crafter selling X-wing for 200K+1K Rebel FP, PST"


Keeping true to SWG's stand on the GCW, there will be neutral ships that anyone can buy, trade and fly.


As for capital ships, i'm more and more thinking that they will be patched in at a later time, kind of like vehicles or mounts. I think they'll act as a faction base in space, and will be move-able every X days only...

About fighters. As much as it will piss people off,I don't thinkplayers will be able to build X-wings and Tie fighters. We will probably only be able to build and use fighters commonto both sideslike the Z-95 Headhunters (used commonly for planetary defense),any of the fighters seen in the first three episodes, and maybe Y-wings (which were already outdated by SW:ANH). X-wings,Tie fighters and the likewill probably only be seen/used in battlezones (like the battlefields on planets). These will probably be accessed through a terminal aboard a Star Destoryer/Rebel Cruiser (which will act like bases for each faction). These "elite" fighters will probably only be able to beused by "Master Pilots" (see my last post). "Lower" class pilots will have to stick with the headhunters or Y-Wings.


Aboutspace. Since this will be a full space expansion, I would expect to see a large galaxy that's broken up into different sectorscontainingthe planetsthat are in use now (i.e. Correllia, Endor, Yavin). Each sector would have multiple places to go (i.e. moon bases, space stations, and theafore mentioned planets). Like the planets, each sector would have multiple battlezones (with sattleites to warn everybody entering). Like i said earlier, oneach side of the battlefield there would be a Star Destroyer or Rebel Cruiser to dock your ship, use cloning facility aboard, get supplies and/or get fighters to fight in the battlezone. The rest of the sector would be filled up with misc. things (i.e. asteroids, moons, space junk). Most interesting of all would be the random encounters you would have in space that would work like the creatures on planets (i.e. space pirates, hostile aliens, giant space slugs). Sounds like fun.


Once again, this is all speculation....or maybe just a wish...

if it's like xwing vs tie fighther it would be awesome, i was a part of the ranks and for doing special missions you would get little combat ribbons to put on your uniform that would be cool. I really doubt there would be some kinda garage for the ships, as much as i would love to park my fighter outside of my faction base in our player city I don't know if this is possible.

We (non-developers)are all pretty much in the dark on space expansion except for a brief celebration clip and a few interviews here and there not touching on much. We do know that we willhave the opportunity to own personal starships. In what shape or manner? We willhave to wait a few more months to get a little bit of the skinny I guess.


I'll comment again as I said earlier I hope we will be able to walk around in the ship, however I will not be surprised if it doesn't happen. If we can't walk around in our ship at least give us a little bridge wiggle room where we can look around the bridge and have a nice big window view of outerspace. THE BRIDGE COMPONENTS SHOULD BEVIEWABLE. PLEASE DO NOT GIVE US A COCKPIT BOX ONLY VIEW.We should be able to see our characters in the ship or at least have a smallview of the bridge components to create the feel of being in astarship. A good bridge or cockpit view would be something similar to the movie Alien. Im talking about the very first film not the others in the series. The bridge was somewhat restrictedin Alienbut there was still something there to make it seem like you were really piloting/navigating a space vessel.


I also hope when your ship gets hit- the effects will be heard and seen..screen shaking etc..


Being able to take on passengers I think will be a given if you have a medium transport kind of vehicle.


I also really hope SOE goes all out on outer spaceby giving us the nebulaes and other cool stuff associated with outer space. Lets hope we can land in places in outer space as well as planet side. By planetside I hope it will not be regulated to Star Ports. Would be cool to land in an open field and get a static view of our ships.

I'd like to point out that, with most "signature" ships, such as X-wings, Tie-fighters, etc, you see it in the movies, there's only room for one person. Only the bigger ships, such as Episode 1's ship, the one amidala uses to land on tatooine, can hold more people and have a real "bridge" ...


I wouldn't be to "pissed off" if i could only naviguate in 3rd person view (over my ship) or in 1st person view (seeing like the pilot's eyes...), i think it wouldn't be that great to naviguate from a view inside your bridge area, it wouldn't be practical...

Shug_Ninx in the Celed video, around 22 minutes:

"Combat in the space expansion can be controlled only with a mouse. It's basically point and shoot..."


So it's going to be twitchy, no doubt about it. You can also see in the celeb video that you can stay in 1st person mode, where you see a bit of your cockpit, the radar at the bottom, and a "power" bar on the side (porbably your shields). If you switch to 3r person cam you can have chase cam or not, Q at some point turns the camera to face the cockpit and look "backwards" to see whats hapening behind him...


I'm gonna watch the parts in space once or twice againin that video, see if i can catch anything more then that.

Also, that ISD is HUUUGE

Well yes of course if you are flying a Tie or X Wing its a small cockpit designed for one with very little wiggle. Its a given that cockpit view will be limited for those ships. There should still be a decent inside view for the single fighter ships. My comments were definitely geared toward the medium to large sized ships. If we had a yes or no on a walkable ship interior we could focus on other things. My comments about being able to have a nice bridge view and not just a cockpit box is under the assumption that players will not be able walk around in their ships.


If you get a chance to see Alien the movie -the veryfirst Alien you'll see what Im talking about when it comes to cockpit view, bridge etc ..for a medium sized ship....

i love these ideas that everyone has. this is what i want to see come out of se.


1. Being able to walk in your ship while tou travel


2. Guild stations in space


3. Guild ships


4. New planets like Hoth and race planets


5. New vehicles like pod racers


6. Being able to paint your house


7. Customize your ship in every aspect like paint and interior.


8. Being able to put weapons on your vehicles.


9. being able to land anywhere (except in cities) on any planet, and make some new planets where you can only access it by your ship.


10. new races and professions like jawa, gungans for races and pilot for the new profession


11. and most important since the new profession that everyone wants 50 MORE SKILL POINTS
