I guess its just me but when I first startedI was doing ok, I had alot of money for some reason and was doing the jobs asked of me from my droid. Now that the droid dosent help AT ALL I cant find anything to do, I have no money because, stupid me I spent it all on a vibro axe thats way way way betteer them my wodden pole so I though it would help me fight, WRONG, why, I have no idea, I have 2nd level two handed weapons skill but I still suck at it, I have have 2nd level polearm, so I sold my wooden pole for a way better metal pole that DOES NO BETTER DAMAGE AT ALL, or so it seems, wth is this all about? As a matter of fact I cant even do the easiest missions, like destroying a friggin womp rat lair because unless I do a beserker, the friggin rats, or whatever the creature is, kicks my ass.

The random mission are too hard, I cant find them eiter, the directions to find them are henious. ( I dont want to have to run for like 20 minutes to get to each mission, if I manage to find it and then just die ) where the hell is north south east and west and why is there no way to figure out how close, etc they are from my location? It took me FOREVER to find one that had a waypoint and so the ones with NO waypoint I cant find at all.

I have no money so I can't train fighting in anything to get better.

I guess I have no idea how the skills/points/upgrade/GET BETTER AT STUFF system works. What am I supopsed to do? kick it at mos eisley for like 6 days killing lesser womp rats until my skill goes up? Would that help? It gives me no money, I don't know if it upgrades my fighint capability after awhile or what, in other words I'm friggin stuck.

I cant seem to ever sell anything with those damn vendor things. I have alot of crap I found or bought because its got bette rstats but dosen't help me at all, where can I unload this crap? I tried to sell things, no one buys them, dirt cheap btw.

I can see why this game has such a fast player turnaround rate, I'm trying to stick to it and play, but I have at least 10 hours under my belt and I still cant do the easiest things. I see people kill things in like 1 hit or 3 shots and it takes me 10x that long. I'm not sure how much more time I'm willing to invest unless I can see even an inkling of something positive or some kind of progression or something.

I'm getting frustrated beyond belief.

I need some help/advice or some explanations please.

Thx.

Ah this post is precious. I can remember feeling the "what the hell do I do here!?"...

What you need is a guide, or someone to show you the ropes. The game really isn't hard, just time consuming.

Run simple missions to level up (Coronet works, there are mission terms right at the starport) whatever combat profession you are pursuing. This will give you experience and a little money. As you increase your skill, up your weapons... Rinse and repeat. Get a landspeeder or bike. That will make running the missionsa snap.Once you get to a certain level (where you can take on anything outside Coronet), you can move on to more advanced mobs on more advanced planets.

Just about all loot you will get during early leveling is worthless (unless it's a color crystal or the like)

What I would really recommend is that you go to coronet and try to find someone that will spend 20 minutes helping you figure stuff out...

Good luck.

Yea. I will have to agree. You just need to try and find someone that will help you out a little bit, but in case you don't just kill whatever you can as much as you can because until you master a profession, it is going to be kinda to hard to make big money. The game really isn't that hard to figure out, you just need someone to help you figure things out.

First off you need to choose a profession you want to learn. Maybe two at the same time, like Medic and Swordsman, then get a weapon that you are CERTIFIED to use, very important. If your uncertified, its pointless. Then beg for money from people. People usually can spare about 5k if your new and after a couple people pitch in you should have enough money for things such as shuttle ports and buffs.

Then after you get this all established, Equip your best weapon, get buffed, drink some Vasarian Brandy, and maybe put some cheapo bone armor on if you can find some for real cheap. Go out on Tatooine and start pounding on womp rats, and lizards, using special attack after special attack constantly. If you have a nice full set of Comp armor on (if someone gave it to you or whatever) then head over to Dantooine instead and attack basic Quenkers. Continue this until you reach novice of whatever profession you want, seems like you're going for Swordsman. After you get Novice Swordsman, pick up a Power Hammer, they do blast damage which is a rare defense type for creatures which means high damage.

I recomend saving up for a nice set of armor. When your strong enough, try doing Jabba's Palace.

It may also be good for you too seek out players with the (Helper) tag below their names. They tend to be more open to helping new players.

What server are you on? I'm on Radiant, and would be willing to help in whatever way I can. I don't wear the "Helper" tag, because too many players were wanting me to give them things, and if I didn't have them, I'd get nasty /tells.

^ Yeap, that is always a problem. Sometimes you even try to tip them like 20k just to get them off your back and it still isn't enough!

as far as knowing how far missions are from you, in the options menu (ctrl+o), you can activate an onscreen waypoint monitor that displays distance. this is the only answer i can give you

10 hours is not a lot in MMOG terms. I remember gubbars (Corelian equivalent of wortts) kicking my butt the first week or so. The majority of "casual" veterans probably have more than 1000 hours under their belt. It's not supposed to be easy (though is much easier now than at release), but that is what gives you a sense of accomplishment when you master your first elite profession (took me 6 months, will take you much less I'm sure) or conquer your first Tuskan. Keep at it and things will get easier, but it takes a lot of hard work (which might include some fun if you let yourself.) This is a perfect time to group with other new players and experience the newness and learn together. Don't be afraid to ask questions to others as there are many subtle ins and outs and most will be glad to help.

You think its hard at the start because your new and you have no clue what to do. But once you play it alot you start to realize that its not that hard. Anyways i been playing since sept or oct last year and i thought it was hard but after like 2 days i realized it was pretty easy to understand.

Just some things to help you not being TOO disoriented:

For a planetary map: Ctrl-V (you're the yellow moving "anchor")

For the overlay map: Ctrl-M

If you look in the lower left corner of your screen, you see the radar. North is where the triangle points, just like on a compass.

The reason it's hard is because there is absolutely no documentation that's worth reading. A difficulty level attached to a mission means SFA without a baseline. The item descriptions are lacking. There's clothes only wookies can wear, but nope, they're not in the clothing section called "wookie clothes".

The only way to really learn is trial and (expensive) error. And hope that any player helping isn't really sending you up the river. I heard stories about tards who'd wear the helper tag, and advise nobs to go Dantooine for fast easy XP, then laugh.

The turnaround rate is high because the game is too easy - people suffering from attention deficit disorder syndrom get bored quickly and go back to doom3 or whatever.

Anyway, I agree that in the beginning the game may seem overhelming. If you're on farstar send me a tell and i'll give you a few good weapons and some directions (both free)
