I started the captain's patrol quests, but a little later i decided dont want to do combat prowess yet, but rather crafting. is there anyway to cancel current quest and change to quharek's quest?

Same problem I had, so I contacted a CSR and they told me to wait until the phase started again.

I guess that warning they give you if you actually read the text that says "once you start this you cannot take another quest from someone else" or whatever just wasnt enough for ya....

Give the guy a break. It was very confusing at the village when you first entered. And none of the guides I read stated this anywhere - at least not explicitly. With every other NPC quest in this game you have the option to go back to the NPC and say something like "I cannot do this anymore" and thereby cancelling the quest.
But all warnings aside, what point is there to not being able to cancel a quest? I can see a point about not being able to cancel it if you already got some of the reward. But before you even begin doing the quest, it ought to be possible to cancel it.

I spent a day and a half just sitting in the place reading the boards and finding out how everything worked before I finally clicked anything, and of course now I realize that the path I want to take will consume a year or so.....but that's another story.

That only tells me I can't take another quest while doing his quest. It does not tell me that I cannot stop and change, nor does it tell me I cannot do another quest this phase. Infact, if I took that literally, it would mean that once I take his quest, I can take no other anymore and that my quest for Jedi would be over. Good enough for you? You're welcome.

I'm not sure what quest that is but when I played on TC2 I failedone of myquests because after 30-60 minutes it said "You failed to complete this quest in a timely manner."

That's a pretty small warning to waste 3 weeks of your time. To the poster : you can't quit so just do them anyway, get the banner and don't do anything with the unlocked quest. That way you don't waste FS skillpoints on it.

I checked my logs... and what it actually says is "Good, before we get started I should let you know that you will be too busy to help out any of the other villagers....."
We're suppose to know that this means you can't do anything at all until the next phase? Ridiculous. There should be a warning CLEARLY stating that it's like that. Given my prior experiences with the game I believed this to mean that I would not be able to undertake a mission for anyone else in the village until I completed that first initial quest. It wasn't until after I completed this quest and went to undertake another that I was told by someone who reads these forums regularly that he was aware you could only do one quest per phase. As you can see this is my first post on the forums and I'm not an avid reader as I don't have the time (between reading and playing I'd rather play), I think it's unfair that people in the forums were forewarned and the rest of us were not. This on top of the fact that I wasted my one chance doing the crafting quest is really annoying. (I'm a Master Architect so I'm not even going to attempt it at this stage on Architect with an absurd ratio of 1:35 compared to the lucky medics who get 1:5 on crafting, this combined with the amount of resources I would have to waiste to grind this is absurd)
So if you haven't done your quest yet please choose carefully and best of luck!
