It's a nice guide. LOL they should make people that fill out bug reports like that one at the end, read this guide, before they're allowed to submit any more /bugs.
I bet QA gets a lot of the "OMG FIX IT NOW SOE!!1111!!111!" type reports.

A very reasonable, well-balanced article. Devs are people too!
Even when I was frustrated with a bug, (Village Phase 2 Reflex Quest) I never vented my frustrations in the bug report or to a CSR, figuring they'd be getting thousands of equally annoyed messages. (I found that /slap-ping Whip several times proved to be quite theraputic.
)
It would be nice, however, to have a list of the different categories a bug report could be filed under, with a deeper explanation of each one. i.e. "Interplanetary Travel"? Does that mean shuttling, or JtL-enabled Space flight?

Awesome guide! I think I'm going to print up a copy for my production crew to read for when they find bugs inour in-houseproduction software. There's nothing more annoying to a programmer than getting an email that says, in its entirity, "I got an error today."
Well, except for the slighty more verbose, "ERROR - JOB ON HOLD! I got an error today. The job is on hold until it is fixed." This, of course,is usually cc'd to the owner of the company....

great guide, I think the bug report tool in game should be altered to match his template format.

Wow, can I borrow that for my company's clients?
We get lots of "this is broken". Occasionally they attach a screen-shot of the error, or a log file from the app server. Usually the screen-shot is useless, the log file has no relevent data, and we have to go back and forth 4 or 5 times before we get anything resembling the information we need to troubleshoot the error.

A good guide and well-written.
I spend some of my time reading the Tech Support Forum andonly a fewposts there are on-topic and detailed. Most posts are either off-topic, rants,extremely vague or practicly unreadable. TSR-Chad has written an extensive guide that isavailable as a floating (aka sticky) thread on the Tech Support Forum but the sad thing is that almost nobody seems to read it.
I sure hope that Jimerlin's guide doesn't get ignored too. Good and detailed reports about bugs (or tech issues) help a lot in finding and fixing those problems. And that's something we all benefit from.

What the game really needs is a bug answering guide for the CSRs.

Yes, well- the CSRs are supposed to help with issues, and can't fix bugs. Whether or not there's problems with the CSR system, bug reports != CSR tickets.

The best part of that guide is the cut and paste template because SOE's form pull downs are really just annoying and useless.
That template provides "better blanks for us to fill in"
Nice Job
