Thread: The chase for FSCS Dev response wanted

So, any possibility at all that a Dev, CSR, or other SOE Employee would answer the following question:


Is there a pattern to whata character'sholocrons tellthem to do, andthefinal"step" needed to open the FSCS?


Not looking for anything more than a "Yes", "No", or "You wish we would answer that, don't you?"


Definately not looking for more hints, just wondering if I should finally give up my hope of one day finding such a pattern. I'm growing tired of the endless debate of "is there a pattern" or "isn't there a pattern", and folks just bashing one side or the other without many adding logical thoughts (don't get me wrong, there is some logical discussion, but nothing like I'd expect to see). Until I hear an official response though, I'm convinced you guys gave us hints, and that the hint wasn't just "master professions". So, how about it?

I doubt there is a pattern. Much for simple for the devs to put in a nice random script then make up some complicated algorithm for this. Completely random

Aye, it is. It's alsojust as easy to have that script pull up a random pattern from a static table of patterns, in order to give us the hint that holocrons were intended for. I mean, "master 5 professions with us telling you up to 4 of them" isn't really that much better than "Master a single profession". Sure, statistically it is, as you have 4 of 32 out of the way. But logically, it doesn't make sense to me .


Thank you for being constructive in your comment, and not flaming. I definately see both sides of the picture, but my personal belief that the Devs were being "nice" to help us a long leads me to logically conclude that the holocrons are supposed to take us along our path. In this case, path = pattern to me.

Figure out the numeretical sequence of the proffessions.


Then find the key.


A birth date...


A credit card number.


The date.

At this point, I'm more interested in just knowing if there's something logical to look for or not. We may be years finding "the answer" (or "the answers"). I just want to know if it's worth continuing to try seeking.

You know, the one Jedi i've ever talked to said that she was bored and it wasn't all it is cracked up to be, but that's beside the point. Here's the advice that this same Jedi gave me on getting the FSCS. "Play the game, don't get into the holocron grind as the be all end all, make sure you go visit some sites and do a couple of themeparks, and don't forget to visit little known towns like Mos Taike and see what the local NPC's need done."



Don't get me wrong, I'm sure she did some major grinding profession wise, butit looks like she took some time to smell the roses too.


I would love to see how the devs coded the FSCS though, it wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't as random as it seems to be though, and was just so simple that no one thought about it.

A total of 10k people playing across all the servers during prime time on the weekend? 791 people on the most populous, 133 on the least? That makes the NGE a success right?

Hammerfry, that's your opinion, and you could be right. My opinion is that there is some logic behind the "random" professions. I've detailed several times on the Jedi forum how it could be both.

I'm definately having fun with the "grind". I've done some professions I wouldn't have done before thanks to the holo, and found I liked them . Fencer was cool, and now I'm doing BE, which has it's good points as well.

I'll have to be honest here. I wasn't even thinking of being a Jedi when I bought the game. Also to be honest I didn't even know that it was comming out until November of 2002 when I heard it was comming out for the Xbox. I later learned that it was scrapped for the consoles (or at best put on the back burner). I simply played the game to play and at this moment I have 6 holo's (I think, I'm not in the game right now). I honestly don't plan on opening any of them. Some I will sell, others I will give away. I might, just might open one to see what it says. But the holo grinding thing to me just seems silly. I don't want to take away anything from the people doing it. But what is the sense of paying a monthly fee for the game and your not *really* doing what you want. I mean I know that most want to open their fscs, and holo grinding is the way to open that slot. But sitting around grinding something that a box told you to do just seems a bit silly. I also think that it has taken a lot away from the game. At the moment I'm a master doc. I go to the med center to do my job for a while and I see people come in with wounds. The other dozen or so medics that are holo grinding away are to busy grinding and healing the person tumbling to standing to help the person that was out fighting. There are also lots of rants about the afk dancers. And I have to agree. I remember some well put together groups that used to be in the cantina. One such group that I remember is some guys that called themselves "The Stooges" on the bloodfin server. I thought it was very clever and I tipped well when I saw them performing. Now the cantinas are full and standing room only but they are all afk dancers.


I think the dev's made a huge mistake with the way the slot is opened and the quality of the game has dropped somewhat since the first mention of holo's were first mentioned. Honestly it was like the gold rush with everyone heading over to Dantoonie to find force sensitive people and camp the crystal cave. Then the campers started selling holo's for prices like I've never seen before in a game both for credits and for real money on Ebay. Now with the holo give-away tons of people are ditching professions to listen to the little cube. I just wonder how long this will go on. Also every needs to know that everyone cannot be Jedi.

I think it's fun to get a holo....it kind of makes you attempt skills you would normally decided not to do, and sometimes you end up enjoying them. I think the best thing the devs did about this is to give everyone a holo for x-mas though It totally screwed up the selling value of them for a while so average people can afford them and also gave people enough incentive to at least try one and see what it said instead of being afraid to destroy it because you may never see another one. I found that mine told me to master commando, which I was working on anyway so it was nice, I'm just excited to see what my next one will be

Yep, I believe there are some good points and some bad points to the holo gambit. I did enjoy Fencer, but I hated Combat Medic . Bio-Engineer was something I thought about doing, and I'm kinda having fun with it. I expect it will be better as I get further along, but the initial go makes me glad I didn't do it on my own.


Still no SOE response .

Ever do any basic programing.... I mean the old basic you used to get with DOS 3.0 and such....


Every randomizer has a pattern, think back to the date and time you created your character, that is the easiest base for a randomizer, and the one least likely to be duplicated multiple times. Old basic randomizer would randomize the same exact number if run at the same second of the next day, later they adjusted to TDS (Time Date Stamp) rather then just a time stamp for the randomization.



Oh, and good luck figuring out the pattern, each TDS gives a different pattern, so even one tenth of a second could change the entire set, or you could end up with exactly the same as someone with a TDS that has no relation to yours, simply due to limited options in the answer.
