There in lies the delema.
Until they change mind from being the only ham that cannot be healed by everyone and only a few profession able to hit it regular it will be the deciding factor in most combat.
As it is now pump all the stats you have into mind and get buffed.

There's something wrong that you can't do anything unbuffed (well except crafting I guess - but armoursmith is not known for its leetness in pvp)
I agree, for a human, put everything into mind.

I'm a master rifleman and Swordsman 0001, HAM wise I have ...
900/450/450
700/450/450
700/650/650
My usual hunting foods are...
1 x BE Brandy (+383 to all Mind stats for 40 mins) - Drink
1 x BE Accargm (+380 to all Action stats for 40 mins) - Drink
1 x BE Ahrisa (+400 toMind - Focusfor 40 mins) - Food
1 x Won Won (+200 to Health Secondaries for a short period) - Food
1 x BE SynthSteak (+40% Damage reduction for 32 hits or 1 hour) Food
This enables me to huntstuff without buffs while wearing ubese jacket, boots, helmet and gloves. I'm talking about hunting 10k missions which can get red bad guys in it. i have Novice Medic and when things get tough, I do one heal every 3 specials with a stimpack B rated at 415 dmg heal.
If I want to fight really hard stuff such as 36k missions which are supposedly aimed at groups rather than solo people or if I want to do the Geo caves or Corvette or any other stupidly insane dungeon, I get buffed and use 2 BE Ahrisa and 2 BE Brandy and wear full composite armour with high resists. I also make sure I space out my Ahrisa and Brandy ... I pop one shot of each, then ten minutes later pop a second shot of each one. That way you don't end up deep in the crap by having all your mind dissappear in one lump.
I've also stopped using my 500 max damage T21 and now use a 440 max damage T21 with Low HAM of 39/33/71
PvP wise, having everything bumped into mind may help due to CM poisons and rifleman.
The thing about buffs and comp armour and max mind being needed to fight stuff in the game is because alarge numberof people want to be able to solo absolutely everything in the game ... well thats not how the game is intended to be played ... its a multiplayer game ... if it was a single player game there would be no point in it being online. If something is hard, you're supposed to team up with friends to defeat it.
If they bring in the new HAM system, hopefully mind will be healable with normal stims. Failing that, get your CM friend to use mind heals for once.

theres the problem with this game
there is no longer such thing as
Not buffed combat
its ur buffed or ur bombed
only thing i have seen alive in battle, unbuffed are
Combat medics
Jedi
so forget about it, just slam ur mind stats up, then throw the rest in to ur action nad health so u have higher stats
ur health and action secondaries are useless, always be buffed!

I've always played with
1000
400
400
1000
400
400
1000
400
400
400
400
1000
400
400
1000
400
400
It's always worked for me, and I can actually use most of my specials unbuffed. The carbines can be tricky without a buff, but I can do it. Worst-case scenario, I can get away from something before it kills me. If you have everything migrated to your mind, you're way too vulnerable in your health and action if you're not spending half your gameplay time standing in the buff line.

I wouldn't say you require buffs for everything, only when taking on things above your combat ability, which might be a lot for some of the broken "elite" combat professions.
As a Zabrak, I max out all my secondaries, and even then can't wear more than a few pieces of sliced high resist composite WHILE BUFFED.
BTW, I heard and wondering if it was true, about the human species being bugged and having available higher than designed secondary stats. Is it true????

humans can bring their stats (primaries and secondaries) up to 1100 thats right...but its no bug but part of the (weird) game design
