Thread: What's the rank structure???
What is the rank structure in SWG for the imperials specifically but, I assume the Rebels are similar... So far I've passed...
Private
Lance Corporal
Corporal
Sergeant
Staff Sergeant
Staff Corporal
Warrant Officer II
At what point do you ever hit comissioned ranks and how far off am I?
these ranks areUSMC specific. some of them were either skipped, misplaced, or flat not included.
their proper order should be:
Private
Pirvate First Class
Lance Corporal
Corporal
Sergeant
Staff Sergeant
Gunnery Sergeant
Master Sergeant/First Sergeant
Master Gunnery Sergeant/Sergeant Major
Warrant officer
Chief Warrant Officer 2
Chief Warrant Officer 3
Chief Warrant Officer 4
2nd Lt
1st Lt
Captain
Major
Lt Colonel
Colonel
Brigader General
Major General
Lt General
General
*sigh*
These ranks are directly transcribes from TFN's Technical Commentaries, which bases its data on WEG's Imperial Sourcebook. The Sourcebook had no primary source for its ranks, and simply made stuff up and gave them an order and inserted various ranks from several different systems.
There is no PROPER rank order. The Imperial Army uses its own rank scheme, and it is not obligated to follow the Marine Corps. nor any other system of rank.
the imperial ranks are taken directly from US military ranks.so theres your single system, that doesnt exist, from which these ranks were taken. so take your sarcastic *sigh* eat some jello.
Oh? And do you have a single bloody piece of evidence to corroborate your claims, or are you just going to sit there and say that it is so because "you said so". I'm sorry, sonny, but the world doesn't work that way.
Either provide a source, or go sit down.
Oh, and do kindly point out to me where in the United States Marine Corps, in its entire history, one might find a Marshal. Really, go look. If you can't find one, then your argument goes right down the porcelain peehole.
Well, I think you are forgetting one important thing...the Imperial Empire was around "a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, faraway" Obviously, there are remenents of the humans from that culture who have survived over to ours. Therefore, our miltary ranks would be based off of them...not the other way around.
This is only true of course, if we are following along with the story line...and if you are playing this game, you are suppose to be.

To the first: There's no connection, though. The Imperial Sourcebook, which CREATED those ranks, never referenced any specific military to use its ranks. It simply amalgated a few of them from numerous sources. Take a look at the source, and don't just use what looks similar.
To the second: Nope. SW and "earth" have no connection. It's in a galaxy FAR FAR away, and those in that galaxy cannot travel outside of it.
According to the SWG Guide the Ranking System goes as follows:
Imperial Ranks:
1.Private 2. Corporal 3. Lance Corporal 4. Sergeant 5. Staff Corporal 6. Staff Sergeant 7. MAster Sergeant 8. Warrant Officer II 9. Sergeant MAjor 10. Warrant Officer I 11. First Lieutenant 12. Second Lieutenant 13. Army CAptain 14. MAjor 15. Lieutenant Colonel 16. Colonel 17. High Colonel 18. Brigadier General 19. MAjor General 20. Lieutenant General 21. General 22. High General 23. Surface Marshall
Rebel Ranks:
Are all identical accept that they have one less rank than the Imperial Faction...that being High Colonel
Hope this was helpful
You're getting close to the big 'butter bar' of the first commisoned officers, second lieutenant.
After Warrant Officer:
Master Sergeant
Warrant Officer I
Second Lieutenant
After that I can't be for sure since I'm only a Warrant Officer I and they already screwed up enlisted/NCO/WO ranks lol.(For those of us in the real life military they are anyways..I mean staff corporal after sergeants...**edit**? And a warrant officer outranks any NCO.) If it follows the Imperial/real life military (American for you Euro's out there who use different ranking conventions) these should be the next:
First Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel, High Colonel(Imperial only), Brigadier General, Major General,Lieutenant General, General, High General(Imperial only), and Surface Marshall.
Again those last ones are just a guess until we see for ourselves.
Marshal has one 'l', for one.
Secondly, the United States has never used the position of marshal. The term Surface Marshal is an adaptation of the rank of Field Marshal, first used by the British and then used by the rest of Europe afterwards until the 1960s. No military currently has any Field Marshals. The United States uses the rank of General of the Army (none of which are currently serving in the military) as its replacement of Field Marshal.
