Thread: A solution to kill stealers....

Make it so that only the person who first engages the enemy can attack or anyone else in the group can.


for instance, If im ina group with my friend and i engage in battle with an npc or creature, me and him/her can attack the creatre only.


there are acceptions so that there will be a command or sumthin that u can type or do thatll make it so anyone can attack the NPC or creature.


This cannot be used in pvp.


This is used in EQ2.

nice ideas but the real trick would just be to make instanced dungeons or something. Almost all the dungeons are somewhat soloable as is, with the exception of possibly the death watch bunker, everything else like the geo cave, corvette, nightsister stronghold, tusken bunker, etc etc are all soloable but should still be instanced, Maybe once you kill the boss in the cave you get ejected and can only enter for 1 hour, once you get bootted, you need to wait 20 minutes or something, i dont know.. Maybe something like how vendor fees applied to houses work, you get to enter the cave for an hour and get booted out after time expires.

yea but when im out there hunting krayts, ill runto into a couple people who take kills. if something isnt done than this game is gonna turn into heck.


no longer will it be what template u are, itll be how many u got and how fast u can kill an NPC or high level creature

heres the story, i was out soloing krayts and then a big squad consisting of 2 rifleman and 1 tkm come by and steal the next 3 krayts i fought

Unfortuntatly, you are out of luck. The only way you will beat this group is to have more high damage people in your group. If you have any Jedi friends, go with them. You can tank for them while they do massive amounts of damage. Since you are a swordsman, you too can do some major damage with a good Powerhammer. It's said but, in the online game world there are people who do not have respect for anyone else. Unless you solo krayts late at night bring a group or be outdamaged.

Better change template to rifleman, this bds can easy steal kill from all templates...

yea im a tank for jedis now.


but still, the locked targets thing would work and make ALOT less grief in this game.

If you can't stop a kill thief with a different template then you, and you want to kill the high creatures, maybe it is time to change templates?

A better solution would be to make all the dungeons unsolable. You get in a good group beforehand, decide who does the looting and that solves all the problems. Espescially with the new looting system you can try on TC.

just 2 reasons not to do this (it has been much discussed since launch)

i could go around and one shot things just to lock everyone else out.
it would prevent anyone from helping you if you are losing the fight
soe's position is 'no one owns spawns, highest damage dealer earns the loot'


im sure if you search for the topic, you can find many more reasons why they won't do it.

No, its not really a good point at all. I don't blame people for wanting better weapons or loot, but the highest damage should not win...they should have an easier time killing things but NOT ruin the game for those that don't have such and such a template or the best (and oftentimes prenerf illegal) weapons. A couple ways to fix this easily are, like the first poster says, whoever first damages the mob gets loot (he and his group). If this person/group dies or peaces out or leaves zone or whatever, then someone else can come along. Thats all...why is it so hard to grasp and why are people fighting this idea so much?

Hey Omae,

Here's a scnerio...

I'm a crafter, and I take my newb CDEF pistol and go find some Krayts.


I find one...


I fire once and I /peace, hop on my swoop till it un-agro's me.


Then I sit and wait till someone like you comes along and solo's it for me.


Then BAM!


I loot it, cause I shot it first.


See, thats why that system wont work out to well.


What will work out well is the combat upgrade where one uber-template will no longer be the God's of all of SOE's creation.


Although you're idea is noble, I can easily see it abuse on the other side.


Then we will have posts about how "I'm sick of people shooting nightsister elders and krayts only once and hiding till someone comes along and kills it for them, then ninja looting it."
