Each week, I start a thread for you to share game tips with fellow players. Have a little known command you use all the time, a cool place to visit, a trick (non-exploit) to getting more out of the game? Share it here. To get things started:

You generally don't need to type all of the letters in a command. You can shorten the command as long as there isn't a similar command that comes before it alphabetically. For example, /dia will do the same as /diagnose.

Check out last week's tips.

With this in mind - don't create a chat group that is named similar to a command. It will cause you more grief.

For example: name chat group: medic

/medic test

some message about medical foraging

When searching for your FS charcter and your head is about to blow up because you realize you have no idea what your looking for just type /quit for 5 minutes to go post about how you haven't found anything usefull in game for the last 3 months about your FS charcter.

Map the alt button to your mouse wheel button.

That way you can switch mouse modes without the keyboard

In an area where baddies spawn constantly--like the Swooper Gang district of Mos Eisley, or the Meatlump Fools on the outskirts of Coronet--you can control the spawn rate somewhat.

After you kill a thug, if you want another one to spawn immediately, just double-click on the corpse to do a loot all. The corpse should disappear, and a new thug should spawn more or less right away. If you're trying to avoid new spawns, do a /loot instead, and physically open up the loot window. The corpse shouldn't disappear, and a new baddie shouldn't immediately show up.

There are some limitations to this. After you kill perhaps 9 or 10 of whatever the baddie is, nothing else will spawn for a few minutes. If you leave and come back, though, the cycle should reset.

Here's something I discovered yesterday that may or may not be common knowledge:

We all now know about the excellent new feature that shows waypoints and distances, but did you know that you can right-click on the waypoint tracker and you get a drop-down menu that allows you to turn your waypoints on and off without having to get into your datapad? I delayed my carpal tunnel syndrome surgery by at least a week just being able to toggle my house waypoint without CNTRL+D and double-click.

Another tip:

When running faction destroy missions, base defenders will regenerate after time--IF you don't destroy the base. If you happen to pass by someone else's mission spawn and are threatened by the Rebels/Imperials who are guarding the base, kill off the defenders with impunity. But DON'T destroy the base, as this will basically be stealing the mission from the intended recipient. If you just kill the defenders, chances are they'll be respawned by the time the mission taker arrives at the target. Faction points for all!

Wrong. Factories do work. Don't be an ass in what should be a helpful thread.

So, along those notes, here's my tip:
