Thread: The World is FLAT!!!
/tell Phelen Where are you?
Phelen: North of Mos Eisley
Kreegor: Is it night or day
Phelen: Night, why?
Kreegor: It's night here in Mos Espa too!
Phelen: You think too much
That isn't word for word, but the basic facts are there! Tatooine is flat! My next mission was to prove it by going to the edge of the world and taking pictures to prove it. I was 5000m away from the western border. I hiked all the way out over vast empty desert and mountains and what do I find... an invisible wall 500m from the edge! **edit** you Devs!!! I submit to you that Tatooine it flat! And if I had the proper funding, time, and was a little more **edit**, I would prove that every planet in this galaxy is in fact flat! I will go a step further and tell you that if the planets were round, where are the ice caps?! Maybe one or two planets won't have them because they are very warm, but all the planets missing ice caps, impossible! I tell you that Christopher Columbus was in lead with the Rebellion, spreading propaganda to further the Rebel cause. I cannot yet explain how this would help the Rebels, but I'm sure it did some how. Rebel scum and their treacherous lies!
Assuming that the units on the map are meters, then it is approximately 16,000 meters, or 16 kilometers, from one edge of the map to the other. Meaning it's about 10 miles if you're an American.
Unless the planet you live on is drastically smaller, the separation between day and night is slightly bigger than 10 miles. Unless you're right at dusk/dawn.
Oh. And additionally... we don't know how Tatooine orbits its respective suns in relation to its own polar alignment. Earth just happens to be almost perpendicular to its plane of revolution around the sun. Tatooine, with two suns, may not be so luck. Saying that it is night in Mos Eisley as well as Mos Espa could be the equivilant of saying it is night in San Franciso as well as Las Angles.
Give it up for thinking too much.
On a related topic, has anyone tried running off the edge of the maps? Do you flip to the opposite side (i.e. run off the far left and find yourself on the far right)or is there some impassible barrier preventing you from going any farther? I've never gotten close enough to the edge to find out for myself....
Chris
That aint the force, this small system of planets we can go to is a jail... we cant get out of a 10 mile area of the planets! ya know... i think higher intelligent lifeforms have quarintined us here because of our destructive behavior. Just take one look at the empire. well, mabye when we gain the ability to fly ourselves, we can get somewhere...
i just realized i dont know what i said.
First of all: who is Christopher Columbus. As someone who is from a long time ago and a galaxy far, far away, MY character has never heard of him...
Secondly: the areas we have to play in on each planetare way too small to be the whole planet. My guess is that the planet is round, but you merely cannot see that because of the limited space you have for comparison. Perhaps at a later date we may be given access to larger portions of the worlds.
Thirdly: why is this in Game Guides?
