Thread: Disgusted
And to think that when the game was launched, they(the original devs) stated that to see a jedi would be a rare thing.
I've concluded that the only surefire ways to have kept Jedi rare would have been to either a) set a hard cap on numbers per server,or b) keep Jedi non-PC.
Both ofthose would have been seen as undesirable, though each one by a different party. I don't think casual players would have liked to see the only Jedi in the hands of powergamers, and NPC-only/nonexistent Jedi would likely havehurt the potential revenues of S.O.E. So we as players are sending up an S.O.S. because we feel like we're S.O.L.

Last night in a Player City I saw FIFTY ONE JEDI! That's Wrong. Where's Anakin and his Clone Troops when we need them?
lol Kylania! Great question/joke. And you actually counted all 51? Are you sure there weren't 52? ![]()

The problem is that becoming a Jedi is essentially the end-game in SWG, unless you are content with PvP. What this game needs is elite classes beyond which we have. For example, something I was thinking about the other day would be to scratch the Bounty Hunter profession and perhaps rename it Mercenary (or something like that). Now to become a Bounty Hunter, one would need to Master Mercenary and perhaps someother skill trees, and also a series of quests and get xp much like Jedi to get Bounty Hunter. You then make Bounty Hunters a little stronger that what they are. Essentially keep the players grinding and striving for something, because the only thing that we have to grind and strive for right now are the quests that came with RotW and Jedi.
i think about things like this all the time. it seems to me the devs dont have a creative or imaginative bone in their body and cant dream up some nice content. i would love to be a jedi, but time restricts me to only playing only on the weekends and occasionally a few hours during the weekdays. im not a hardcore PvP'er either. pre-CU i loved to go out and kill nightsisters and krayts and other beasties. now i enjoy playing my chef and buying things to decorate my house since the devs took away most of my endgame-level content with the CU.
I think what they need to do is to make the next level for players.
12 month old accounts, 5 million specific profession exp, 1 skill point and a series of soloable quests would grant a Grand Master box and title with skill mods that benefit that profession.
Obtaining 2 Grand Master combatboxes makes you a Level 81.
24 month old accounts, 10 million specific profession exp, 1 skill point and another series of soloable quests grant a Legendary box and title with skill mods that benefit that profession.
Obtaining 2 Legendary combat boxes makes you a Level 82.
With a legendary status ofa specific weapon you should also be granted the ability to use any and all of that specific weapon. For instance, a legendary rifleman should be able to use any rifle in the game. Legendary crafters could not be granted more expirementation points but should be granted large assembly bonuses and a specific craftable and gift for each profession. Like a Legendary Weaponsmith would get the ability to make a normally not craftable weapon of choice and as a gift, would get a special weapon crafting station with special art, perfect functionality and named (insert name here)'s Legendary Weapon Station. This station would only be usable by that weaponsmith.
Just an idea.
The old system was perfect in my eyes, with the exception of the Hologrind, which we all know messed the economy to hell and back. The Risk VS Reward was excellent though.
4444 Guardians were nigh-on invincible, but when they did fall, damn they fell hard. Strike 1.
I'd assume with relative safety that SOE didn't want to put a Alpha Class into the game. Lucas knows that would be a great selling point, and pushed it. SOE, with experience with MMOs, would know better. Any MMO developer does.
Alpha Class = No-no.
Imagine how much an ebayed jedi would go for if there were a hard cap.
