Thread: The Flaw in the new LEVELS-SYSTEM of the CU
Rhadida wrote:What I hate about the CU is:Once you want to switch templates, you cannot -- You will have the combat rating of your current TOTAL combat template, so if you are ranged and want to go Brawler you are level 50 as novice brawler as well. This will cause (in the new system) that you will get 0 xp for the low-level creatures that you are able to kill with novice brawler; In PvP you cannot attack a player with 3 or more levels higher, because he wil get a huge damage bonus because he is 3 or more levels higher. Therefore only PvP between equal leveled players is still possible; When they manage to fix the level according to weapon equiped, then PvP would be ruined as well: Example --- A completed melee templated character equiped with a Pistol enters Coronet (level 1 with ranged), someone (level 10 melee) hates Rebels and attacks the Level 1 (seemingly newb). Suddenly this Level 1 grabs his PH and is now level 20 and gets a huge damage bonus due to the 10 level difference and smacks him in 1 or 2 hits.
I was starting to get excited about the CU untill I read this
Is this how its meant to be or just bugs in testing?
- With these levels creatures with 3 or more levels higher will 1 hit kill you (so not types of creatures but levels, like level 50 Dwarf Nuna Babies etc.);
- When being a sole crafter, you have a combat rating of 1, so almost all creatures will 1 hit kill you. No more placing harvesters or tending your factories, since you cannot get to them;
- Once you want to switch templates, you cannot -- You will have the combat rating of your current TOTAL combat template, so if you are ranged and want to go Brawler you are level 50 as novice brawler as well. If you guys think this will not be the case you haven't done extented testing!! (I have been testing for 8 hours)
The LEVELS just aren't this kind of game, the old way the "Combat Rating" was interpreted was much much better!! So removed the level based thing please.......

I have personally done no testing in the CU system, but can you answer me a question please?
If i go out and fight an elder and it has 20 more combat rating then me, will i do less damage and receive more damage, then if i go in a group of 10, cause we have a better combat rating as the elder then, while the other 9 guys are just sitting around and foraging for food?
When you for example group up (say 2 level 5) you get both level 7, so you can take on higher levels.
So if you group up with 10 level 10's you get a way higher level, but remember if the NPC or creatures you are fighting is then still +3 or more it will get a considerable amount of damage bonus on you, so you get hit for way more. And yes when you are lower level the regen of the higher critter will be higher than yours. And you will do less damage because the critter is higher classed then you are.
Hope that answers your question ![]()

Imagine the problems for a Padawan.

The CU is still in testing.
Only mobs of level 1-15 have been balanced so far, wild lairs were spawning with unbalanced creatures.
From the recent patch notes for TC-5:
Fixed bug that cause wild spawn lairs to be created at incorrect levels
Rhadida, this is not the best place to post bugs from TC-5 as you will spreading doom and gloom to people that haven't been on test yet, this is the Game Guides forum.
It's best to keep it to the testing forums as you will have everyone worried about bugs that are in the process of being fixed otherwise.
If youwant to report bugs, use /bug in game or post in the TC-5 bug thread.
These are not bugs, they are the way the system works. If a creature is 3 levels higher it will get a considerable damage bonus, and the higher the level difference the higher the damage bonus modifier. So these are not buggs, they are facts from their Chosen Level-system!!
It works in various other MMOPG's like WoW, so I hope they will reconsider and change the fact of the levels....

7. CU has barely entered beta and most are still at the marksman/brawler stage...few in the novice elites...and theres still 4 weeks of work to do on this.
Four weeks is about right. However, let's not forget this was supposed to be tested in an Alpha test and THEN beta tested. Not to mention that all the crap that we've seen so far (command line overiding certifications) has passed by SOE's crack team of internal testers.
Anyone else not all that confident about this?!
