Getting within Healing Range, FAST!

This tip comes to us from Fractus ShiningShadow on the Gorath Galaxy:

Have you ever needed to heal a group member fast, only to select them and find that they are out of range? Medics across the galaxy know what I'm talking about. Well here's a tip for getting into healing range of any group member fast:

Using Shift +[# key] is a great way of selecting your group members or yourself fast. Followedbythe heal of your choice. That's pretty basic healer stuff. But what if they are out of range and you haven't any idea where they are, or there is so much visually going on that you can't find them in the crowd? Well try using the /follow command. Better yet, assign /follow and /stopfollow actions (CTRL+A) to hotbuttons (F1-F12).Using /follow will automatically move your characterwithin range the targeted group member. Now try that heal again, followed with the /stopfollow command or hot button. Bingo! You've moved into short-range healing or buffing range with the click of a button. This tip worked before the CU and still works with the CU. No worries there...

Here's a list of the commands I use, in the orderI use them:

Shift +[#] Selects groupmembers.

/followAutomatically moves you to your target groupmember.

/bactaShotAny short-range healing action can be used here.

/stopfollow Ends the /follow command, Freeing your movement.

Rinse and Repeat...

Hoping this helps beat the "out of range blues".

Special thanks to Imortissa, a long lost friend and my inspirationfor becoming a healer, who taught me this tip. We miss you M'Love.

FIRST!!

Got a problem with the current healing bug? This is where /forceheal (not sure about any other heals) heals the most damaged person in your group instead of you . . . . . how annoying.

Replace your heal icon with this macro:

/forceheal self;

Then put the macro icon on your toolbar and voila, you'll be healing no one but yourself!

Need to know when you have been knocked down?

Changing the colour of the system message 'You have been knocked down." can help you to get that Knockdown recovery in a little faster.

Go into options (control + O) and select chat colour.

Under new text colouration enter the sentence "You have been knocked down."

Now colour the sentence any colour you want (preferably red)

Now when you get knocked down it will come up as a red (or which ever colour you chose) system message. This will draw your attention a little faster to being knocked down.

TH, isnt it Ctrl + # to select group members ? Maybe I adjusted my settings somewhere along the line, but I think that Ctrl-1 targets self, and that 2-7 are your group members.

My tip:

When using the Cyebrnetic arm that has a resuscitation capability, make sure the target you are trying to rez has /consent (yourname) before attempting to use the arm, or you will have to wait out the re-use timer(which is as long as the rez timer)

Good tip, that one!

But shouldn't there be a State Icon for 'Knocked Down', to go alongside the Stun, Dizzy and Blind ones?

Ok, this is a great tip. One of the better ones I've seen on the boards. Good Job!

I just made a bunch of changes such as "completely looted corpse" as a new color. This will help those magic words stand out when you have a larger group going around looting.

Get a master doctor in your group. They have a buff called Adrenal Boost that adds +40 to your speed for 20 minutes!!!

A tip needed for all Architects/Interior Designers/owners of lit homes in preparation for publish 18.

Architects - stock up on candles, desk lamps, free standing lamps and table lamps (the lit ones).

When publish 18 is released almost every candle in the game will snuff out, all lightbulbs will suddenly break and the lot will need to be replaced.

If you have any of these lights look up your local architect to get your replacements, and remember they have a limited lifespan and will need replacing on a regular basis (depending on the skill/resources of your architect).

(Those who own Torches or Streetlamps - they are not affected)

candle timers are finally going to work? Wow!

Th,

What's the current status on the character transfer system? I know it was improved, but you guys never said how it was improved.

I don't want to take my items, I just want to be able to keep my badges and keep the same name if I'm just switching accounts but not servers.

So can we get an update on this? Thanks a bunch!

Im not convinced this is a bug, but it is somewhat annoying "feature"..
The pass-through Assist feature is what is causing you to heal other people. The reason that happens is you have the Enemy targeted and the enemy has someone other than you targeted. That causes you to heal the player the enemy is currently targeting.

The only ways around this are to un-target the enemy before healing yourself, or make a macro with the "self" tag so it always heals you.. (but that macro wont heal another player even if you target them)

I think it's a shame no Dev has mentioned this, considering how much work some of us Interior Designers have put into places.

This will make well-lit and interesting places suddenly dark. I'm all for repeat business for Architects, but this bug has been around so long that many have just incorporated it into decorating.

Considering how much time some have spent on decorating, a mention in Publish notes would be nice, if this is really going Live. Some advance notice (besides from a player the day before a publish) to get some candles/lamps handy to replenish burned out ones would have been nice. Did you forget about how this would impact your players, Devs?

I also think it was an extremely poor choice to make this change/fix, given all of the more pressing issues in this game, and the fact that sometimes when something's bugged, it's best to leave it alone - I once saw someone with a huge Rebel symbol on their wall made of candles. Now it'll look like junk. Who's going to continually replenish these candles when they burn out?

Kind of a sad day for some Interior Decorators. I know my Fort Tusken Tavern will never look the same with burned out candles everywhere...they really added atmosphere. Now replacing them all will be a constant annoyance.

It would also have been nice if they'd fixed the candles and lamps burning out on vendors, and the last one burning out in crates. The more you split crates for sale, the more candles/lamps you waste. Pity that.
