Thread: strange *new* combat bug

Ive encountered a strange new combat bug...is anyone else having this problem?


planet - dathomir

prof - master rifle

hunting rancors


As I am hunting them...about every 10-15 mins my combatdamage and combat specials stop working


so I am targeting and attacking the rancors and using adv strafe...when all of a sudden, the rancor I am killing just stops dying. It's HAM no longer goes down.


I looked in my combat window and see I am doing damage...over and over and over..so the game is registering something


I thought I might be having lag or a disconnect..so i send a tell..it works...and get a response. Guess it's something else


I switch targets..maybe that rancor warped 100 meters away..I clear by combat queue...I hit peace...


still I cannot do any damage and no specials work....


It lasts about a minute...all the while IM taking damage..then the game works again


and I being stupid?...is this a new type of lag Ive never seen before?

I've experienced this as well with a number of professions. TK, swords, rifles and carbines. You still get the floaty above the mobs head saying that you've hit it, but not how much you've hit for, as you say the damage just stops for a few seconds. Not just on Dath, its happened to me against Squills and Quenkers, as well as everyones favourite PVC clad soliders.

Yeah, I encountered this bug too. Seems to happen when you area attack (strafeshot2) on a lair.

The funny is that, I can't even peace out from that attack, it will auto-fire for quite a few minutes before it finally decides to stop

here too back when I played rifleman, so it's ingame since a little while.

hitting a lair with any bodypart -specific attack induces the same problem too.. i've solved it by:


-clear

-target mob in vicinity (not necessarily in range)

-attack

-wait for target to change over

-peace


after that it works again.. you get "stuck" on the lair is what im thinking is happening



Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

here is what's going on, and it's been happening for the last month or so. If a target is not attacking you (whether you've made it run away by doing too much damage to it or it hasn't engaged you yet), all you will see above the target's head is "head hit", "body hit" or whatever, but it won't take damage. Unless the target is specifically attacking you, OR you are specifically targeting that target,whatever you're fighting won't take a lick of damage.


I've tested this over and over, and this is the way it works. Unless it is targeting you, or you are targeting it, you won't hit it.

Sorry solzdevius that is 100% wrong. In case you did'nt know we rifleman have something called an area attack that SHOULD attack the target we are attacking and ANYTHING ELSE in the area of effect. I too had the excat same problem as ronstara yesterday several times and several times over the past few days allways on dath and allways vs rancors and only rancors. I aslo seem to get the strange bug where suddenly i would lose over 2000 points of mind (with out being attacked for that much) and then of course get incaped and die. Why is it that if your have ONE unarmoured locaction and ONE pool they will incap/kill youthat you ALLWAYsS will get hit in that ONE location and ONE Pool WITH OUT FAIL by animals that are not supposed to be able to traget.

I had this happen as well on Tatt yesterday:

Master pistolemen, thought my pistol had expired but nope'

I had to move about 200 meters from the group and come back

to have them start actually showing the damage in their HAM bars again.

Happened twice in about a 2 hour time span over by the Krayt Graves.

He's not wrong, he's just refering to *another* bug. Spin attack and any other area attack won't damage anything that tries to "get away" or you don't have specificly targeted, whether they warp 80m away or move 2m away. Rather annoying against Mokk, janta, rancors, etc...


Of course a strange bug along the lines of the subject of this thread is I now come across about 3 individual creatures a day that are "white", rather than yellow. They're still attackable, but they actually have shown up as say a non-attackable NPC. Didn't notice it anywhere but out on Tat though. *shrug*

there is a 2nd bug I've encountered when attacking lairs...


this original post isn't involved with lairs at all


the *other* bug that Ive seen with lairs is when I use a special on a lair..and a mob appears during that special...I cannot peace out on that lair. And if I target a mob..the lair keeps getting hit..and more and more mobs appear


My solution to that is to run 100-120 meters away from that lair if it happens...or to use a normal attack against it until all the mobs have spawned


But, this bug that I originally posted is a fatal bug to me...as Ive died 2x and used more Vercupti to save myself this week than Ive used in months

This is NOT a bug.


It is actually a fix for the corpse stacking exploit. This situation only occurs when there are too many corpses in the area and you are using an area attack.

It happens all the time with my jedi.



The solution is to move your targets 10m away, and VOILA you area attacks hit everything again.

The reason it starts working when you go 200m away and come back is likely due to some of the corpses despawning during that time.

Its still a bug if you suddenly can't get damage on a mob and it can damage you. at leats twice there where NO dead bodies about

yup! i was wondering if anyone else had this bug


i was hunting rancors spammed strafe 2... cleared combat q & i was still doing strafe 2 and doing no damage... i switched weapons and the bug went away
