Bluechiss,

Glad to see you finally figured it out, "I am going back to playing the game." Getting XP is playing the game not grinding it. It is only grinding it if you want to have a jedi in the minimum amount of time possible.

I hope to have a jedi in 8-12 months. That is fine by me. I am going to play the game, enjoy the quests, and enjoy the road to jedi. I don't need to be a jedi tomorrow. I really wish people would stop talking about getting XP as grinding. It is all in your approach.

High XP requirements is the only gating the devs can do. Every game is like this. To be 150th level uber god knows what in EQ takes millions and millions of XP. Jedi needs to be hard and take forever, so much so that it discourages people. This is not KOTOR and not everyone should be jedi. I think having 5-10% of the population having jedi may even be too much, but we will probably see more than that.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's not grinding to become a Jedi...I'm playing the game to become a Jedi. What a concept!

Does this new xp requirement apply to existing Jedi, as well?

I was never going for Jedi so I suppose I'm technically not giving up on it. However I am going to the village, I'm currently waiting on the Sith that are appearantly lost. The village to me represents new content, not a path to Jedi. Once I get there and unlock a tree I'll just write off the whole thing as essentially finished for me. I'm not going to grind experience to advance.

I've been playing for over a year, I grinded marksman, scout and BH, my days of grinding ended last November when I attained MBH.

TH said to just play the game, but playing the game for me entails doing quests, and while the new system is more quest based it is still at it's heart one big grind. So far the best content in game has been the Theme Parks, I'd like to see some more of those added sometime soon.

Something tells me that JTL is just going to be a new grind wrapped in some quests too.

yep I've been on the game since the beginning which I can tell from your register date that you have too. I did the holo grind when it first came out. 3 pre-holo masters, 4 holo masters, then 11 prof after for a total of 18 til I got tired of the grind in Nov/Dec of last year (mistake). The only thing that really ticks me off is that I only had one more silent prof to do at that time & my buddy I was grinding with got lucky enough to hit all 5 holo prof after grinding 11 total prof & then they changed to 8 unlocking prof. I hate the fact that I see ppl who started the game a few months ago & have jedi because they obviously have more time on their hands & grinded out 32 prof quickly. Well, I did my visit to the village & got 3 unlocks which means 3 more to do & figured out today as a TKM I would have to max my xp 61 times to finish this. Don't see it happening since not enough content in the game to keep me interested anymore & that grind will take probably 6 months with my play time. I dont understand how this makes it possible for the casual player to ever have a jedi now. Disappointing for me & probably means I'll cancel my 2 accounts & move on. I love this game so no whining or complaining but the "content" was never achieved on this game which has SO much potential

I agree, i hope to have a jedi within about 3-4 months seeing how i got 3 free unlocks but i'll take my own time, i still goto school and i do have a busy job so it's a pretty hard combo but i still managed to get 1 block out of my 4th tree unlocked last night so that means i have only 3 more blocks and 2 trees left till jedi

Is it me being a cynic or does anyone else think that getting Jedi will actually become much faster in the future anyway? It all comes back to the market. Clearly SOE believe (and its a compelling case) that new subscribers requires Jedi, at least until JTLS. To many people Star Wars = Jedi, more so since the Prequels.

If people are going to take months and months to get Jedi they are going to abadon the game or they are going to protest. Looking at how Jedi has been tweaked, tweaked and overhauled due to player protests in the past I think that as tough as the new system might be they will make it easier or else they achieve nothing in subsription terms.

It's like permadeath or skill box loss... eventually protests and players who want to be jedi getting frustrated will force them to make a market decision and make it easier. There are economic (game economy) problems to millions of jedi so it will never ber "here have a jedi" but I predict it will be easier than it is now.

Let's see if everything will proceed exactly as I have foreseen (or the deathstar gets blown up under me)

The one thing i hate about these boards is no tone of voice is conveyed. Thats why i try to use "!" and smilies to convey my meaning. I cannot tell if you agree with me or not, so i guess i will just answer incase it was the latter

I never did grind any proffesion ( i dont want jedi either!). I actually did Bounty Hunter BEFORE vehicals! I enjoy the game at its many levels, but i am confused at the devs saying this is quest based. In reality, it is not. Its just a easy quest with hours and hours of grinding behind it.

I am actually quite happy that i turned away from it becuase i consider myself a serious player (although i did not grind). I hope for will follw and save the game from the jedi-ness.

It is far easier to buy KOTOR and play there anyway. Much more fun IMO then these quests.

P.S- I am also worried about the "whine-nerf" of the jedi quests

Ok, so first people were mad because they were forced to grind out professions they had no interest because they didn't think it was fair to be forced out of the profession they choose to play

So Now you can get all ur xp by staying with whatever profession you choose, You can pick anything, play the game, and get your xp without being forced to grind out stuff you don't want to do. And nowguess what? You're still not happy

Why are you not happy? cause it may take you 10 months?, It took me around 10 months to unlock by grinding professionsbut I guess you are special for some reason and shouldn't have to put that much work into it.

I honestly think people will never be happy until they can just create a character and have the option to be a Jedi Master during the new player tutorial

No, your missing my point. I did not holo-grind because it was bad for the economy (althoughi profited from it greatly)

I am disappointed because it is not quest based. Doing a 10 minute quest and then months of exp gathering is not quest based.

The path to jedi is thankfully not as easy as i feared, but the path to it is to put it plainly: dumb

let's face it...whining on jedi will not go away & no matter how hard you ppl who did unlock say "I went through this", "no one who got an account around X-mas & grinding 15 prof should get jedi", etc it wont go away...take me for instance I was here since day 2 and I did the holo grind for a while 4 holo prof & 11 post silent with a total of 18 prof...quit grinding end of last year because was tired of it and figured I'd wait til quest-based...I stuck around thinking my interest in the game would came back with quests or boredom would leave I should say better...I find out it is not really quest based & just another type of grind...I got 3 unlocks which means only 1 of the 11 was a silent prof which would have been after they uped the prof to 8 instead of 5...I sit down & calculate that I need 3.6 M FS xp which equates to 55 M roughly in unarmed xp...Can you at least understand the frustration that due to the caps on xp I am in no better shape than some who joined in 2004 & didnt have to deal with all the bugs & problems last year...With how much time I have to play now (RL job reasons), this would take me another year to do most likely...The new ppl starting thee game know that once they master a prof & cap it to trade in their xp & start all over I didnt have that option...I'm sure I'll get flamed but IMHO they really gave some of their loyal players who have been here a long time the shaft
