Thread: Dealing with Kill stealers

Hi. Tuskan fort, always has ksers there on the Gorath server.
There was one player who was running around ticking everyone off. One player who was a victim reported one of the ksers, and told me to do the same, since this could be viewed as harrasment. Soe has a policy against harassment, however, this isn't the sort of thing they deal with as I soon found out (already figured, but wanted to see). I sent in a ticket, and got the response that I thought I would, saying that we can't claim ownership over npcs etc. and then went into the game mechanics, of who ever does the most dmg, gets looting rights, somthing I am aware of, of course. The csr recommended I "gather my forces" and out dmg him. Well, i want loot. Groups argue and fight over loot, and plus, u got to get in before someone else clicks etc. On top of that. I don't have any forces.

Any ideas as to how to deal with kill stealers? I'm mostly annoyed because, I will be fighting a tuskan chief, warlord etc. TANKING it, while some un-armored rifleman tears him up safely, pockets the loot, and on to the next victim. I've thought about plastering their names all on the gorath forums, but I figure this will get on people's nerves, and it seems a bit childish. I welcome any ideas, and even if none come, it felt good to vent here.

Plaster their names. Although it is doubtful they visit the boards. I jumped all over one last night for doing it, switched weapons, followed him and returned the favor. He finally stopped and apologized.

Hate to say it, but if you can't beat them, join them. Become a Master TK, Swordsman or Rifleman, and you should be able to out-damage most of the KS'ers in the game. This is really the only way to beat them, beat them at their own game...

The aggravating thing about the Tusken Fort is that the re-spawn rate is so good, there is really no need to KS.

If you dont have any player forces to gather try gathering some npc forces. If he is indeed an umarmored rifleman then all you need to do is kite the mob and maybe a few of his friends. If it just happens to be in the same direction as the other player then oh well (If you cant claim ownership of the mob then it is not really a mob of yours that was being trained on the other player either). These interpretations of the rules by the CSRs are all messed up. On one hand they want everyone to play nice but on the other hand they will do nothing to enforce these rules and state things like well you cant claim ownership when all it comes down to is trying to enforce some common courtesy.

This is not "Stealing", nor is it "harrasment". These NPC spawns are for everyone, this is not a mission you took, it doesn't have your name on it. I might agree that it is acourtesy, and that perhaps they should change the way the loot rights go as to the first that hits it instead, but then you'd have people tabbing thru enemies there and elsewhere shooting it once and getting the loot rights. However, this is a game, and while I might consider it rude, it is a game, if you want rights do more damage.

I usually laugh pretty hard when I go out there on our server, newbies galore screaming killstealer at various people when the other guy was there first anyhow, and then screaming help 2 minutes later when unarmed 2 isn't taking out the warlord they decided to take on alone, and of course then dieing. They're trying to grind out there, which is silly, do missions if your trying to grind xp, these static NPC spawns are basically free-for-alls.

If you're a brawler prof, I believe you can draw the mob near the other person, warcry and then immediately peace. They will attack, break the warcry, and get aggro'd. I THINK this will work, but I won't swear to it.

(BTW, this isn't harassment b/c the other player had already engaged the mob willingly).

Great, I use to be a swordsman, and just gave up rifle
See alot of people recommending those professions. Rifle was too slow and boring. I thought swordsman ate up too much ham. Realized it is a requirement now to be buffed. I took a 9 month break and came back. Things have changed. Thought Swordsman was a ham eater, not knowing that just about any profession now is.

Well on Bria, this is normal course of action -- outdamage or get no loot. There are a few considerate folks but the majority are children who never learned to share.

On one hand, I understandwhere the NPCs drop loot. It is expensive to stay competetive in this game -- I need all the loot I can I do not steal kills from newbs who just don't have the skill. I will help them out if they need it -- if they are rude, then the loot just all became mine. If you are rude, you pay....a life lesson some people need to learn.

What i don't get are the kill stealers in the squill caves. I mean really, when i was grinding fencer, I had 1 squill on me (and this was before they increased the spawn rate). Was it really necessary to kill the ONE squill I was fighitng.

/sigh I love this game and love the people in it -- but just like RL, there is always an overabundance of whining, selfish children to try to ruin my fun.

it fits some of the def. of harassment. Look it up. Ksing, is just a term, anyway. Don't get too hung up on semantics, and I won't. Didn't read the rest of your post Yash, sorry but if u defend those types of players, well.......

So why isn't itconsidered kill stealing when you (the person who claims to be having kills stole from them) is camping the Fort? If you really want to make things fair, place a time on how long you can be in a paticular "dungeon", but oh no! That wouldtake away from your loot whoring. So instead of bitching about someone else trying to get the same loot your spawn camping, think about your own actions.

Now was this really necessary? I don't think anyone said anything about camping anything. Now I can't speak for the original post author but I never camp anything - I just don't have the patience or the energy. I like to actually get to kill stuff, not just sit and wait for it to reach its next spawn cycle.

The fact of the matter is, people have lost the concept of common courtesy. If someone is fighting a mob, leave it alone unless they ask for help. If you don't want to help, let them die and then you are welcome to the kill. Anyone who has played this game for longer than 1 week even, knows how easy it is to figure out who is just a newb, who is grinding a new prof or who is just there for the loot. I am just asking people to try being nice ~ you dont' have to talk to them or be their friend, just leave them alone. Such a sad, sad universe we live in
