Do they do as good as some pets? I'm interested in getting one because due to lack of skill points I'm going to drop CH skills. Do you have to pay to have them repaired, and if so where. I heard they were nerfed a while back and just wanted to get some input. I've only been playing about 2 months. Thanks in advance for any help.

The probot nerf was well before your time, they originally had armo, 3200 HAMand high resists, plus decent damage. They allowed a novice marksman to solo things that a master could not, so they got the bat. After the nerf they were smaked down to 800 HAM no armor, and only did like 70 damage. I do not currently have one, but I have seen combat R3's that have 4K HAM, but I forget the damage. While these are not going to be like a mid-level CH pet they can do some tanking for you. Also, when they get damaged there is a "droid stim" to repair them, I forget the exact name, and you do not need any special skills to use them.

Probots are still the tank droid of choice in my opinion, the R3 will come with a little higher hame but the overall damage out put of the probot is greater IMO. The old probots had a generic form of combat installed in them. Now we can install and stack combat modules in the probot to give it an effective combat rating. You may want to check with your local master de, many prefer a probot filled with autoheal modules. This allows the probot to heal itself yet drops the overall damage output of the probot becuase the combat module is replaced with autoheal modules. These type of droids are most effective when several people in a group have them as they all heal each other. so 5 autoheal probots is a force to recon wiht

Thanks for the replies. One more question. What type of xp do you get if your droid kills the target?

You dont, the droid takes some of the share of xps from you, just like a CH pet does.

Best thing to do with these droids is to group with them and leave them in a city. You get higher lvl missions and get an exp bonus. If you need to use the probot it will take your exp from you.

I suggest getting a "Probot Tank" droid. This is a probot with 5 auto-repair modules in it. They eat batteries, but you don't need to worry about droid stims much. The probot will also do very little damage and not take much of your xp.

I have a probot tank and with itsauto repairit can take a beatingwhile distracting ahostile long enough for me to get my licks in. That's how I soloed the untrained padawan on Dantooine as a novice TKA.Although the droid got seriously hammeredonce he broke out his glow stick. Plus with only doing 1pt of dmg it took almost none ofmy XP.

I have a rahter nice probot, and although I'm killing things that it could never HOPE to survive, it still has it's uses.
Mainly, I keep it with me when I'm doing unarmed training, or in a situation where the mobs tend to RUN AWAY when they are about to die. I simply send the bot after teh fleeing mob, and turn my attention to the next target.
I too had to drop CH due to a lack of skill points...not very happy about it, but what are you going to do? The probot is a poor substitute for a good fighting pet in teh high-end game, but it still has it's uses.

If you want the Droid to kill for you then Probot is the choice for you it shoots fast and damage is 160-170 I think.(3300 HAM I think)
If you want the XP from the Kill for your self then get ether an R3 or LE Repair Droid the LE maxes at 6000 HAM and can have 2 upto 40 points of Auto-repair Power (droid fixes itself and all grouped droids around it for that amount every 10secs but cuts battery life from 1 hr to 30min) the R3 can have max HAM of 4500 and upto 100 Points of Auto-Repair Power. All Droids have AP0 and 20% resits across the board if the DE is any good (there is a bug that shows the Droid having 40% resits but it is a bug).
Auto-repair Lowers the Combate Capablity of the droid as you have to take out a combat mod to put a Auto-repair mod in. So it does less Damage giving you more XP for the Kill. BTW all droids are rated at CL 18 but are all Non-ch

I've got both an LE Repair Droid and a Probot on the data pad and my decision on which to use comes to weapon selection.
As a Commando/Rifleman when I want to use my FT I pull out the LE. The reason comes from the fact that the LE's attacks are melee and that they will not "break away" like the Probot does in order to get into ideal range. The LE maybe slow but once it has a target enaged it doesn't let go. Commando specials are 16m and under... the LE goes in first, he engages, I follow into FT range and start FS2'ing... target goes do.
Now if I'm using my rifles then it's the Probot. Reason: "Guard" command. With a rifle you can uses your specials at 64m. I typically group with my Probot and then assign him to "Guard" me. I then move into 64m range of target and start engaging. After 2-3 shots the target agroes and starts to close. During that time my Probot's guard function kicks in and he moves in to range attack and therefore usually pulls the attention off me and on to him. I engage his Auto Repair function and let him hold the target at range while I manoveur and Headshot 3 with little worry. The LE in this case has little worth as, due to his slow speed, he typically can't engage the target fast enough to pull it's attention off me.
