Thread: New Jedi system, old system in a much worse package

Whew, after seeing the so-called jedi revamp in test center I'm glad I quit. What a joke.... original system called for grinding through professions. No quests, no finding some ancient scroll, no saving a jawa from a beating only to receive a logbook containing a jedi guide path, no mysterious hidden jedi clan who reveal themselves to worthy players who saved the gungans, no secret mission accomplished after finding a video tape inside a droid bought from a jawa dealer, etc. I can think of a million good storylines, why cant the devs ?

Instead they launch a new grind in the same old packaging. Go to a village on Dathomir and after getting a glowing feeling (visit the right POI and warren at most it seems) get invited to grind, oops I mean village. Then start grinding, any xp earned gets translated to force xp. However under old system, master a certain number of professions and done. Under this system, grind xp for certain classes, however lose millions of xp in te conversion process (1x10 i some case, ie. 100xp = 1fxp).

How dumb would someone have to be to actually do this ? I mean I love the thought of being a jedi more than most do. Yet even I have my limits, sheesh.

Eh, the new system isn't so bad. I've been testing it out, and I've enjoyed it. This is more "Force-like" then grinding professions, in my oppinion. I've had fun with it so far...

Anyway, if you're so angery with the game and how it's being done, glad to see you quit.

If it can keep the number of jedi down, i fully support the devs decision on the new quest

Its such a pity to see you go....NOT! People like you we dont need in this community. I am glad they did these changes; something fresh and original. And if you had already quit go post somewhere else. Your opinion is not need since you dont even play the game. Thank you.

What an idiot, no wonder SOE refuses to change when people like you think what SOE did was new ?

So now instead of grinding 30 professions you can just grind one and trade in that xp for a fraction of its value ? Pathetic... guess you dont see SOE dangling that carrot in front of you. Hey by the way, I got a bridge to sell if you're interested.

Here's new.... A QUEST BASED SYSTEM. Not an xp grind. Nothing new to see here , please move along.

To the troll who said, good glad I quit. Hope you feel that way after me and thousands of others quit over merchant nerf and this garbage. Hope you enjoy bidding on crates of brandy on trade forums and paying millions for it.

I said fresh and besides look at it this way, grinding XP will probably piss of alot of people and they wont do the quests beacuse it takes so long in order to get the FS XP and continue on the path to jedi, and lets not get started on the jedi, that will take you million's of XP to get anywhere. So it will control the population a bit. Most people dont stop and consider the work that goes into doing this stuff. Ive been here since day 1 and so have you and little by little the game has been improving. I know that sometimes the DEV's make stupid desicions like the merchant thing, which they are considering changing(read last nights dev chat.), And the combat revamp delay. But this is a compex game. No other game out there online or not is this complex, unless you happend to play the ultima games. Still we shouldnt lose faith, They work hard and changes are alwyas thingsthat people by nature are afraid of, so just cool it. COme back in 3 or 4 months try it again and see if you feel like coming back.

There are other ways to make jedi rare, which I doubt is there intentionhere. I think its pretty obvious what SOE is doing, milking us for every penny they can. Case in point.... combat revamp, combat revamp delayed, combat revamp delayed again, combat revamp delayed AGAIN, JTL is coming so hang on please, jedi revamp has started, etc.

They could have done a quest system with rare spawns involved, mysterious locations to find, ancient scrolls to be translated, a crystal quest, seeking jedi parchments and holocron data, etc. All would take a loooongg time but would have kept me playing and interested. The way SOE is doing it now is such an obvious ploy to steal more money from me. If they at least "pretended" to care about me, I might have stuck it out. However, such an obviously disgusting attempt to make me play for another 6 months is unacceptable. The name on the box is star wars, I would have stayed if the game was even remotely worth it (which I have).

I've been following this a bit on the jedi forums. Yes you can trade in xp at a ratio of loss, but I believe there are also quests too it that need to be completed before you can open each "pillar." The homing beacon loot kit quest comes to mind. So yes there is still grinding, but at least you know where your goals are, much better in my opinion. People who have been playing a long time will also have an advantage of banked skill points and badges (which have been rumored to have something to attain enough force sensitivity to find the guy who sends you to the village.)

I'm betting a lot of people will just use the FS skills to enhance their current character, which is what we've all been asking for a long time, and not go on to the padawan stage, because then it gets MUCH more difficult.

that would be true of xp hadnt been capped for many months for most of us. From what Ive read, my max combat xp and armorsmith xp will barely get me one box, woopie. Also, one delivery mission is not a quest.

Well seems like a good idea that you moved on, your attitude definetly is not only selfdestructive but also a pestilence to everyone around you.

So do yourself a favor and stay of these boards too.

Personally I think SOE is doing a good job on this, sure there are bugs, glitches at times and they do make mistakes but that is unavoidable with something as complex as a MMORPG.

Maybe on these edited fanboys forum you appear to be in the majority. However check any other site, www.mmorpg.com for example and see how blind you are. SOE is well known for being the absolute worst game company out there. SWG has the reputation for being the biggest disappointment in gaming history. Wake up and smell the burnt coffee.

I am aware about what people write on other boards and frankly I dont care much about it.

There are games I tried and didnt like for one reason or another, maybe to concept wasent to my taste after all or changes made caused me grief, so I just moved on. Thedifference between you and me is I move on and dont comeback and whine, pestering people whoactually like said game.

So if you quit then quit or if you wanna start playing SWG again then thats fine too. If you want to come with some kritisism make sure you do it in an orderly and constructive fashion, that way ppl might actually listen to you and your chances of influencing the development of the game increase dramatically. But if you wanna whine like youdid hereyou should go do it somewhere else, its pathetic really and makes you appear like a bad tempered punk with serious personal issues (im not saying that you are but thats the impression you give me when I read your post, so no offence intended).

Do it right orjust leave it be kid.
