Well for me it's because I had nothing left to do.
Since I got Padawan I've been spending more time on my alt that I unlocked and have been having more fun with that than with my Padawan "Grind".
I know now that my finished Jedi will be nothing more than an "Uber" PvP character along with all you other Jedi wannabes but unfortunately we have to face the facts that a well thought out 3 week template will still kick our butts.
As of now I'm doing something that I've never done since I started playing SWG which is build a completely new character just for the hell of it. Believe me if you've been playing SWG for awhile try doing a template you've never thought of doing and have some fun again instead of grinding your sole away.
I suppose what I am trying to get across is that this game doesn't have to about "Grinding" is should be about having fun which is why we pay our $15 isn't it?.
Well whatever you're doing in this game I hope you're having fun and not dreading logging on
Happy New Year

It's cool. Sounds childish but it's the honest truth. I've wanted to be a jedi since wathing the movies for the first time. Online games such as this one will be the closest I get to that.

I'm doing jedi because I love them. I've always been a huge fan of jedi, ever since the very first star wars, episode 4, when I saw luke ignite that lightsaber I jus said wow thats sweet. Then episode 1, darth maul vs obi wan and qui gon where he's goin nuts with the double bladed I thought it was awesome. Played knights of the old republic, absolutely loved the game. I just love jedi. And anytime I see knight vs knight duels in galaxies I can never get enough. Sure it sucks sometimes, the grind is crap, but I just love everything having to do with jedi. So playing one myself, in a game where not everybody is one (even though there sure are a lot lol) will just be great I think.

I would like the cool powers and to finally use a lightsaber. I will be good at combat for once, PLUS the fact i'll look hot in my robe
cant wait to jump in with a red saber and lightning cone some rancors.

I've been playing since launch. Master Dancer took me a month to get. Master CH took me 4 months. Master Pikeman *nearly faints* 8 months. Why and what is my point? I took my time, despite being a power player. From running cities and guilds do defending bases to normal profession grind, I took my time and have had SO much fun. I didn't run out to kill the biggest and baddest creatures right away. My first Krayt was two weeks ago. Most of my friends have left and most of my time is spent by myself piddling here and there. I've completed themeparks and gone on quests all by myself. I dunno
I am quite proud of that. Right now, I am about to complete the Hermit Quest and am soooo stoked!!! I did it and did it by myself!!!!
Jedi will be like that for me too. Grinding, or no grinding and whenever it comes. Its an achievement, an accomplishment that will be quite fullfilling. What happens from there, right now, I don't care LOL I go from goal to goal and once I finish one, I look for another. You are right, have fun. But fun is different for everyone
Not everyone likes to go out piddlin like me. Some want/need to belong to huge groups. Others can't stand the grind and amount of energy which must be put into the quest for Jedi.
We are all individuals and what is good for me might not be for you. COngrats to all who have taken up the quest for Jedi and are persuing the FS trees. Takes stamina and I am sure happy to be in the trenches with you!

Two main reasons:
1) Because it would be really awesome to roleplay. I'm a big RP fan and the thought of Kimi as an evil temptress jedi just makes me grind harder ^_^
2) Glowy Stick
nah really, just seeing that redlightsabre ignite and mess around with my guildies would make the burden of the grinding just slip away.
The grind is long and tough but the rewards are plentiful

I'm like the poster that started the thread. I did the FS grind, had0 freebies so it was a painful grind, then got my jedi, did the trials, etc.
I've barely played him at all because I'm making my alt a chef. Never, EVER thought I'd do a crafting prof. I'm actually finding it quite fun.
I've been here since launch (see my tag at left) and done strictly combat profs. Pistoleer, BH, commando, TK, even carbineer. Done pretty much all the combat profs, so I guess for me it's fun to get away from killing stuff for a while.

I want Jedi because I get an extra player slot. But it is mostly because I love Jedi. I've always loved seeing the lightsaber and fighting people with it. I've seen plenty of lightsaber battles in my 1.5-2 month SWG career and I just love seeing it.
The only thing that I don't like about becoming a Jedi is the hard work and time that has to be spent becoming a Jedi.
But it still isn't enough to prevent me from becoming one. This is the most fun game I've ever played and has the friendliest people I've ever met online... (They don't even give noobs a hard time)

I'm doing Jedi honestly because I've done everything else in the game...crafter, mostly all combat ones, entertainer....nothing left to do

I just want a Jedi to kill time. Let's face it - that is why we play games, isn't it?
It doesn't scare me when current Jedi say that the grind is terrible and much worse than the FS grind. Maybe it's a long grind. But it is something new to do. For a while at least.

/agree fully. i always take some time off of grinding just to have some fun so i can get my moneys worth. so many people take the game so seriously it becomes a job taht we have to pay for.
