Thread: Does the Old Man visit Kashyyyk?

1) Currently doing some of the missions on Kashyyk and just hit glowy. Will he and the sith thugs track me down on Kashyyyk or should I stick around the normal planets until I get this out of the way and then head back to Kashyyyk?

2) What are the CL of the sith thugs? Are they scaled to your CL (mine is CL58 right now)?

Currently the Old Man will not visit you on Kashyyyk, and the Sith Shadows will be CL 75 and 77.

So the level of the sith is intended? To get non-combat FS killed pretty fast?

A enemy of combat level 75+ is a big problem for the people that want to be jedi without combat (or just want the FS boni), like entertainer or crafter.

That's a good point: I remember the original old man implementation and the testing being very clear that either you needed an armoured non-combat or a buffed non-combat to be able to solo the sith to gain village entry (and they nerfed the sith to make sure it was possible to do this).

Unfortunately with the CU damage modifier and armour not allowed for non-combat the max level of the sith would be about lvl 4 (maybe 5 but that's getting a very tough fight as a pure crafter won't have any medic or even kd recovery)

lol....you got it.

By this this time next year SWG will be the illegitimate love child of EQ and WoW. Get your build ready to make loot runs, as crafter/entertainers will be gone.

The one thing that made this game different (a PLAYER driven economy), and they're slowly forcing the crafters out (RoTW expansion, over 50 newloot/quest rewardsand 2 new schematics........that helped out the crafters......lol). I'm going to go out on a limb and say the TOW expansion will have 5 new schematics (the devs said there's a "couple" of surprises for crafters/entertainers......lol), and lots of new loot/quest reward.

I wish I could cancel my account again.....but I already did after pub 22 and the "unintended" xp nerf.......lol.

I just started SWG about 2 weeks ago but the combat is totally screwy. My CL40 character got toasted nicely by a CL35 npc the other day. I use all of the proper abilities, had level 40 weapon (no armor as I have TKA innate). It was just a losing proposition. Close match, but the CL35 would win the fight most of the time.

Unfort they pushed the Combat Downgrade too quickly so there are balance issues all over the place. Ironic that the CU's goal was balance, but I do not see it.

I'd imagine that most people who are gaining access to the village have some friends, or perhaps guild mates which they could ask to help them take out the Sith NPC's?

Or perhaps the person could do a /who and then send some tells to anyone in the area and ask for help with the Sith.

You people act like a crafter/non combatant type player has ZERO options.

"Crafter/non combatants have to get help to take on the Sith! That must mean they don't want anything but combat templates in this game! Bring on our fellow conspiracy theorists!"

Even if the Sith were spawned at the exact CL of the person who just got glowy, and that person is a non combatant template or crafter, they'd still lose.

Really the ONLY option is to ask friends/guildmates or even strangers for help.

Once you get village access you're going to need help with some of the quests anyway I'd imagine.

WTH?

I take it you definitely did not use Center of Being, improved or otherwise. So using "all" the proper abilities is out.

Otherwise there is no way that you should have gotten stomped by a single NPC five levels lower than you.

Center of Being is a TKA's best friend. It would have cut the damage he dealt you by more than half. The improved version lasts close to 45 secs and can be reapplied shortly before it fades. Start it up before you initiate combat and you should be fine.

My son is an up and comming Creature Handler and is only a level 18 at the moment. He was complaining that he couldn't even take on level 16 mobs. I sat down and watched him fight some mobs and after giving him some pointers on what he can be doing better, he can now easily take on level 18 mobs.

Take a look at your technique. It probably needs some refinement.

Let me be clear - I'm not necessarily saying that they shouldn't be lvl 75 (after all at lvl 5 they are a joke to any combat player!) and I would say anyone going FS without a combat friend is probably in for a shock.

I was just commenting on how the CU hasaltered the original code's intention.

With further thought though the CU haschangedthe original intentionfrom needing another player to prepare you (either a doc buff or a suit of armour) to another player to accompany you and do the fight for you.

If presented that way it is a fairer balance (not totally fair, but fairer).

(I didn't make the point at all well)

What would you think if they would tell you that you will need a artisan or a entertainer to be FS?

Interdependancy is good, as long as it applys to everyone
