Grind is fine, but some of the village quests are just ridiculous in light of how much grinding you have to do afterwards. The phase 3 quest for Dageerin has you taking down 8 sith bases, yet you can only do 3 every 24 hours. What is the point of this? I won't even mention the phase 4 healing quest from Silvara. You have to heal 50 people (100 for the reward), yet you only get credit for 1 heal per person as long as they're fighting an outlaw or pirate at the time you throw down the heal. On top of this, the group limit is EIGHT!!!

So while I'm fine with having to "work" (it's a game, if you're "working", quit playing) for my goals, and do not expect me to have it handed to me on a silver platter, but DAMN, those quests are just too stupid sometimes.

Work according to dictionary.com .... "Physical or mental effort or activity directed toward the production or accomplishment of something." So I should stop playing if I am doing this? Wow.. SOE would be screwed. I didn't mean work in a negative context.

Also just because the quests are "stupid" for you doesn't mean everyone thinks that. What I am noticing is a lot of selfishness among players. They want the game to be for THEM and how THEY want it. Forget trying to make the game suitable for everyone in a variety of areas??

I got my 1st holo not long after I started, opened it and it said Musician. With no intention of being a musician (no offense to the entertainers out there, just not my cup 'o tea), I just went about my playing until the village was implemented. Got my visit entirely by chance and did some phases just for the loot, never trained a box. Then I deleted that toon and rerolled in March and went through the village and 6 branches and should get my exit visit today. Mostly I just made my trips because I was getting a ton of xp and figured I might as well bank it.

But what do you expect when the new players are imbedded with the idea of becoming a jedi right out of the gate? I completely understand because if it was force-fed to me like it is to them, I'd have that now-now-now attitude too. I mean I probably made a few people's hearts break telling that I trashed a toon with half the trees opened.

But I think it's safe to chalk me up as one who wasn't in a rush and was in it for the fun of it.

It's not the grind I don't like, it's the fact that I CAN'T grind anything useful, I already have all the exp I need to be a jedi

Work according to dictionary.com .... "Physical or mental effort or activity directed toward the production or accomplishment of something." So I should stop playing if I am doing this? Wow.. SOE would be screwed. I didn't mean work in a negative context. I wasn't referring to YOU to stop playing, I was refering to all the smacktards who think it is "hard" work. And the fact is, when has anyone really played a video game and considered it "work", other than those working to make a game? While technically you are correct as far as the dictionary definition, the fact is, a game that seen as "work", as in "not fun", should not be played. If I'm not having fun with a game, I ditch it, simple as that.So again, I'm speaking of those people who most likely use cheat codes in all their other games, for god mode, unlimited ammo/health, etc. And SOE SHOULD be screwed, for the mess they've made out of this game (that while fun, can be much much better).

Also just because the quests are "stupid" for you doesn't mean everyone thinks that. What I am noticing is a lot of selfishness among players. They want the game to be for THEM and how THEY want it. Forget trying to make the game suitable for everyone in a variety of areas?? The first point is true, technically. However, I have an entire guild, and several friends in other guilds, ALL of whom have expressed the same sentiments. Having to wait 3 days to complete destroying 8 simple bases is too stupid. I think they should be more like Sarquillo's Phase 3 Capture the Commander quest (minus bugs, and maybe not quite AS difficult). That quest was the funnest (and most frustrating) one I've done. Something that actually FEELS like you accomplished something, not just twiddling thumbs until time passes.

And yes, there is alot of selfishness, that's true, but I'm not one of those. I'd be more than willing to give up skills, uberness, whatever, if it meant that the ENTIRE GAME was balanced and fun for everyone. However, too many people want the "I Win" button. Those people are the ones making things so terrible.

the grind might be easy, but it is boring for a game. Yes I know jedi is a valuable profession, but I'd rather have fun in the game...I might grind again, but I want to do something productive for the remainder of my vacation.

I think we should have unlimited 12hr respecs (fs/jedi in seperate pts of course) so we can always do whatever we want...it's a game isn't it?

Same here, I'm not in any rush. It's a long term goals, and I've been busy doing other things. Some days, I don't even fight anything, I simply roleplay, or I'll fly around in space. Currently, I'm working on completing my badge set for the race tracks. I don't care about the whole Jedi thing, though I definitely want that second character slot

I'm going to have to disagree on the point of respecing offer every 12hrs. That's just ridiculous! The respec wasa great idea and well deserved for the Combat Upgrade. It was good of them to let us change around our professions for a period of time so that we could adjust our templates according to how the new system worked. And that was only "fair". However, as it was useful and well deserved it was also VERY annoying! I don't (my own opinion, flame away) think SOE should ever offer full-time respecs because you want to "enjoy" more of the game. I don't want to see players that have never played a profession suddenly become masters in that profession! There would be total chaos, because those players would have absolutely NO idea how to play their profession. Plus just because you earned one mastered profession does not give you the right to just claim another. You must also grind your way up that one. Besides the system they have now it is way faster to grind out a mastered profession these days... All of this being my opinion of course!

I am just wondering... why is it that players are so upset for a profession they DO NOT have to pursue? Jedi is optional. Period. Is this a trend among unexperienced players mostly? I'm really not sure... I just want to know if anyone else out there is satisfied with the system how it is.. no matter how they do it. Even holo-grinding was fine with me. I realize that Jedi is something great to strive for and that it will take some time and effort to achieve.

This doesn't take into account bugs and other game situations preventing or hendering players from achieving their goal.. that is just something that happens that does need to be fixed, but it's just one of those things.

Ok, well, I think the problem is that a lot of people have really just reached their limit with the goof's that have been made in this game. They've gotten to the point where the game gives them almost 0 enjoyment anymore and fills them frustration and anger because the developers just aren't getting things done quickly enough.

THe problem is these same players also don't want to quit because of all the stuff they have that they feel they've worked so hard for. So they come to the forums to vent their frustration and anger.

The good news is, when the players start coming to the forums to vent, you know that they're in the first phase of preparing themselves to quit the game.

The bad news is, the forums are full of nothing but venting these days, and rightly so.

And honestly, to the venter's and the flamer's who flame the venter's I say to you this: If the game were so much fun, both the flamer's and the venter's would not be posting here, but would instead be playing the game.

So even the flamer's are really bored and pissed off, they just aren'tmatureenough to realize that they're not angry at the venters, they're angry at the game and those who run it.

There is a difference between communicating frustration and driving it into the ground. I understand completely the problems of this game. I don't need to hear it 101 different times from 101 different people. And I am not "flaming" anyone.. I was merely asking a question. Also a lot of the hostility would be solved if these said "venters" would present their frustration in an intelligent style. Hearing "I hate grinding, because it takes too long" is different then saying you are frustrated with the bugs of the game. The way the village is set up is NOT a "problem" with the game. Problems are when something the devs have designed to do one way aren't doing it that way. Thus complaints about bugs are not the concern of my previous post. I was merely asking why players have to complain about the game's initial design.

Again not true. I come to these forums to see possible bugs in the game, and possible solutions. I also come for advice on how to stratigize my FS build among with many other productive inquiries.

So even the flamer's are really bored and pissed off, they just aren'tmatureenough to realize that they're not angry at the venters, they're angry at the game and those who run it.

This is a very rash statement grouping everyone as either a "flamer" or a "venter". I am not angry, as you say, at anyone. I just want to understand the reasoning behind complaining constantly about "why someone doesn't like something"... I am totally fine with seeing 1, maybe 2 posts about a topic about someone's opinion about how they hate the way the game is ... not 100.

The point of this forum is to be constructive. Reading about someone's dislike for the game's design is not. Point being complaining about a bug and complaining about why someone doesn't like how something in the game (that is working fine) is NOT the same thing!
