Thread: glowy at CL 20, now how do I proceed?

Oh Noes!

I've managed to become glowy atCL 20 withouthelp from others--and that's even without any non-combat skills to speak of (novice artisan and novice entertainer only at this point).

From what I've read here in the guides, the first test after the Old Man talks to me will be to protect my crystal from two Sith who are approximately CL 75.

Problem is--there's no way I can beat them at my level. Heck, most CL 60-80 mobs simply sneeze and I fall over dead--and that's in full armor rated in the 5000 range. I don't want to say no to the Old Man, but does that mean I'm simply doomed to getting mybutt kicked weekly by Sith for the upcoming months of grindinguntil I can finally hold my own at a higher CL? Or is there some quicker way for me to beat these high level mobs in my current lowly state?

Any thoughts or tips appreciated.

thanks DS--though I'm surprised that I could simplyrely onothers to kill them, have them loot the corpses for the datapad, and then still be able to continue forward in the process.

Now I just have toget some, you know,friends--heck, maybe grinding will be quicker.

Ah. It would appear that the following message link was made to help the combat-challenged such as myself:

FS Helpers for Non-combatants

I will give that a shot.

Yeah, the Sith slaughtered me several times going to my factories, before a customer of mine exacted some revenge while he was picking up a rifle. Then I was able to plan with some friends when to attack the Sith camp. It's difficult when the Sith surprise attack now, because they would chase me into my guild hall and kill me in my own home.

You not onlycan rely on others to kill them but willhave to at your level. However, you will have to be the one to loot the corpse because the datapad cannot be read by anyone else or traded/given back to you by someone else if they loot it first (I learned that the hard way).

Another point. You will have to be in a group with the people that help you kill the sith since they will do more damage than you, and therefore stop you from looting the corpse if you are not grouped with them at the time.

thanks BS, that is definitely helpful (and makes sense). I'll be sure to follow that procedure if I plan to go thegrouproute (sounds like I won't have much choice for the moment).

This is why I think a person should be level 80 before earning glowy status.Even after you loot the pad and find the village it will be almost impossible to do the quests in the village because many of them revolve around killing those same sith shadows.Getting to the village will be hard because you have to go thru tons of high level spawns that will incap you right off your bike. And I won't even go into how difficult it will be when you finish and attempt to grind jedi with bounty hunters coming after you.

I would recomend going to the dantooine mining outpost and grinding a couple elite professions to get yourself to level 80.Trust me, it can be done in one to two weeks. Will make your life so much simpler.

/sigh

Not everyone's game lives revolve around combat. There are plenty of quests that can be done with no combat skills at all.

Find a Player city with Faction bases in it. Run around to different cities then hang out by the bases and let the stormtroopers help. That is if you are combatant.

Very well said, and something I think people tend to forget. If you're doing the whole glowy/village things to become a Jedi, then yes you should be level 80. But if you're just going for FS skills to enhance your other professions (such as crafting), then chances are you won't be very high level. And to all the doubters, yes this does happen, and probably more frequently than you know. Some of those FS bonuses are quite nice for crafters - why wouldn't you do it?

Let me get this straight:

You get a crystal from an old man

Get attatcked by sith shadows

Defend a village of people who have the force inside of them from said sith

All while holding onto a jedi crystal, and .....what were you saying again?

If you wanna do it any way thendo it,but don't complain when you are unable to complete the quests because you are too weak.It is what it is.

One more thing I want to mention to low levelers,STOP BOTHERING PLAYERS IN GAME TO GROUP WITH YOU FOR THE MISSIONS OR TO KILL YOU SO YOU DON'T LOSE DECAY.Sorry if this is a little harsh but ever since I started the village a month ago I have been inaudated with tells asking for me to kill them so they don't die on the way back to the science outpost.Unless that person has a helper sign above their head, leave them alone. This happens every time I log in or when I'm converting xp.I know this happens frequently as you said, every single day, every log in and log out.Every time this happens I start to say the "N" word, but I always hold back.Maybe if you actually had to be good at fighting and played this game for a certain period of timebesides being a good explorer these problems wouldn't exist.

Though I still don't agree force sensitive is acombat profession (it's not a crafting profession either...it's justtemplate support really) I do think that you have a point. Those people who areasking for that are not real crafters either. The are just low level combatants thatare in need of instant pacification (something a crafter NEVER is! ) As aCL 1 Master armorsmith, you learn how to survive and should be able to make that drive with out ever dying. That's just lazy and I'd never do it for someone.
