For of you who are complaining about missing communication from the devs..

I just found this posting by Tiggs in the 'in Live' Forum. I hope that will give you some peace again.

Jedi

* Phase 4 Village Quest is not working properly - bugged and is currently being worked on.

You can read this in this topic

It is now clearly stated as a bug and the devs are currently working on solving it.
Are you happy now?

cheers

No they wont be happy.

Most are so convinced that the Devs are out to get them I am sure they thinkthe postis an Hugelie brought on to keep the Jedi population down by singling them out, and screwing them over.

Kinda sad really....

That's great news. I am 200K FS xp short of my 6th full branch -- all of it so far is tied up in reflexes awaiting for the melee defense unlock. I think if it's fixed on the next update (and I hope it's really fixed) we should all have plenty of time to do the quest. When do the servers go down for updates? I assume the next one will be on Tuesday.

When there is a bug for jedi it gets fixed right away and it is important enough to place on a forum
Now FS is bugged and nothing is said about it then a topic that it is not working right...

You ask 1 dev and he tells he cant help and on another server they get a free unlock.....

So they are not concerned about the players at all it seems

Its been bugged for 1 week.

It is being fixed next publush (Tuesday)

so a week and a half for a fix. That is pretty much right away when you think that they had 0 idea untill a week ago that there was a problem.

Now if it was 3 months later then I could see your point.

Hey smart guy,

If they weren't concerned about the Players then don't you think that there would be no fix? They would probably say Tough Luck.

So calm down, your fix is on the way.

I can sum all these posts flaming the devs about this bug in one phrase.

I think it's more of the one-track mind of the Devs. Usually, after they put something in the game, they won't touch it again after they've done their little "tech support" phase after putting it into the game. Usually a few weeks time - then any bug is typicallyfixed and they're usually pretty responsive. Past that timeframe, though - it's like pulling TEETH just to get them to acknowlege the bug, let alone fix it. This is where the Phase 4 got shoved - in the "yeah we know, but development time on that has passed...we're working on phat lewt volume 5!"

Then, when people show up in a large number to have the bug fixed, things start moving.

You'll see this very same cycle go on with a number of issues from previous publishes - droids that STILL don't work (maintenance, surveying droid is useless), the candles put in for architects to have some repeat sales (but they burned out and never actually "WENT" out, just stayed lit so long as you didn't pick up the candle in your house), JTL lingering issues, just as a couple ofexamples. How long did it take them fix the stupid plasma alarm issues in multipassenger ships? There are always lingering issues, and if it's past the set time to fix them - they stick around a long time.

But, it's good to hear they'll be fixing it soon. I certainly hope they do, as a lot of people are stuck right now.

Your post, while it helps, still illustrates what I consider a major issue in itself: LACK OF COMMUNICATION BY THE DEVS AND OUR CORRESPONDENT. It's pretty sad when players are left to dig out the few fragments of information that are available and post it themselves. Aside from the rudeness, it also filters official information through unofficial channels, and when that happens, the information runs a higher risk that it will wind up with misinformation in it.

Here's what Gordon Walton promised us on that subject. It is instructive to review his words...

"How about just fixing old bugs?
Well, we are going to concentrate on this. We have a team dedicated to just that mission. You will see their work in every publish going forward. More importantly, we are going to get stricter on what new bugs get into the system, so addressing any emergent bugs will have priority. Perhaps most importantly, we will be communicating our priorities for and status of fixes more vigorously."

When Mr. Walton's post came out, I gave it a hearty "Amen!"

With this present issue, the SWG team had a golden opportunity to step up and demonstrate the reality of their commitment to high-quality communication. To say that they blew it would be putting it mildly. We've been left in the dark for over a week now on a major gamebreaking issue. Meanwhile, our esteemed correspondent lavishes days of his time on things like a detailed investigation of the best Culsion Inert Ore occurrences on all servers so Jedi players can get the best raw material for their lightsabers with their veteran-reward resource gift. Anyone feeling like they're watching Nero playing his fiddle while Rome burned?

It's good to see they acknowledged the bug, and are working on a fix, but CSR's are notorious for not having correct info. (note the CSR on Chilastra who got reamed out over giving players thier melee d unlock)

Now everyone keeps saying it will be fixed Tuesday, anyone have a link to something that says "servers will come down Tuesday to fix bugged phase 4 quests"?

I hope it is fixed on Tuesday, but I'm not holding my breath, I'm more concerned that if and when it is fixed, will we get extended time to complete the quest.
