Apparently everyone took that the wrong way, i was trying to state my opinion and get constructive answers from other people.Maybe I should have clarified more things... I AM NOT A POWER GAMER. I have played the game since Oct 2003 and STILL DON'T HAVE MY JEDI. What I am sick of... is all the non power grinders saying the grind is too hard and long. Yes it should be hard and long. You unlock when you unlock, I am close to being unlocked OVER A YEAR AFTER I STARTED, and I am not compliaining. Personally I think that grenades should do Heavy weapons xp and not combat xp to slow down the grind as well. So don't think that I'm in it for the 'throwing nades and trying to be ub3r l337'

Don't reply if you are going to flame me farther. I am merely trying to explain some things that so many of you all assumed when you flamed my last post.

If you don't want to be flamed don't post opinons on the internet. A wise man told me once that opinons are like A%^holes everyone has one and everyone thinks everyone elses stinks.

I personally don't care what anyone thinks about jedi because they aren't paying my monthly bill.

I think the 3 week gate is a result of a number of things. The Devs wanted to give the Village a story (kudos for that idea), so there had to be Phases. There had to be time enough for everyone to experience the story and do the quests, thus the 3 weeks. That seems a viable length of time if you think about it in those terms. 1 week would have been too short, as it's easy to miss a week due to RL stuff, and 4 weeks definitely too long. 2 weeks may have been ok, but maybe a bit short with some of the longer quests (crafting and the 3-day quest).

agreed, might have been better though... instead of the fs grind, you start a quest within the given 3 week period, and the quest takes like 3 weeks to complete. rather then unlock one tree grind for 3 weeks... repeat. Now i realize this wouldn't work completely since not everyone can complete the 3 week quest within the phases, so there would be work there. the gate and phase system is already a really good idea. the grind isn't IMO

I changed the topic title, and as you have noticed the conversation was changed quickly away from flamers and trolls... please stay on topic to the FS Grind!

well first i have to state that your last initial Starter post had more flames in it then most of the replies it got, When you patronise other people or put words out as facts and more or less tell people to accept it because that is your opionion, you can not axpect people sit sit still on the fence and nod in agreement to you.

Different opinions are not flaming, but enough of that this post is way better for the purpose of getting a constructive discussion going so cudos to you for that.

first of all let me arrest you on one statement, you say it have taken you nearly a year to become jedi as you soon will unlock it, we both know that this is not a fact, the village is not nearly a year old yet, its three months old so unless you already had hologrinded before so that you where offered 4 free branches to begin with the time estimation is not right.

Im not against the time it should take to get to initiate in itself 18 weeks or 4 months sound to me like a ok time consumption for reaching for the stars, what i dont like is the tools given to achieve this.

3 weeks each phase is just fine but each phase should consisted of 4 quests for the selected branch you did, each quest should take from 5-8 hours to complete for the average player this way there would be no need for grinding xp, and people could hunt or do what they find fun instead while waiting for the next phase to arrive.

if a player could not do all the 4 quests this cycle they had to do the rest next cycle this is no more different then people not having time to grind all the xp nessesary in a phase to be able to fill an entire branch with xp.

FS grind have brought us many silly situations that we would be better without, Artisans spending 23 hours on one knee right net to paemos surveying, more and more afk dancers musicians appearing in every cantina, doctors not providign community services like buffing cause they are busy killing one of their friends in the village so they can res them over and over. the list is endless and not much of it is good.

that it would take a person a minimum of 18 weeks to get the village done with is just fine, some people will never get 6 full branches cause its not their goal some will maybe even get 8 or 9 branches before they stop going to the village.

the FS quests have brought mostly bad things with it, geno caves where swamped at times when the kd dizzy bug was in the game, people have done missions in a so large scale after this that the dev team have found it nessesary to cut back on mission payouts. im not sure if you consider this but the mission payout nerf is a direct result of the FS grind, because of this silly and mindless village grind they have hurt all players to come after you with a lot less opertunity to earn credits like you could the last year. and im sure we have not seen the last result of this grind yet.

The combat rebalance will make it even harder, what comes next? and for what? jedi?

Jedi dont have anything at all, if you play your jedi correct as the devs want you to, no one but you will ever know your a jedi is that it is that the prize for it all, every single player in swg is hurt one way or the other because of character they can not see or know about?

i just say the price is to costly, and grind well grind is bad at any level, cause it in peoples nature to get grind over with so they can play, A smith grind so he can make new items, a dancer grind so they can learn new dances etc but when they are done they dont become invisible only jedi do that.

I did the hologrind had 22 masteries, didn't unlock before publish 9. So i switched galaxies in time to start phase 1 when it opened, so i did the hologrind AND village with no free unlocks (next phase i get jedi).

I know that in my previous thread i stated that they were my opinions only, so I don't know where you say that you felt i was dishing out 'facts,' I also know that I stated i wanted to hear other opinions.. of course I didn't want or expect people to nod in agreement, i wanted it to be a constructive thread. now of course as was stated and I agreed to, it was a VERY POOR choice of title, should have been Jedi is tough, should be a long grind..

In regards to your talk about grinding.. I do see your point there completely, and honestly don't know how to effectively respond to it right now.. I somewhat agree with it, and I also agree that it should be more quest based...

Sorry, but this is wrong. I have been after Jedi for over a year and yes I did the hologrind finishing 12 professions. But they had some screwed system that said you had to have X amount of holoprofessions to get X amount of unlocks so I ended up with 2 free unlocks, thus adding on another 4 phases, ie 3 months.

3 weeks each phase is just fine but each phase should consisted of 4 quests for the selected branch you did, each quest should take from 5-8 hours to complete for the average player this way there would be no need for grinding xp, and people could hunt or do what they find fun instead while waiting for the next phase to arrive.
Highly agree with this. Make it like the pilot quests like someone else stated, make them tough and time consuming but at least you are doing something other then buff......find something.....swing swing, shoot shoot...next for 3 hours....rinse and repeat.

Also Agree with this one.

that it would take a person a minimum of 18 weeks to get the village done with is just fine, some people will never get 6 full branches cause its not their goal some will maybe even get 8 or 9 branches before they stop going to the village.

Also a very good point, I know a lot of people that have no urge to be a jedi, all they want is the little extra bonus the FS trees can offer them in the chosen profession. A Prime example are a lot of the crafters, they love being a crafter and a non combatant, they just want the bonus to make even better stuff.

the FS quests have brought mostly bad things with it, geno caves where swamped at times when the kd dizzy bug was in the game, people have done missions in a so large scale after this that the dev team have found it nessesary to cut back on mission payouts. im not sure if you consider this but the mission payout nerf is a direct result of the FS grind, because of this silly and mindless village grind they have hurt all players to come after you with a lot less opertunity to earn credits like you could the last year. and im sure we have not seen the last result of this grind yet.

Also a valid point, How many of you heard of a solo group before the FS grind started? I didnt, yeah there were a few people that did it here and there, but majority of the time when you joined a group you actually did the mission with the group.

I pretty much agree with the rest as well but no need to break it down.

I like the idea of a more quest based village. say phase 1 rolls around you choose which branch to go after. at that point you recieve a mission you go do the mission (mission length should take awhile thought......5-8 hours might be a tad too long but something like that is a decent idea) when you finish the mission you get to train the box, much like in the pilot profession. you do a mission for each box and after you have all four boxes you get a reward. i like the small rewards its like a present before the reward of the extra bonuses.

now they can also mix it up where like in the pilot profession you have to grind xp to train a box and then you do a mission to get the chance to get xp for the next box.but instead of getting regular xp and converting why not do like in space and have spawns of sith that give out force xp.....maybe not at the level of say you get for killing them unarmed but something comaparable to the amount needed to get the box.

i think this type of set up would add a little content to the village (and this game can always use more content) and since some of the boxes have to be grinded out instead of rewarded you still slow down the time it takes to reach the exit trials. but its more enjoyable....or could be.

if your refering to long ago.. then i definately agree, I remember back when groups would form and everyone would go hunt enraged rancors or something.. lots of fun! but solo groups were around before FS grind, mokk / janta shaman missions are easily solo'able and give good credit amount (or used to) so lots of people did solo groups for that.. they turned into, and are now FS XP groups, most anyways.

I guess my idea was to try and hear opinions in a constructive and civil manner, however it appears most people (as seen in that thread) couldn't act that way.

Read that post afree with some points, and disagree with others, but that's fine.

I think the main problem is the implied definitions of the words used. You said casual gamer, what exactly did you mean? From the rest of your post it doesn't sound like you meant hours online, but rather those that want to AC tool the game while afk.... i could be mistaken.

I think every one agrees that jedi should be rare, it's just that some thing that all jedi should be rare except theirs. That's human nature, we all want to be special, and half the time we don't even realize we're doing it. Another thing, that might be over looked is that from what i've seen, the people that are posting on the forums are looking for a fight, no not all of us, but yes some of us, and those that are looking for a fight will find one, often at the expense of rational thought, and healthy debate.

I have to say i commend you for wanting to see the other opinions, and possibly gaining a wider insight into the different persepctives out there on the topic. Sadly, if those who disagreed had debated or conversed better with out flaming, i think that they would have made their point of view look a lot more valid to those that disagree. Maybe i'm just weird, but even though i agreed with some of the flames, the tone that they were presented in just made me want to rethink MY views on the topic.

But then again, now that I've said that, I too will be flamed shortly =)

Please don't lie to me, unless you're absolutely sure I'll never find out the truth.
