I think every one agrees that jedi should be rare, it's just that some thing that all jedi should be rare except theirs. That's human nature, we all want to be special, and half the time we don't even realize we're doing it. Another thing, that might be over looked is that from what i've seen, the people that are posting on the forums are looking for a fight, no not all of us, but yes some of us, and those that are looking for a fight will find one, often at the expense of rational thought, and healthy debate.
I have to say i commend you for wanting to see the other opinions, and possibly gaining a wider insight into the different persepctives out there on the topic. Sadly, if those who disagreed had debated or conversed better with out flaming, i think that they would have made their point of view look a lot more valid to those that disagree. Maybe i'm just weird, but even though i agreed with some of the flames, the tone that they were presented in just made me want to rethink MY views on the topic.
But then again, now that I've said that, I too will be flamed shortly =)

First off let me say that I don't do or would I want to do any afk grinding.. why bother? you pay to play the game... but then you don't even play the game? afk grinders don't even make sense to me but thats another post. Casual gamers should be given the chance to get jedi, but I just get sick of the casual gamers that complain its too hard make the grind easier so everyone can get it. thats the point I am trying to make is jedi should be hard and long. I stuck in there and am almost there. so it can be done and there is light at the end of the tunnel it is just a long tunnel.

From what you said, it seems that you believe the path to Jedi is currently not too long and shortcuts should be removed to keep it that way.

The new Pilot professions and their method of advancement would have been a much better way to implement the path to becoming a Jedi. The long grind was meant to discourage people from becoming a Jedi, but if someone wants it, they'll get it. This will not stop there from being a multitude of Jedi in the game, so why not make the whole thing enjoyable?
Agreed, village quests were a good start... the gating 3 weeks well, i guess it has to be done some way /shrug
I think just about everyone agrees that the grind is boring and meant to discourage people, but there are other ways to get around that while still giving the players that will get it no matter what.. the content along the way

Having just started the FS grind in the last couple of weeks all I can say is BOOOOORRRRIIINNGGGG !!!
Having to solo Quenkers and Huurtons may be some peoples idea of fun, but its not mine. I much prefer group interaction, but lets be honest you can't grenade lairs and creatures without injuring your own group members. I have estimated that I will have earned the necessary XP to complete the 4 boxes for my survival quest by the time the next phase comes round YAY !! 
Although it will cost me horrifically financially. I've already spent in the region of half a million credits on grenades just to make 120k combat XP.

My arm will drop off from lobbing all those grenades. Or I will be destitute on the streets of Mos Eisley hawking my body to try to recoup the millions of credits I've wasted on grenades.
So why do I do it ?? Because I want to unlock my second character. Frankly Im not overly fussed about becoming a Jedi, although it will be interesting to do the quests, and maybe do some PVP where I actually stand a chance of winning for a change.
Sadly though we have the grind. A certain amount of grinding is acceptable. But not the sheer level we have now. Everyone will be broke and bored rigid by the time they make Padawan. We need more quest based stuff, even if it is associated with a grind.
Im sure people would be more interested in going to place X and killing X number of creatures, rather than going out and killing any and everything in sight. A visible goal would certainly be more interesting for people. Something they can see. The numbers should be based on professions. We all know that TK's are grossly over-powered, so they should have to kill more than say a Pistoleer.
If you check the Jedi Knight Quests, they have to go out an kill X number of a certain type of powerful creature so why not make it so for FS players as well.
Give people an existing quest to unlock the branch, (plus the associated reward.) And then give them another quest to go out and do. Something that unless they sit at the pc for 24 hours solidly and insert IV's for fluids and cathetars, would mean that it will take them several days to 1-2 weeks to grind at an average 3 hours per day. It would make it a lot more interesting. People wouldn't be wasting so much time running back and forth to the village everytime they max out the XP as well. Something that can take up to half an hour to get to Dath, drive out there, exchange XP for FS and drive back again.
Lets be honest. Who in their right minds wants to waste half an hour of their leisure time, watching a character travel across some of the most horrible looking terrain ever ??? I don't pay my money for that. I want challenges and fun. Not boring travelling, and mindless solo grinding to unlock a second character.
Fun is the essence of what becoming a Jedi should be. Not a mindless drive of sheer boredom, but an enjoyable and exciting, (often dangerous,) challenge.

I don't know how old you are but it has been called the "special olympics" for a long time. It probably changed it's name due to PC retardedness. Have a special day!
To spell it out the point was not what the paralympics are called. The point was the kiddo called winners in those games retards.
