I unlocked my first tree last night WOOT! I had enough banked xp to unlock novice in enhanced reflexes and still had 30k xp. I am TKM, Master Artisian, Merchant 4322. I have seen the guide for grinding with grenades as commando, but I don't know that I want to pick up commando to do it. For what I am now what is my best alternative for grinding xp? I know merchant is free pretty much but I am looking at a conversion in that alone that will only give me about 5000 xp a day. TKM 30:1 would give me 30k a day which means I would have to cap xp 163 times in unarmed to master 4 branches. The best I have done on any creature is 5k unarmed and 500 combat. Are there creatures out there that give more and allow you to advance faster? At 5k a pop I would need to kill 29,400 creatures (less combatxp and merchant xp)to do this and that still leave 2 branch I need to learn. I am just looking to see how everyone else is doing this without granades. Any suggestions?

Well...
I have Master Commando but I havent once used the grenade idea. I am also a TKM. What I do everyday if possible is this...
I travel to the Tuskan Bunker(Tat) and kill everything there I get 2500-5200 (grouped) plus chance at crystals and other loot. I then travel to the Squill Caves(Tat) and if it is empty then I can pull in about 600k by just clearing out the cave. By that time the bunker would have spawned back, I go back there clear it out then I should be close to maxing out TK exp and can go to the village. That is all in about 2.4 hours or so. Just make sure you have your food eatin prior to raiding the bunker especially with the king.
If you need the wp to either the Bunker or Cave send me a tell in game and I can mail them to you. I will be on probably by 9:00 pm EST tonight.

You don't need commando to use grenades. All players are certified to use C-12's, and on my server they are sold for 22,500 per crate of 25 with 5 uses each. Max damage is 850 with a speed of 2.4. I usually cap combat xp in 2 to 2.5 hours, just get into a large solo group, take the 5K unarmed creature missions you were taking, and instead of getting the 5K unarmed xp you were getting, you will get nothing but combat xp. 3:1 ratio, you can cap a full tree in about 30 hours.

Yes, all players CAN use c-12s but they are so weak that you might as well go and hit Durnis with a small stick.

Better than him grinding out commando, just to drop it later. Mind you I'm totally biased, I dropped all of marksmen, cause I'm 100% melee with defense stacking, so I'd have to re-grind marksman just to get to commando, and without the spare skill points I'd have to re-template my whole toon. Forget that, 30 hours per tree for me...

Ejudicator how do you like your template?
I am thinking of changing mine from TKM/Master Commando to TKM/Fencer 4430/Doctor 4440.

I used to be master carbineer....I picked up tkm and dropped all of my marksman and carbineer....so now I don't want to regring just to grind again. Just seeing how those of us who are happy with what we have already are doing this grind. and thanks for the posts btw.

I'm liking it pretty well. It's fairly recent, I only picked up TKM 3 weeks ago or so. I mostly did it to cap the 900K unarmed, and the 900K two- handed in addition to the 300k combat for the village. I have always found capping 1 handed to be the most difficult, and the weapons for fencer just don't do the output damage I would like. I come in handy as a tank as well, and don't fear much in the way of PVE. I mostly picked up TKM so that when Jedi comes my way I will keep TKM for meditate, and I saw the new Blast Knuckler they are intro-ing during the CU and blast damage is the entire reason I kept Master Swords. For those that don't know AT-ST's and Elders are only vulnerable to blast damage and TKM alone is useless against them solo.

Just take your time and have fun. If you cap out unarmed xp atleast once a day you will a branch complete each 3 weeks. So that is just enough time for each phase as long as you cap out atleast once a day. To me that is for the casual gamer, not power grinding at all.

Just as an aside, if you read the description of the new weapons it's actually a "Blaster Knuckler" and not a Blast Knuckler. From the description given, it sounds more like energy damage and not blast.

Nope missed that entirely, was quickly scanning through theweapons yesterday and somehow missed that so going to re-check now. Okay checked the "Blaster Fist" more closely, I dunno, I think it might be Blast damage, but it's a tough call. Here's the link...

I'm at work now, and can't get ingame, but what does the PH for swordsman say for damage type, "Energy Blast" or just "Blast"? Is anybody testing these now, or someone that knows more details that can answer for sure?

I figured on not getting much of a response, they probably haven't even really decided what kind of damage they will do. I re-read the descriptions of all the weapons and some of them are pretty vague and could go either way. I guess it's a wait and see type thing. I for one am hoping blast, would rather not leave my crappy padawan defenseless without some kind of self sufficient alt profession like TKM. That way I could drop medic and swords, still heal states and wounds, and have enough points to at least get MLS before I drop anything else.
