does anything we jedi say mean anything to you? like when we tell you about the crushing let down jedi is once you actually achieve it, or how regular professions are more powerful right now? Does the thought of swinging a saber really mean that much to you? i know it did to me but the awsome factor of it died within 2 weeks...

What is the big obsession with jedi? next to everybody has it, most don't even play it, its weak, a longer grind than FS with "setbacks"

Just wondering why you guys are so obsessed with it...im not flamin or whatever just curious, i can't remember why i was so obsessed with it anymore having actually experienced it...

My thing is. I would rather see for myself what Jedi has to offer for me than to go off of what everyone else says about it. What u dislike about it may be what I like or just don't care about.

I personally got the game to experince star wars and become a jedi. So im really pushing to reach the goal of jedi, even though it has gotten weaker. I still wanna experince it first hand.

i dunno i got this game as a star wars fan, with no proir expierence to any MMORPG's i must admit its kept me pretty entertained, and im trying out a lot of professions to expierence what SWG has to offer, doing quests, mission, pvp'ing, crafting, space wars...yah all that its all so fun, but i also have has that desireto wield the holy glowy but isee it more as an end-game kind of prof. to end my game with jedi after everything else has lost my interest, but right now im pretty content with bounty hunting hehe its where its at

the main reason i'm doing it is for the extra character slot...the other reason is for pvp because on bria the only imps that pvp are jedi.

No it doesn't, because we get a 2nd character slot. Even if we end up hating Jedi, we get a 2nd character at no extra cost, the net profit from the whole deal is a jedi, which is worth it to most people even if it isnt much fun.

There are just WAY to many variables to such a statement that I can't cover them all. However a couple observations:

1. "we jedi say..." unfortunately a vast population of jedi are teenagers, and many have a...maturity factor...which is questionable, which means a certain hesitance to listen to the advice of jedi as a whole exists....

2. "crushing let down..." I would suggest this reflects on what one expects of the jedi profession. If one is obsessing over having the "uber" class, being able to "pwn" anything that moves, well then yeah, I'd think it's a let down. Then again, if one is looking for a wider variety to the grind, a new class with new skills to try, etc., jedi holds a certain appeal.

3. "most don't even play it..." I expect a large amount of the jedi population boom has to do with individuals seeking the "uber" rush, basically for bragging rights. These are the star port duelers, the annoying glow stick wielders which foment the "hatred" of jedi from so many players. So actually when I hear the profession is a let down with issues, well that could be good news as it may hopefully weed out the "easily bored" crowd... Besides, the other professions all have things that are broken as well, so what's different about broken things in jedi?

4. As for me, I've been at the game just over 1 year, and am enjoying just exploring the game. I've got three accounts, (one soon to be cancelled once I get the alt), and have covered most of the professions which interest me. Part of that interest is to just see what jedi is all about. Of course to some of us, SWG is a long term interest, (it is to me), so when I hear about all the problems it has, I'm also willing to bet the devs will, eventually, try to make it more interesting, and I would like to have a saber available when that time comes...

Just a few observations from yet one more perpetual force grinder...

Well said. I´m not so old gamer as you are, 5 and half month, and yes, i´m FS, but before anyone start flaming, I got glowy without looking forward to it. I was exploring, had colleted over 60 badges, location, jedi POI, did the Rebel themepark for the 3k faction point, nym´s for the slugthrower and when i was a survival knife master, did the starter quests on mos eisley, mastered 3starter profs (brawler, marksman and artisan) andone elite by then, carbineer. As i was saying, i loved to do quests and collect badges, so exactly what badge completed my requirments for glowy i do not know. But one day, while in my home city, was about to buy a ticket to dearic and an old man with a white cloak approached me and asked me if i felt the force with me. That´s how i became glowy, by doing stuff in this game. Some ppl just want to get the second char in the server, others just to brag about obtaining a glowstick, and others love the jedi way of leaving. I´m SW fan since i can remember, and jedi were to me like the enlighted people who only fought to protect not to damage. So, yes my destination was becoming jedi, but not my desperation. I got my FS as a reward for exploring the SW universe. Now I´m over the 74 badges, maybe more if the 75 badges badge is really bugged, and still got a lot to discover in the universe. That is why for now, my grinding is whenever I feel like, but most of my time i spend it exploring and helping people, as i will once JEDI.

My point was, even though most people say that if you are not pre-cu you are a freaking NOOB, many of us have as much of the SWG content than most of the pre-cu guys.

The best thing you can develop as you grind FS is a thick skin in regards to these forums and the Jedi forum in particular. I personally would not trade Jedi for any other profession in the game, and I've done a bunch of them, regardless of how others perceive their power or lack thereof. Jedi is iconic Star Wars, arguably the richest forRP'ers, and that is enough for many. The power of the Jedi profession is not in any one particular ability -- we're not the best damage dealers, we're certainly not the best mezzers or healers. The power of the Jedi profession is in the diversity of disciplines that can be put into one template. Pay no attention to the naysayers.

The SWG Forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of
catassery and buttmonkeyism. We must be cautious.

you know its mixed i have played jedi post and pre cu on gorath and loved it. not saying your one to do this but alot of jedi are greedy and want population to go down so they discourage alot of grinders not to go jedi. if they are disapointed in jedi let them go off and not be jedi they can go any profession later if thats what they choose to do. how ever what happens if jedi ever do get good components to make batter weaponry again and then something happens to lengthen the grind...they will be sol. so in my opinion go for it get moving while its still semi easy to achieve. if not later it may be the fall to you wanting to quit the game or give up.

like i said no offence to original poster not saying thats your motive at all

I grind to be a Jedi mostly because i feel forced to that, i have played this game in allmost 2 year and got allmost all badges. I had no plans on to make a jedi but when all ppl keep ask me when i shall be jedi i got tired so now i grind jedi for get my new alt that will be what i have allways been, but i silent them who ask me when i shall be jedi.

I would rather see other alpha proffessions added as Emperors Hand, Deathwatch Commandos or Blacksun Operative and so on then be a jedi.

I dont expect a jedi to do anything special because a group of 4 ranged fighters can in many ways do more thigns then a group of 8 jedis, that is thigns i have seen with my own eyes.

Fein out

Jedi is somehow like an end game for me, i like jedi and when something you like is there, why not go for it
And part about it being crap, sure jedi may be weaker than most profession out there but it doesnt matter to me really ... no im not going to one jedi that runs around spamming force powers or going pvp shouting i pwn j00 noob ... i go jedi for the experience and because i like it

And for you original poster, you need to look and find that interest u had for jedi again, cuz i doubt u lost interest in 2 weeks, cuz if so, why are you still jedi ...
cuz if u think star wars u think jedi, sure there are some ppl out there that plays swg without thinking of becoming jedi, i know some that does ... but for the others, if u like jedis go for it ... but if u are planning to be 1 of those jedis that runs around ... spam powers in public, and shouting leet speak at pvpers then i say u better not be jedi cuz u be the one getting beaten

Im not sure if your post is serious or just another way to ask us to stop going jedi so u guys can be the only jedis in ur servers but thats just wat im thinking no offence
To others, flame away my flame suit is on =)
