I know that its good for somthing, but exatly what? Is it a accuracy mod against them? Or a damage Absorb?

accuracy mod

so is melee def.. but melee

toughness = absorb.

as far as accuracy goes i think its 2 to 1... 2 points = 1% better evade. or something like that

I think the thing is it's a straight modification of your opponent's chance to hit.

For example, let's say the base hit percentage is 30%. For every point of melee defense you have, that's reduced by 1%, but for every point of melee accuracy that's increased by 1%.

Quick question,

If I choose two professions, namely pikeman and heavy swordsman, do I get all the melee defense mods from both professions or just one at a time? For instance, both pikeman and swordsman offer total melee defense of 30, or +15 from each. When I have my sword equiped, do I have a +15 mod or +30?

As of now, the defenses do not stack. The only stackable mods from professions are speed mods and dodge mods (pistoleer/fencer)

From what I understand, RD isnt working. Oh well. I'm getting it anyway for my last tree.
